Mega64 Record Club Ep. 41 - The B-52's - The B-52's (#198)

Hey Everyone! I am so sorry Garrett's mic wasn't on! I was thinking about re recording it solo but I still fell like even though you can barley hear him, he still adds so much to this episode. I'm super bummed this happened, I swear it won't happen again. Thanks for all the love and support with this show you have all been so wonderful as I stumble my way, figuring how to run a show by myself out.

Let's get weird Record Clubbers! In this episode I am again joined by Garrett Hunter to talk about the art band from Athens Georgia who became music icons. What do you think of them? Let find out!

Comments

I was expecting way more surf rock, but I was pleasantly surprised at the variety. I was especially surprised at the punk vibes that I got. Genuinely a 4.5-5/5 for me. I'm down for 6 minutes of rock lobster bb let's get it.

Tyler Lajevardi

I like the b-52s air fighter reference commercialized glam rock influence

Niru

I listened to Cosmic Thing on cassette tape so many times on long trips as a kid. I think people really pigeonhole B-52’s as solely weirdo quirky surf rock because of the more popular songs, but they’re definitely more than that.

Divad

I think "Downtown" is the best minimalist rock song ever

Adam

This album was a bop; very much on Garrett's side of the fence.
