Something I go on about a lot is strategy. To me, it's never enough to be able to look into the eyes of a bunch of people and say "This is what we need to do."

It means so much more to actually be able to do it.

Social Media's beautiful and destructive, and just emphasizes all the strengths and issues with being online. The exposure. The narcissism. The privacy. The entitlement. Etc.

But, something key with social media is strategy.

The Boondocks has always somewhat struggled with things like this, but now we're doing a lot better with BoondocksBootleg on Insta. It forced me to reconsider my stance on things like this.

Twitter is essentially just an echo chamber of opinions. Insta is interesting, cause' it forces you to put something out there. Yeah, you don't 'read' as much, but that's the point. It forces you to create something for an audience to engage with. It's the personification of modern social media.

Something I've recently been doing is rebranding my means of engaging on Instagram for this very purpose. Simple things like presentation, and understanding what gets hits and clicks is enough to get yourself and your message out there.

I can tweet out that Huey line above, and it means nothing.

But, if I gear the post to Insta, with a border, colour scheme, focused imagery, and so-on so-forth, then it's much more likely to be well received and people are more likely to engage with it. Some of y'all might read this and think "yeah, duh. That's basic marketting strategy." But, that's just it. Strategy.

If you want to reach people.

If you want to make any form of change.

You need an audience. You need to present yourself to that audience in a way that appeals to them. You need to be smart and strategic. McGruder once said, "We often confuse strategy with compromise." You have to be smart, otherwise, you'll reach no-one.
