Patreon Updates

So I have some future ideas for Patreon.... This is going to be long.

Comics
I decided to not do weekly updates on Wild Autumn as I would rather work in stages (thumbnails, pencils, inks etc), so I have up to page 12 pencilled and I'll keep chipping away at the pencils till I finish issue one (it's 16 pages, so not long) and then I'll move to inking/greyscale for it.

Right now I will keep Synthetic Instinct on a 'when I get it finished' schedule but when I get Wild Autumn done you will get those pages on a weekly schedule while I work on a back log of pages for Synthetic Instinct.  Because I prefer having a queue of updates ready rather than 'when it's finished'... That's pretty stressful for me.

I know Wild Autumn isn't as popular as Synthetic Instinct, when I started it I had a bunch of Patreons bail stating they don't like that comic (each to their own) but please understand it keeps me from burning out flipping genres like this annnnd it's ONLY started so give it a bit. It's a story that means a lot to me just like Syn does.

Website
I am hoping to hire someone (I have one person in mind) to rebuild my website this fall, I just need to make the mock up, discuss what I want and what is possible within the budget. As handling websites is beyond my very dated skills at this point.
Also organizing is not how my brain works, I'm pure chaos so this is reaalllly difficult for me to compartmentalize.

I want it usable for non-patreons and as a good archive for Patreons for Patreon content.  As well as moving to a better hosting (I'm looking at bluehost right now) as the host I'm with is for Canadians, I don't live in Canada anymore and it's REALLY not that great. Customer service is snarky ass's.

Additional content plans.

$5(bronze) tier and up... I plan on posting more content of  character sketches and bios.  I keep having this mindset of ONLY posting work that is 100% finished on the Patreon feed otherwise I'd annoy people. Then I remember people kinda like more content if you're paying for it. So I really need to shake this mindset :|

I have been debating on doing Ask the cast content but I'm not sure that's a great fit for my work?

Or have patreons suggest sketch/stand alone illustration ideas for cast characters. Which I can pick from.

I also have been debating on mildly NSFW side comics that would be greyscale and a little rougher in style.
If it's set in Synthetic Instinct's world it will NOT feature the main cast or have any impact on the main story line. It's far more just additional side fluff, world building.
So anything I do would be skip-able content.

If I do this it will require me to change my Patreon rating and take those steps. Which I really don't care about being listed as NSFW as I tell people I hate censorship in comics ALL THE TIME, comics I grew up reading were 2000AD and Conan so my idea of what is appropriate is VERY skewed towards IDK ANYTHING A STORY NEEDS??..

My question would Patreons be upset if I flipped over to that rating? Even if like 80% or more of my work is in PG13 category?? (let me be honest I'm not G rated I draw a lot of violent comics)

For gold tier ($20)
I've already told a few of you that you will be getting PDF's of anything I compile for free before I put them in an online store. I may set this up on discord so you'll have your own channel to access to downloads when I have them available.

Comments

That's kind of what I was thinking to do was any nsfw content be thumbnail first much like how I do with the webtoon files for Synthetic Instinct. Thanks, each to their own I just wished they understood I'm not abandoning Synthetic Instinct. I can work on multiple projects without dropping one but what's important to me is making and finishing comics.

I’m fine with NSFW content, I would just ask that the content isn’t the “leading thumbnail,” if that makes sense? It can feel awkward if I’m scrolling for the latest update and then boom! A titty while I’m in the doctor’s office (or whatever!) ya know? Sad to hear Wild Autumn was’t received well. I joined right around the time you started that comic and I like it just fine.

I love Wild Autumn and I am totally here for it!
