Mega64 Record Club Ep. 82 - Usher - Confessions(#432)

This week, we dive into Confessions, Usher's groundbreaking 2004 album, and maybe share some real-life confessions along the way. Jennie returns to the show to help break down the second best-selling album of the 2000s

Also...I recorded this directly after The First Slam Dunk movie club with Rocco...No clue how the focus got so bad. Sorry about that everyone!

I tried but really could not get into this album - Yeah stands alone as an incredible track, though. (I also enjoy Caught Up and Bad Girl. Superstar and Tha/ What it’s Made For made me laugh.) I just don’t have patience for slow jams and cheating songs. However, I remember how gigantic the album was when it came out - everyone was singing ‘these are my confessions’ in the hallway and soooo many classmates had Yeah! as an alarm or ringtone. Inescapable. Re: Brian Setzer (no L) he’s always doing the Rockabilly thing so I’m not surprised to hear he covered Summertime Blues! If you’re into that (acquired taste, I know) he wrote a Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran tribute song called “Gene and Eddie” which is basically all their hits in one tune. If you’re into his stuff, you’ll like it - if you don’t, you won’t lol

Was not expecting a Confession of Shawn's own to start the show. Gutted. Also, Confessions Pt. III is Weird Al's best parody song in my opinion, easy fiver on that one.
