Being reclassified in this can be very bad, as shown Isa was deported to the 3rd ring because she was reclassified, you can be denied employment based on 'they could be unpredictable' access to proper health care 'I didn't know how to treat a hybrid' to just over all stigma of not meeting a neat and tidy category. There also isn't A LOT of chimeras so laws protecting them or acknowledging treatment of isn't really set up yet. Cross Genus couples normally adopted or just were childless(which it's own taboo in this society). In many cases are the products of affairs/one night stands (in Alexanders case) so they have that social stigma attached to them. People think they are unreliable and chaotic in Isa case are you a dog or are you a cat? This is a society that like categories, a cat will eat this and be good at this, get this type of medical treatment, if you are not good at these things cats are good at then you're just a looser of a cat. A cat dog hybrid has no category, what would they be good at or bad at? In Isa case she was treated as an unattractive cat that smells bad. So people think they will be moody/chaotic and unpredictable which isn't the case at all, in many cases it's far more people around them having problems then they themselves.
