Honest Question.

Do you think people would play this? Without giving away too much about what the game is about nor revealing more than I've already shown, it's essentially a game where you play as a detective with your ex-con anarchist psuedo-assistant solving the case of where a drug supply (Nixie) is coming from your local neighbourhood. It narratively does a lot with the urban and suburban setting, with social and political commentary along the way.

It's part-political, it has a mostly black cast and I think it's fun and has a lot of heart.

What can often discourage me from working on it is knowing how "gamers" are, I guess. They see politics or black people and get on edge. It can be difficult to stick to your convictions, when you know in your heart if your project doesn't adhere to the 'weeb bait' then it probably won't see the light of day.

This has been a passion project of mine forever, and I'm essentially just asking... is this a project worth pursuing? I'd like to think it is, but there are little moments where I question the purpose of dumping a lot of my money and resources into a black project that nobody will fund.

Just some nonsensical ramblings. That's all.

Honest Question. Honest Question. Honest Question. Honest Question.

Lad, I'm down for this VN/game, seeming sick so far

Alex

Yeah, without getting too much into the plans, the idea is to release something free and give people a sense for the project.

Thanks. Words of support help will me on.

It's really hard to say. It seems like a very story-driven game, which means the quality of the story is what decides how well the game is received. So it's hard to say much about it until it's actually finished. Also, it's like you said, without the "weeb bait," you need something special to grab attention for it. Honestly, if a bunch of reactionary youtube gamers trash it for being political, that's almost a good thing. Conversely, there are gamers all over the political spectrum, so some might pick this up strictly because of that. If I were just scrolling through a list of games on metacritic or something, I probably wouldn't notice it. There's other ways to deal with that also. A free-to-play model might help, or a lot of obscure games are seeing light these days by getting into bundled packages. But yeah, maybe you could scratch that black, politics niche. Either way, I'm excited to see how far you go with this.

I'm a "black" (read: biracial) "gamer" (read: hobbyist, not enthusiast), and an Ace Attorney fan. I'd be intrigued to see where this project goes, Don't get discouraged, voices like ours are essential at times such as these,
