Not to the extent of the character in this movie, but they refused to be recorded/have photos taken of them, they never gave out their real name, it was hard to have conversations with them at times because you could never find them, etc. I definitely think that if you work in fields like this for too long you risk losing your sanity a little bit unless you look at it from a nihilistic view or don't take it super seriously.
