Experimentation Results

Happy Friday, everyone!

Bit of a random post, but I thought I'd share some of the images I cooked up this week after a bit of experimenting. Now, I know many of you are aware that I only started dabbling in this insanity less than a year ago, so it's safe to say I'm still very much in the "stumbling through the dark" phase. Every week, I somehow manage to trip over a new trick or two that makes a difference—kind of like finding the light switch in a room full of LEGO bricks.

The software I use is basically a black box to me. Sometimes I push a button and hope for the best. The catch? Some of these little revelations come with a price: they turn what was a quick 5-minute render into a 20-25 minute slog. And if you’re on a mid-range graphics card, you might as well settle in for an hour, or maybe read War and Peace while you wait. Oh and these are all rendered at close to 4k resolution, which my power bill certainly appreciates.

Take the "before and after" of Lucy in the maid costume, for example. With some tweaks—mainly lighting, cranking up the resolution of the character models and adding pores (yes, pores!)—you get a massive jump in detail. You can actually zoom in and see them, which is probably more attention to skincare than I give myself.

So, what do you think? Do you enjoy seeing the fruits of my mad science, or would you rather I stash them away on a hard drive where no one (and I do mean no one, since you lot are the only ones who even know I do this shit) will ever find them?

Have an awesome end to the week, and may your renders be quick and your graphics cards strong!

P.S. There’s more where that came from—Japanese Lucy being outrageously lewd. But I need to know you’re alive out there. Don’t leave me hanging in this digital void. Hello? Is this thing on?!

The before/after or porgression pinups are awesome :)! And the occasional "What if". with some quick alternate transformation would be cool.

I use Daz with some photoshop and Lightroom to get my scenes. Daz unfortunately is not the most user friendly or intuitive software. For the learning curve has been pretty steep. In regards to clothing, you can get some really good effects using Dforce and the mesh grabbing tools. I’ve experimented with Blender a little to see if I can get better results but that’s even more complicated than daz. My recommendations for daz is YouTube and ChatGPT are your best friends. You just gotta have supreme patience and a willingness to fail. Have a look at how crap my first comics are. As long as the content is somewhat interesting people will be interested.

I'm super interested in behind the scenes stuff, I've been trying to learn DAZ over the last year and never get anything looking good, I'm usually overwhelmed by the madness of the interface. Do you use DAZ or different program? (I'm interested in making clothing effects like too small/ too big etc, and I think I was getting closer in VAM and HoneySelect than I'm getting in DAZ.)

Alright! I’ll do some stages for Erica and Steph.

Before/after or progression pinups for the main characters at the end of a story are always sick.

I love doing “what ifs” and pin ups certainly aren’t an issue. Any requests?

Awesome tests. But if it's too much of a hassle: Some ulta HQ pinups, e.g. of key scenes or what-ifs, are realy appreciated but for running comics quality to rendertime is an important issue to.

I say show us more of your mad science !!!

Shap

I agree completely. The most painful part for me is how long for the scenes to load, so it’s not even the actual rendering!

I do think that for comics like these, you do start to run into diminishing returns at some point. Big, noticeable upgrades like lighting and resolution are usually worth it, but at a certain level of detail you're just spending time on detail most people won't notice. It's important to find the right balance between what looks good and what you can actually render in a reasonable amount of time.
