I’m 1/2way through this one and I have to pause until later, but I just want to tell you that I love you two. I love your friendship so much.
Umm.
And big hugs for winning at therapy.

Never pierce your ears at a Claire’s! Always go to a tattoo parlor for any piercings.

Darby, you should make a compilation of Alexis's uhms for credit chat. A c(uhm)pilation, one might say. It will be like half therapy half bullying x

Also, I know Alexis famously isn't in the Patreon, so maybe Darby or Sari can pass her the message lol.❤️

For Alexis: I do podcasting and radio appearances professionally (just to establish that I'm legit and not some kook, this is my most recent one: https://foreignpolicy.com/podcasts/negotiators/, we've won awards and stuff), and when I first started podcasting years ago, I also got a lot of criticism for saying "um" and "like," and then a colleague told me about vocal exercises you can do to train yourself to stop doing it. One that worked for me is this:
Step 1: Say the word (in your case: "um") over and over again for 1 minute straight. Just "Um. Um. Um. Um. Um..." for a whole minute.
Step 2: Then for the next 1 minute, alternate between a) saying "um" and b) starting to say it but stopping yourself right when it's about to come out. So basically "Um. __. Um. __. Um...". Do that—saying it, stopping it, saying it, stopping it—for a minute.
Step 3: Then for the next 1 minute, just start to say it but stop yourself over and over, without ever saying it. Just "__. __. __..." for a minute.
It worked for me, and I still do it anytime I find myself overusing a filler word when speaking. (I'm sure you can also just Google for other similar exercises, this is just one that I use and have found effective.) Hope that helps!
