[EDIT: PAGES 17 & 18 Added + Short Story Update)
Hi everyone,
Apologies for the delay—turns out, remembering last-minute changes before hitting render is a skill I have yet to master. Who knew? But fear not, it’s all sorted now, and ready for you to enjoy!
So, how will Hoshi handle these unexpected changes? Will our adorable maid call it quits, or will curiosity pull her deeper into the rabbit hole? (Let’s be real, we all know the answer to that.)

For those of you who enjoy a good read, here’s the short story version! Some creative liberties were taken between the comic and the story (because adapting things is hard), but hopefully, it’s still an enjoyable ride.
Hoshino made a beeline for a table, her iPad in hand, where two Japanese men in their mid-30s sat. They were exactly the type who frequented the maid cafes in Akihabara, and their eyes lit up as she approached. Without missing a beat, Hoshino launched into her routine:
Kyaaa! Welcome to Neko no Koi, Masters! Your brightest star has arrived—Hoshi-chan is here! I’m the cutest, sparkliest, and most fabulous maid in the café! With every step, every pose, and every wink, I’ll make your hearts go ‘doki-doki’! Let’s shine together, okay? Hoshi-Hoshi, Yay-Yay!
The men clapped and cheered, clearly delighted by her performance. Hoshino smiled brightly and continued, "nyaa! Thank you!! Hoshi-chan is so happy you enjoyed it! How about a Neko Love Latte to keep that smile going? It’s extra sweet, just...eh?
As the customers placed their orders, a strange notification flashed in English on the screen: “ChangeGPT has been installed.” Hoshino frowned and muttered a curse, swiping it away.
"Two Neko Love Lattes coming right up, Masters! I’ll whisk them up with extra love and be back in a flash. Please relax and enjoy the cozy atmosphere while I prepare your drinks!"
Hoshino headed back to the kitchen, the strange notification lingering in her thoughts. She called out the order, then clicked open the iPad screen again. The app icon, now showing a peculiar logo and the words in English, “ChangeGPT: Switch Version,” caught her eye. She read the name out loud to herself, her Japanese accent softening the foreign words, before tapping on the icon.
A splash screen immediately filled the iPad, bright and overwhelming. Hoshino squinted at the English text, her understanding of the language decent but not perfect. She began reading the words aloud, carefully enunciating each syllable as she tried to make sense of it.
“This… ver-sion of ChangeGPT is… re-stricted to switching physical and mental char-ac-ter-istics of the user and the target,” she muttered, pausing to piece together the meaning. “Enter your prompt into the text box with your instruc-tions and description of your target… and hit submit to ex-e-cute. The amount of time for the change to complete is… de-pend-ent on com-plex-i-ty of request. Changes can be un-done by quoting the change request and entering undo.”
Hoshino frowned, her brow furrowed as she processed the strange instructions. “Is this some kind of prank?” she muttered to herself, doubting her translation. “Maybe I’m reading this wrong or something.”
She glanced over the wall of text below the instructions but quickly lost interest, skimming past it and closing the box to reveal a simple prompt screen that looked like any other AI Assistant interface.
Hoshino hesitated for a moment, looked around to see if anyone was watching her, then peeked out from the kitchen, scanning the cafe floor and the various patrons at the tables.
“Worth a try, I guess,” she whispered, curiosity piqued.
As Hoshino scanned the café, she muttered, “This is so ridiculous.” Her gaze landed on a stunning girl in the back corner, seated with her boyfriend—perfect double eyelids, an enviable figure, and curves that were clearly the work of a skilled surgeon.
"Lucky girl. Wish I could afford those upgrades…” she sighed, fingers tapping at the prompt. On a whim, she typed in a request to swap her eyes and breasts with the girl’s. Letting out a loud sigh, she murmured, “A girl can dream,” before hitting submit.
An ellipsis appeared on the screen, dotting slowly before the app responded, “Change initiated.” Hoshino stared at the screen, waiting for something more to happen. When nothing happened, she muttered, “What am I even doing with my life?”
Hoshino breathed out a loud sigh, resigning herself to the task at hand as she made her way to the couple in the corner. She was completely unaware of the subtle changes happening to her own face and body as she approached the table.
“Welcome to Neko no Koi, Where love and cats bring joy! With a purr and a meow, We’ll make you smile right now! Hearts and paws all around, In this café, love is found! Come and join us, don’t be shy, At Neko no Koi, love will-!”
Hoshino’s eyes narrowed on the pretty girl—except now, she wasn’t so pretty anymore.
As she finished her cheerful chant, the usual grins spread across the couple’s faces, their eyes fixed on Hoshino, captivated by her performance. But as Hoshino continued her routine, she noticed something different about the girl’s face. The girl’s once perfectly shaped double eyelids had softened into the more common single lid, making her look just like any average Japanese girl.
Hoshino paused, her eyes lingering on the girl’s face, confusion flickering in her expression. “Um…Is everything okay?” the girl asked, sensing Hoshino’s hesitation.
Hoshino blinked, snapping back to reality. “Ahhh, H-How about a lovely drink to match the mood? What can I bring you to make your visit even sweeter?” she continued, trying to mask her bewilderment with a forced smile.
The couple ordered a couple of drinks, and Hoshino quickly retreated toward the kitchen, her mind racing. “Surely not… she definitely had different eyes,” she muttered to herself, her hand instinctively moving to touch her own face. She couldn’t feel the change, but her eyes had, in fact, transformed just as she had wished.
