Mega64 Movie Club: Full Metal Jacket
Added 2022-06-21 07:29:34 +0000 UTC
This week on Movie Club we discuss the Stanley Kubrick two-fer Full Metal Jacket. Released in 1987, the film observes soldiers as they deal with boot camp and the traumatizing effects of the Vietnam war. You know, fun stuff!! Is this two-movies-in-one deal still as effective as back then?
Next week's movie is THE GREEN MILE.
I think the most terrifying thing about seeing this movie for the first time in a theater seat in 1987 would be just being stuck and bewildered at the horrific events unfolding on-screen, and all the while a stranger in the seat next to you sits smiling or laughing.

Honestly as someone who’s autistic, the autistic Fredo theory makes a lot of sense.
I was a fan of the Walking Dead comics and I was convinced that Eugene was autistic and I actually have my letter published in an issue where they were like “oh yeah definitely on there”

I saw this movie as a younger teen as well, went through army basic in 2012, and wanted to rewatch to see how they portrayed the training. It was pretty dang spot on still. Very expedited with the training parts but the barracks life is still like that
