I wanted to make a vintage poster art looking piece with a tuxedo cat as it dawned on me I didn't have any art of bicolour cats.

I will be bringing this original to Eurofurence Art Show as a week ago I got told I have space.... I now need to fill!

I did the background with acrylic ink wash and the cat is in gouache. I planned on making the script acryla gouache but halfway painting it I already was using up a massive blob of titanium white on my pallet so I was committed at that point to using it up. As re-wetting dried white gouache is a horrible waste of time if you are painting opaque.

Which I get asked a lot about acryla gouache as I mostly work in regular gouache, some day in the future I should write up differences(if anyone is interested?) as really acryla gouache isn't gouache at all it's acrylic with a watersoluable binder( gum arabic ) and dries with a matte finish.

I often use it for accents like scripts/fonts/outlines in gouache paintings so that fine detail doesn't shift (as real gouache can with moisture)
I'm a lazy SOB and could add matte medium to acrylics I own but ehhh squeezing a tiny tube is so much easier than messing around with a palette knife as I often only need tiny amounts.
