Fuck those IMDB “lists” frfr.

Heathcliff

John Huston (pronounced like the city in Texas) also directed Bogart in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre and The African Queen. Out of those two, I would definitely recommend Sierra Madre. The Asphalt Jungle, which is a prototype heist flick with Marilyn Monroe, also slaps hard.

Im down with my patreon money to fund Rocco’s stay in the starwars hotel

Lorenzo Rivera

Genuinely hope you guys watch more Bogart films in the future. There are some absolute bangers amongst his filmography.

Bill Murphy

I was obsessed with Peter Lorre in high school after I saw this for the first time. He’s great with Sydney Greenstreet!

Mary and Steve

Good stuff - Bogart rules!

Won’t nerd out too much, but glad to see you guys check this out. It’s one of my all-time favorites. I do think it really grows on you with repeat watches — so maybe it’ll appreciate for you two in time. The beauty of it, for me, is that ultimately the entire complicated clockwork plot doesn’t matter. It builds it all up to completely explode your expectations. At the end of the day, it’s about the redemption of Bogart’s character. It establishes him as this archetypical anti-hero - I can’t think of an earlier example who lives in that moral grey area, only looking out for himself - and when he finally does sacrifice Brigid in favor of his own integrity, it was genuinely surprising. It’s Han Solo flying in to help Luke at the end of Star Wars. That said, Casablanca doesn’t require the context or homework to enjoy … it’s just a genuinely great flick. Definitely a -huge- influence on Adventureland at Disneyland, as is African Queen (another easy recommendation). And as a P.S., the director John Huston is Angelica Huston’s dad.

Casablanca really lives up to it's reputation
