Mega64 Record Club Ep. 22 - Wu-Tang Clan - Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) (#27)

Come down to Shaolin with me and my special guest Bryan as we go into the 1993 hip-hop classic album by Wu-Tang Clan. It's the number 27 album of all time, so you know it's got to be good.

Same, like what you like, but on a technical level the sax solo and the synced up breakdown towards the end are just really cool and have an energy that I don’t hear much of in popular music, that and the main guitar riff is picture perfect of driving down a beach highway to me, so peak mood

Binging these old Record Club episodes and wanted to point out that despite being a millennial with no ties to New Jersey, "Born To Run" is my go-to answer for my favorite song of all time

I'm happy you were able to bring in the King Lord for the Wu Tang episode! Always great to see Bryan and to hear y'alls thoughts on this incredible album. Great episode! πŸ‘

Glad to hear Bryan's thoughts on this one! Really looking forward to next week too!

You guys hit the nail on the head, you can really hear the paradigm shift in this album. Wu-Tang really changed everything, this definitely deserves its placement. Also much love to Bryan, he’s always the best. 4/5 for me on this one. Excited for the four hour episode next week.

New thumbnails are great! Oddly, this album and fuzzy samples reminded me of Earthbound’s soundtrack. I need to spend a little more time with Wu-Tang Clan to get more acquainted with the different members and their voices but it was fun to get immersed. Very cool to have Bryan on! I love all the different guests you’ve had so far! Bruce Springsteen always reminds me of a customer I had ten-some years ago. She had been to his show the night before and excitedly told me about how she touched his butt.

cool thumbnail

I think this is the first Record Club I've watched where I've listened to the album. First song I heard by Wu was Protect Ya Neck and was instantly hooked. Everyone that liked this album should listen to Liquid Swordz by GZA, the best of their solo stuff imo with Only Built 4 Cuban Lynx close behind.

That new logo is great!

Beautiful new logo/thumbnails 😍 I love the killer-bee technique that Wu uses. You never know which line-up will be pelting you on any given song and God forbid you're getting hit with 7 of these motherfuckers at once. I love how... perfectly-shitty this album sounds lmao. One of my favourite lines on here isn't even in a lyric but during one of the intermissions, Raekwon says "the Wu got somethin' that I know that everybody wanna hear-- 'Cause I know I've been waitin' to hear it." It feels made out of necessity. Lines are literally being cut off before the last word can be finished, like a badly translated Kung-Fu B movie. and I love how positive they are towards one another, always boosting each other up and putting each other over. and I love that, like fighting game characters ironically enough, everyone has a favourite Wu-Tang member. Mine changes all the time. Started with ODB, shifted to Method Man, was GZA for a bit, then I fell into Gravediggaz so it was the RZArector and fuck... Ghostface is a great choice too. Guess I haven't settled on my main yet. πŸ’ΏπŸ’ΏπŸ’ΏπŸ’Ώ/πŸ“
