Stevie Wonder the goat, who would’ve thought. It really surprised me how much I liked this one. So far, I think this is my favorite record club album that I’ve discovered through record club. Never had listened to a Stevie wonder record before and now I’m a believer. So many good tracks but my favorites were probably “happier than the morning sun” and “superwoman”. 4/5, big fan!

Essential 70s album that pushed the medium to new heights. Love the unhinged complexity and fearlessness. 4.5 out of 5.

Welcome to the Twin Cities! ⭐️ I’ve never listened to a full Stevie Wonder album either but I think his career is super interesting. He’s in some of the Frankie and Annette Beach Party movies (including my fav, Bikini Beach) and as a result well before this album they were trying to push him as a surfer music guy. It flopped, thank goodness or else we wouldn’t have some real outstanding jams and doubt he would have had such an impact. (I love surf music but it was not a good fit.) The TONTO Synthesizer really tickled me, I love hearing people mess around with those sounds and getting the hang of it. Superwoman (Where Were You When I Needed You), I Love Every Little Thing About You, and Keep on Running were my top three tracks on the album. I’m a big Janelle Monáe nut and you can really hear the back half of Superwoman in her music. They later collaborated on Dirty Computer! I was surprised by Evil’s abrupt ending and was disappointed it was all over. :( So I turned it back on again immediately :)

💿💿💿/𝟓 Never given a Stevie Wonder album a full listen-to before this week and I ended up liking this one so much I almost started a deep dive into some of his even more acclaimed records-- but I learned that the 3 I was really interested in listening to were all included on this list in MUCH higher spots so I figured I'd save them as dessert later on. Rolling Stone talks a lot about the sounds that inspire the next generation of song writers but this might be the first album we've listened to where it clearly jumped out at me. Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, John Legend etc etc. all fall from his tree.

Music of my Mind was pretty good. I recently listened to Songs In the Key of Life, so in comparison it's just alright. I'm learning how legendary Stevie is, and it's kinda mind blowing. I'd give Music of My Mind a 3-3.5/5 💿. Solid stuff by Stevie.
