Great filename for that beautiful mp1+2.

Looking forward to Damn the Torpedoes! My personal favorite Tom Petty song is actually a b side which is included on the deluxe version of that album, Casa Dega. Definitely recommend checking it out as well!

I could not agree more on the album cover, I thought it was gonna be super shitty because of how goofy it looked. Van should NOT ever do that style of facial hair lol. I loved the title track, was def my fav on the album. Kinda chill of an album overall, I’d say around a 3 myself. Don’t get why it’s so high up on the list tho. Btw if you’ve never heard it, jack white’s band the dead weather has an amazing cover of a them song, you just can’t win, that was a b side for their first album.

X-Ray Spex are awesome, stoked to hear that you dug the single! Their 1978 album, Germ Free Adolescents, is part of the Top 500 Albums list -- looking forward to getting to that!

I picked up this album after the election, and "Brand New Day" was one of many instances on it that lifted my spirits quite a bit. Been feeling despondent and this album was kind of life-affirming. Glad Shawn pulled it when he did! Also, I can't believe Shawn didn't like Moondance. It's a fun track! Edit: Please don't play music on future episodes, we can't see Record Club (or Mega64 Infinity) go out like this

X Ray Spex fucking rules. Poly Styrene was such a force. And I think the sax player, Lora Logic was only about 16 when this was recorded. Definitely recommend both of their albums. A decent follow-up IMO would be Romeo Void. They’re a little more new wave than punk but still have the female vocals and sax. Really dug this album! A good cooler weather album. I know they’re not exactly the same but it kind of reminded me of The Band. Same fall vibes. Moondance always reminds me of getting breakfast in Bruegger’s Bagels because that’s the first place I really heard it. I added just about the whole album to my Record Club Recap playlist, my favorite faves were Caravan, Into the Mystic, Everyone Everyone and Glad Tidings. Also, I think John Mayer got Waiting on the World to Change from Crazy Love lol

As I was growing up, my mom always listened to “The Best of Van Morrison”, and I absolutely love it. But I guess with 45 albums you’re bound to have a good best of. With that said I found “Moondance” to be just okay. A 3/5. “It Stoned Me” and “Everyone” are the only songs I could see myself returning to consistently. Glad you remember “Everyone” in the movie “The Royal Tenenbaums”. That’s literally my all time favorite film. While I disagree with Mega64 politically, I knew when Shawn announced this that he would find this album soothing for the times. It is definitely a relaxing album.

Oh man Shawn if you like saxophone with a punk band check out Jeff Rosenstock or his old band Bomb the Music Industry! His album Worry might help you feel a little better in all this going on, I know it helps me a lot. Would love to hear your thoughts if you check that one out

This is a hard album for me to judge. I first found the CD for this in my grandma's CD collection. After listening to it I realized the inspiration Van Morrison must have had on Swamp Pop music. Which is basically Louisiana music that takes inspiration from old rock n roll and R&B. With elements like Boogie woogie thrown in the mix. You really hear it in the rhythms and use of trumpets and pianos/keyboards throughout. I hear it most in songs like These Dreams of You, Caravan and And It Stoned Me. So I find the album interesting in that regard. But also that music has sadly never been my favorite lol Like I said before though this is a solid album. Into the Mystic slaps and is definitely my favourite. Crazy Love and Moondance are cool too. I'm looking forward more to when we get to his album Astral Weeks. That album is his best imo and one of the greatest folk albums of all time imo.

SUPER EXCITED FOR THIS ONE. Some good songs on this one. If you liked caravan, listen to the live version on The Band’s The Last Waltz. It’s the superior version!

This shit was not for me. I feel bad even rating it. Oh Bondage on the other hand, I was actually shocked I had never heard before. That gets a 4.25/5.

One of my favorite albums! Into the mystic is a magical song!
