Chapter 97: ....At least they are getting along? That is something right?
Added 2024-06-26 13:00:07 +0000 UTCEverything had gone as well as she could hope for, Rossie had managed to finish her job evolution even though there had been some problems here and there. SheâŠwasnât quite sure how that had ended, to be honest. Elizabeth had this weird foreboding at the back of her head that she had helped. But all she could remember was how she had rushed into the [Soulscape] and try to help with the mana rampaging, also with some extra stitches.
And then blackout, had she strained her [Mana Manipulation]? It wouldnât be that weird, she had, after all, just evolved her own job into the [Shadow Weaver], and since the description stated she was now a [Mana Entity], perhaps she needed to be more mindful of her own mana?
But then again, if Elizabeth had anything to spare it was mana, but that wasnât relevant at the moment. âSo, everything is okay? Are you sure? Nothing weird?â The important thing was making sure that Rossie was good.
Elizabeth still wanted to get her to the closest healer so she could be checked up, but her girlfriend was right. As of this moment, the best healer in this place was probably Rossie. She was, after all, a [Saintess of Healing]. It matched her quite well if she was to be honest. Even if no one else could see it, Elizabeth could.
How her girlfriend focused on her work while mending the wounded, how she comforted the sick, and how she brandished her spells to make sure everyone within the area she was responsible for could be healed. Even if Rossie wasnât aware how much work she didnât need to do she took it upon herself.
Elizabeth knew that the girl didnât think of herself as a [Healer], and while their classmates and the other students within the MPI had some grievances toward her girlfriend, there wasnât anyone there who could claim to be a better healer than Rossie. If you had the option to pick someone to heal you at the brink of death, most would pick Rossie after allâŠ
So long they were on the brink of death, if not they would pick anyone else. The cowards.
âYes Eli-Eli, I showed you the results of the spells, didnât I?â Even so, her girlfriend didnât want to be double-checked!
What if she had some weird mana blockage or something!?!?
Or what if she had aâŠaâŠ. mana constipation!
âŠ.â So long you are okayâŠâ She wasnât aware of many diseases or problems that you could get from a botched attempt at job evolution that ended in mana discharges.
Elizabeth wasnât a [Healer] after all, she wasnât even that good at the whole Magical Girl thing either, she had sidestepped from the normal job evolution, unlike Rossie who was now a [Magical Girl - Saintess of Healing]. Elizabeth was now a [Mana Entity (Shadow Weaver)], perhaps at level 50 she could pick a [Magical Girl] job again.
But for now, she needed this to make sure she could track down Alice and Elemental Weaver.
âWhat about you Eli-Eli? You got the job you wanted?â Rossie asked while turning the attention back at her, âCan I see?â
So cute! How could her Rossie look this cute after almost dying?!? This was a crime!
âOf course you can, you can always look,â Elizabeth answered while opening her arms and taking a step back, this wasnât needed of course, but she liked how Rossie eyed her. It made her feel pretty.
â[Identify],â But her girlfriend sadly didnât eye her that much and instead focused her mana into her eyes as she cast the [Skill].
âHuh?â And then her eyebrow trembled as she did a double take, was something wrong? âElizabeth? What did you do to yourself?â
What?
âWhat do you mean? [Identify]â Elizabeth said as she used the same skill to look into her own status. Everything was fine, she wasnât missing any skill, nor was something out of placeâŠ
âI can see three status. One says [Magical Girl - Shadow Attuned], the other says [Villain - Shadow Attuned].â Her girlfriend said frowning her cute and adorable face. Again, there wasnât anything wrong with that. Those were her layered status.
âYeah, they set itself up like that after I picked my new job,â Elizabeth answered, sheâŠcould somewhat move them around, but they returned to those descriptions if she wasnât paying attention. So, she would leave them like that till she got a new layered one. For now, the [Magical Girl] would stay at the top, then the [Villain], and finally her own normal status.
âWell, if I look at the [Magical Girl] one, then focus on your real one. Your job is [Magical Girl - Shadow Attuned].â Her Rossie said, that wasâŠinterestingâŠâ But if I read your [Villain] one first, then turn to the one that should be real, it says [Villainess - Shadow Attuned].â
âŠwhat?
âAnd if you ignore the [Layered Status] and try to look straight to the core?â Elizabeth asked, that wasâŠsome weird System Shenanigans, was this thing broken?
âThatâs the thing, before I could do that, but after thisâŠI canât pierce it in one go, I need to go through one of the layered status firstâŠeven though I am whitelisted in your security nodes.â Her Rossie grumbled, âI am still whitelisted right?â
âOf course you are, you could even walk straight to the core of my [Soulscape] and break it if you wanted.â Elizabeth said while nodding, âPlease donât do that, I will be really annoyed if I need to try and piece it back together.â
âŠNo wait, could she even piece her [Soulscape] back together at that point? It shouldnât be possible, but why did she get the impression that it was possible? Her [Instincts] told her it was, and her [Knowledge] skills also told her it was possible.
But her common sense told her that when a [Human]âs [Soulscape] was broken, they would die. And her [Instincts] and [Knowledge] also confirmed that, maybe her skills were broken after allâŠ
She would need to check the warranty.
âMaybe your job has a weird thing? The [Shadow Attuned] jobs do have a better [InfoSec] after all.â Rossie said biting into her fingers, Rossie no. Please, I will get hungry if you do that. âWell, it is better this way, at least this way we will not have to worry about your [Layered] status being discovered, at worst they will think you have hidden some things for security. Not like it isnât common in the higher order of [Magical Girls] to have a few things hidden away.â
âIt is common? Mother never said anything about that.â Elizabeth said, no wait. She didnât, right? She got the impression that her Mother wouldnât bother with something like that at least. Not that the [System] was a thing then⊠They did have [Spells] to check what one had within the [Soulscape] tho.
âCanât imagine anyone trying to scry the Mother of Magical Girls. And even if they did, chances are they would fail. I at least wouldnât dare to try itâŠâ Rossie smirked back at her, âSo, with this done what is next on the agenda?â
What was next indeedâŠThey got the green light from Rossieâs parents, she got her job evolution done⊠They got real state, she had the papers that confirmed her ownership of the house she had lived in AvalonâŠ
âWe are done with all that had been planned for this visit as of now Mistress.â Aura was the one to answer that, rightâŠthey were in a public settingâŠkind of.
âWe could make sure everything is in order with the paperwork you got.â Rena chimed at the side, rightâŠ. that was a thing. She needed to get it checked by a human lawyer. She of course trusted her minions to do a good job checking it, chances were that the one that did so had been some kind of mega lawyer from the Saintsworths that ruled Aquila.
âHmmâŠ. we will do that then, do you know a good lawyer we can use Rossie?â Elizabeth said turning to the pink-haired girl, she didnât know many lawyersâŠOr well, Elizabeth knew SOME lawyers, but they worked for her parents, andâŠ. well, she couldnât afford those types of lawyers. Or even if she could, chances were that they wouldnât entertain the words of an orphan girl.
âWe can check up on the paperwork, I doubt my Father was dumb enough to try and pull a fast one. And from what he saidâŠ. Your house seemed to be under a mental compulsion to make sure no one would keep it.â Rossie chimed in with her opinion on the problem, right. There was that too, right? Wonder how that would feel.
âSo do we just pick a fancy lawyer and go from there?â Elizabeth asked bringing her phone out and doing a quick search, just in their immediate area there were at least fifteen lawyers who seemed to work with real estate already.
âSure, we can bully some civilians into checking it, as soon as they notice the properties came from the Singh, they may run away either way. So donât feel bad for bullying them.â Rossie said while moving to her side and checking the search results.
Well, if they would run away, might as well pick a fancy one.
âAfter they run away do we get to keep the money? I may have an income source, but we need to set up the bank accounts and maybe get a trust fund? Schooling can be expensive, so the sooner we get it set up the better.â Not like Elizabeth ever thought about that, but education was important, Rossie would need all the medical schooling they could shove her way. There was a limit to how much one could brute force a spell with mana.
âOh? I didnât think you would be looking that far ahead Eli-Eli.â Rossie blushed while placing her hand over her stomach, did she have a stomach ache? âWhat name should we pick up? If you are thinking about schooling, then do you have a name ready?â
A what now? The name wasnât important though? What did it matter how the university Rossie went to?
âNot really? Did you have one ready?â Elizabeth asked, maybe Rossie had a university she wanted to go? Elizabeth didnât mind it that much, so long they could spend time she would maybe try to go to one near? Not like she needed it that much, but she could always use the extra curriculum for whatever she wanted to do later.
âI like mixing names, so maybe we can use half mine and half yours? Eli for the first half and my Rossie for the last? We fix the weird pronunciation, and we get Elisse.â Rossie was blushing very hard at the moment. Also, why was she mixing their names for a university?
Was there a university that dealt with Healing with their names? If her parents were in the mortal world, she could see it happeningâŠBut they werenât anymore. And at least for now, they hadnât sent any Oracles telling their followers about her relationship with her.
They were, even with all their misgivings good parents who thought about their daughterâŠ
âŠ. ohâŠ.
Rossie was blushing while caressing her bellyâŠlike how a pregnant woman might do with their babyâŠMixing their namesâŠ. Thinking about the futureâŠa trust fund for schoolingâŠ
âAh,â Elizabeth cursed her bimbo brain. For at this very moment, she would admit it. SheâŠhad acted like a bimbo.
â...Yes, Elisse is a cute name. We can use that one.â So, she answered in positive while not thinking about if she was blushing like Rossie or not.
âAnd, andâŠRenaâs one can be Elina.â Rossie added a second later, âThat way Elisse will not be lonely. I hated being a single child in a mansion.â
RENAâS WHAT?!?
RENA?!? SAY SOMETHING! DONâT BLUSH AND HIDE YOUR FACE WOMAN!
â...I like that one, but Iâm not a [Magical Girl], same sex relationships in normal people donât procreate,â Rean said in a downcast tone.
âThatâs fine, while I can carry Eli-Eliâs baby, Eli-Eli can carry yours. She can take your mana and gestate one within her belly.â Rossie smiled motherly at the red-haired girl.
Hello?!?
Didnât you hate her? Actually, werenât you like, cold to her a few days ago?!?
YOU DIDNâT EVEN LIKE KISSING HER, NOW WHY ARE YOU HELPING HER?!?
âOhâŠSo Eli will be the Father of your daughter, while Eli will be the Mother of mine?â Rena said with a blazing resolution in her eyes.
Rena?!?
âYes, that way Eli-Eli can be the Mother and the FatherâŠâ Rossie smiled, her eyes matched the fervor in Renaâs eyes.
Hello?!?
Donât I get an opinion?!?
âIâŠhadnât thought about it being possible, butâŠI wonât mind itâŠIâŠdonât think my lifestyle could accommodate pregnancy. My training is too harsh on the bodyâŠno child could survive it. But if Eli is willingâŠâ Rena turned to her, she was using the puppy eyes too!
BEGONE TEMPTATION!
â.... we will speak about next year.â Was all that Elizabeth could say at the moment, she wasâŠ. not sure what to think about that. But her eighteenth birthday would be an interesting affair.
Actually, could they even make what Rossie wanted possible?
She was aware that her birth had beenâŠ. odd, but was it really possible to have a daughter between two girls? Magic was a thing that was very real, but even so. Was it that easy to get someone pregnant?
â...then we can match their clothes, yours and Eli-Eliâs can have red and blue, while mineâs and Eli-Eliâs can have pink/gold and blue.â Rossie was too busy speaking happily with Rena.
It was weird, she didnât mind it of course, if both girls could have a more friendly relationship, it was all wins in her book.
âWhy does yours have two colors?â Rena asked back, and would you look at this. Rena was even questioning Rossie!
Progress!
âBecause my mana has golden hues when it interacts with Eli-Eliâs Mana, if yours shows a new color we can add that to the clothes. If yours takes a golden color like mine it would be for the best.â Rossie said, no wait. Why would Renaâs mana have golden hues?
Wasnât Rossieâs golden color because of her affinity to [Holy] mana?
âHmmâŠ. I will look into it, I think a trifecta of golden, red, and blue would be for the better, it would match Elisseâs color too, so Elina wouldnât feel left out if her outfit only had two colors.â Rena added in a small tone. âChildren can be quite cruel.â
â.... We can check their clothes later too, and I vote for onesies.â Elizabeth chimed up at the end. âThey can have their own motifs, hearts for Elisse, and a Sword for Elina.â
That was a mouthful. So many Elis, she would end with two Elis being an Eli herself, maybe she could send a vote to her minions for new names?
âYeeees~~â Rossie answered in a happy tone, âSo, whose will be the first one we visit?â
âI think this one could be good,â Rena said pointing to one of the search results, it was a man named William Engine. A weird name for a lawyer.
âWilliam Engine, usually only takes jobs from the less fortunate, he hates the rich and nepotism,â Aura said at the side bringing a file with the man in question.
The file had his full name, and a brief recount of court cases he had fought in, both wins and losses. Most of the losses had been from his clients admitting to the chargesâŠand usually in those he never represented them again as the file documented evidence of them taking bribes.
No wait a second.
âWhy do you have this, Aura?â Elizabeth said to her maid.
âWe thought you would want to corroborate the information, so I sent the scouts to check on the nearest lawyers, currently they are doing background checks in the farther spots from here. So, we will have those reports when you need them.â The purple-haired maid said with a small bow at the end.
âGood job Aura,â Rossie congratulated the maid with a nod and a smile.
âŠ. Would she need to give the girl a child too? SheâŠdidnât like her like that.
âOn we goâŠ.â Elizabeth said unsure of what Rossie thought of her, she didnât mind how her relationship was shaping with Rena. ButâŠbringing a kid into this? What if Rena decided that she wanted freedom. Actually, Rossie hadnât said anything about their link either.
âOh, before we move on Eli-Eli.â Rossie said stopping at the doorway, âLook.â
And with a smooth motion, Rossie placed her hand above her chest, and with a flourish, she pulledâŠ. a chain. Elizabeth could feel the connection within the chain as it went straight towards their shared [Lock], the same way Rena had been able to do it with their own link.
⊠Would she?
âI decided that I like you too much to let my own insecurities dictate what we do. So even if you want to break it, I will not allow it.â Rossie said as the girl poured as much mana as she was able into the thing. Making it sturdier.
Elizabeth braced herself to make sure their connection didnât move an inch toward her way, to keep it at 50/50⊠and yetâŠ
âHeh, I know you donât want to change the status quo between us, so I didnât change that.â Rossie smiled mischievously at her.
Then what did she change? Elizabeth prodded the connection, but nothing had changed. The chain still went to her [Lock] and stood there, then it connected to Rossie. The connection was sturdy as always, the chains shone with a golden color while her azure mana traversed them and made a loop between the two girls.
NothingâŠno wait⊠Elizabeth looked closer into the links between each part of the chain, each and every single one of them seemed to shine with a golden hue that wasnât there before, Elizabeth commanded some of her mana and tried to chip away at them.
Only for the small part that she damaged start to heal itself in seconds, Rossie had added her [Healing] property to their shared linkâŠMaking sure the thing besides being sturdy it would regenerateâŠ
Making sure nothing could permanently destroy itâŠ.
âOhâŠdidnât know you could do thatâŠâ Elizabeth said as she looked at the chain resting in her girlfriendâs hand. â...so, we are together together?â
âFor as long as I can fuel itâŠyes, you are stuck with me. Not even [Odyssey] or [Framework] will be able to free you from me Elizabeth Starbright.â Her girlfriend smiled viciously at herâŠand she knew in her mind that she should feel fear, for that wasnât the smile of a lover, but of a predator.
But all that Elizabeth could think at the moment was âRossie looks so hot right nowâŠIâm getting in a dangerous mood!â among other things.
âNot [The gods]? Mother and Papa said that they wouldnât mind us together.â Elizabeth asked, it was a weird way to speak, usually, Rossie encased everyone in the god's category.
âNo, recently I found that there was a [Goddess] I could offer my prayers to, so I canât use it like that anymore.â Her girlfriend smiled at her, was Rossie now under her Mother?
âŠshe didnât want her Mother to look at her kissing her girlfriend, but if Rossie wanted thatâŠwell, she could respect itâŠShe wouldnât be able to look straight at her Mother again though.
âIt isnât [Odyssey], donât worry.â Her girlfriend reassured her, that was good to know.
But then which goddess was she praying to? One of the pseudo-fake ones?
âDo tell me about that one later, Rossie. I wonât mind offering my prayers to a [Goddess] you find worthy of prayers.â Rena said as she walked up to them, she was no longer holding her katana.
âSure, we can pray together later when Eli-Eli is sleeping.â Rossie smiled at the red-haired girl and said as such.
âWait, I canât join the prayer session? Why not?â Elizabeth said confused, not that she would pray to that goddessâŠIf she was going to pray to a [God] it would be to her parents, to be precise, to Papa.
âYou donât need to, I need it because my [Job] as a [Saintess] needs it. Rena can maybe get a good [Swordswomen] variant, maybe get the extra boost for the [Sword Saint].â Rossie said, âBut you? What help will it give you? Unless you want to sidestep from the [Magical Girl - Mage] route into a [Cleric] one?â
Yeah no, she didnât want to do that.
âFair, but if you better not start a nighttime orgy when Iâm not aroundâŠ. or while we arenât eighteen. Actually, if you want to do that, it's on you. But I will not join till next year!â Elizabeth added in the end, they were their own girls, they knew what they could doâŠ
Besides, if it helped make the relationship between Rossie and Rena betterâŠElizabeth was willing to overlook a few nighttime shenanigans between her two girlfriends.
Everyone was comfortable with different things, after all, she wasnât comfortable going that extra step while underage, but if Rossie and Rena wanted. Who was she to stop them from doing it?
AndâŠshe could always take a peek and enjoy of the sceneâŠmaybe record it for later use? She ought to have some spells that could do that. Actually, werenât her minions able to hide from Rossie? She could delegate that to one of her minions!
One that didnât have an egoâŠAnd wasnât answering to Beatrice or NyxâŠYes, she would do that. Wait, what was she supposed to be doing?
Heh, surely it wasnât important, she had more important things to plan for!
Like spying on her girlfriend making, it out with her other girlfriend!
Comments
Poor lawyer is likely to have a heart attack. Also interesting that her [Job] isn't quite able to be viewed even by Rossie. Granted, as a mana entity she could fit in either of the old magical girl or powered categories.

2024-06-26 16:08:13 +0000 UTC⊠those names will confuse all of the readers so much, you know that right? We donât need more Elis! Cute though, and nice to see Rosie and Rena get along. Definitely want to see some scenes of these three with kids. Elizabeth will finally get to see what itâs like dealing with a kid who wants to be normal with gods for parents from the other side. đ€Ł Thanks for the chapter!
