The Free Huey World Report: Michael Caesar

Yo! We're back with another week of The Free Huey World Report, and we're focusing on Huey's comedic best friend, Michael Caesar. Most people don't know about this guy, cause' they never read the strip, but he's essentially designed to help balance out the cynicalism of Huey in the comic strip. He also helps with emphasizing the childlike elements of Huey's character.

Name: Caesar
Age: Young kid
Place of Birth: Brooklyn, NY
Personal Hero: Speed Racer
Huey's best friend Caesar hails from Brooklyn, NY and seems to rule the world from atop his bright red bigwheel. The balance to Huey's serious demeanor, he lives a relatively carefree life firmly focused on hip-hop, candy, video games, and chasing after Isis.

This was the original hitlist bio for Caesar. Honestly, I'm glad his design changed. He looks kinda corny here, but the whole point in Caesar is to be this cool Hip-Hop nerd guy. The character went through some changes naturally, but one of the most notable additions was his crush on a character I'll get into later on the weeks, but Isis.

(I guess Caesar was embracing his inner Tiger Woods? I don't know, this feels so left field.  I feel like he'd play soccer like he did in the strip with Huey, or basketball with Riley or video games. Golf? It just feels so outta nowhere.)

It feels like Caesar had some of Grandad's traits in the show. As a matter of fact, it feels like instead of including Caesar in the show, they instead chose to bleed his character traits into the core trio. The womaniser into Grandad. The Hip-Hop know-how into Riley. And, the sarcastic one liners into Huey, and some of his interactions with Riley.

A cool details about Caesar though, is that Aaron always drew him with this "Big Wheel" that was red. Probably a reference to speed racer. Aaron was such a nerd, but I love it.

I'm gonna save the full story of why Caesar wasn't in the show for another post, but for now, do yourself a favor and read the 2000-2001 strips with Caesar. He really does breathe some fresh life into the comic strip.

Shout out to Michael Caesar. Here's hoping he's in the game, in some way, shape or form.

Fresh outta' 19' for you suckas!
