My mom fucking loves this movie. I had ZERO interest ever watching it but did cause she wanted to and I was shocked how much it didn't suck. Specifically I remember always liking how many jokes were set up early on that got paid off. I'd probably give it 2.75/5, maybe 3.

Garrett Vacation 🔪💖🩸

Rocco The Next Generation is so fucking good and I would watch like 900 podcasts of you and shawn talking about it at a tier 4 subscription i am not joking

I think they will both genuinely enjoy Home Alone so next week will be good. I think it's more interesting if they split on a movie. Not to say they should seek those out intentionally but when it happens organically, those are some fun episodes.

I was a kid when Elf came out. I liked it then, but as I've gotten older and watched it more I've basically started to feel exactly how you guys do about this movie. It's funny to me though because a lot of older adults in my family have always loved it and think it's hilarious. Some of them say it's their favorite Christmas movie. I'll take Home Alone 1 and 2 over this any day. I'm hyped to hear that you guys are going to be doing the first Home Alone for Movie Club! That should be a great episode.

I was 9 years old when this movie came out and it really stuck with me! Like you guys said, there's so much creativity here (especially the North Pole) and the "movie magic" in certain scenes swept me off my feet as a kid. This ended up being the Christmas movie my family and I would re-watch every year, so I feel I would love it for that reason alone. Glad you guys came around a little bit on your re-watch! It's by no means a magnificent or exceptional film, but I think it deserves a place among the Christmas Classics

I can admit that as a 30 year old, I was grade school age when this came out and maybe that does rose-tint your view on a movie a bit, but I find the heightened seriousness of the things like the Central Park police leading a manhunt for Santa Claus especially funny. there's a quick throwaway line about how they once brutalized attendees of a Simon and Garfunkel concert that got out of hand which completely flies over the head of a child but is great writing as an adult. I still go to bat for Elf. Even features Amy Sedaris as the receptionist at his dad's office. She should be in everything!

Yall should do Magnolia for movie club sometime! It’s like Paul Thomas Anderson’s Love Actually so basically it’s a Christmas movie

"Bye Buddy, hope you find your dad." My inlaws tell my son that all the time.

Loved Ted Danson in Bored to Death

I don’t think it’s like the best movie ever but as someone in their mid-20’s this movie is extremely nostalgic for me

Goddamnit I don’t want to be that guy but I’m going to have to defend Jingle All the Way. Watched it last christmas and it is a very good bad movie, not boring, kind of insane, Sinbad and Arnold are great and Phil Hartman is absolutely perfect. Its dumb as fuck but I find myself forgoving a lot of it as it seems to know it is just a live action cartoon. I’m actually suprised Rocco doesn’t like it as it has that sort of weirdly dark yet silly tone he seems to enjoy.

elf sucks

My favorite Christmas movie is It's A Wonderful Life, but I also love Elf. It's just dumb fun. Hanging out with family and you need something harmless to put on? This is a perfect choice to throw something on, turn off your mind, and feel the Christmas spirit.

Posi vibes when i say this It really is a bummer when Movie Club (and Record Club) has both (or one) of ya just super not interested in the topic. I would really love to see more stuff that you guys genuinely enjoy!
