The Free Huey World Report: Industrial Prison Complex

There's a lot one can say with a topic as big as this one.

From the profiling of minorities to their disproportionate mass incarceration. But being honest, people aren't really interested in hearing my thoughts on the whole prison system as a whole, and the whole corrupt mess. 

I often criticize the episode "A Date with the Booty Warrior" for its inconsistency on what it wants to do, and focus moreso on being funny with dated anal rape jokes. However, I will applaud it from a different perspective on showing how the prison system essentially transforms the people who enter into animals.

For as much as I find the obsession with anal rape alittle ridiculous, I think when you look at the encompassing message the episode is presenting, it works. I just feel like a lot of people got caught up in the anal rape jokes that the message was diluted as a result. 

The prison system is destructive because it essentially transforms human beings into the monsters that they want to paint them as. Regardless of the offense. Whether that be a health related issue with drugs or something as horrific as murder.

What prisons essentially do is deprive humans of their humanity, and instead substitute it with the word "criminal." Through this label of a "criminal" the system can now deprive you of your basic human rights, and essentially, have complete control over your life and the opportunities at your disposal. And, systematically minorities are put in positions to which they will always be more likely to fall victim to circumstances.

I wish The Boondocks brought up more of the socio-economic factors that led to the mass incarceration of black people, like the War on Drugs, segregation and the lack of care in low-income communities, but I understand there's a limit to what can be done. We're literally trying to fight against a system designed to keep us at the bottom.

I guess, if you can't find humour in it, we'll never learn to enjoy it. Thanks for the read, and thanks for waitin' up on me. More of these in due time. Been distracted with projects and work.
