Sketch #104

Slowly getting back to commission drawing, while I still can.

About the current sketch. Fist at all, I pretty quickly choose what character's poses should be in this piece. Yep, in a one moment I have to change some of the character's details (like the changing position of the legs, arms, or tail) but it still didn't take a lot of my time. The provided scene on this sketch turned out very balanced and compact, as I expected. There was only one thing that made me doubt myself about future work - is the amount of details on it. I mean tentacles especially.

Tentacle themed art, was the original order from the commissioner, so technically this current sketch is fine, but on the other hand: this kind of scene, for me always requires a lot of time for doing linework, coloring, shading and etc. all because of the massive amount of elements. Well, hah, tentacle themed art always has a massive amount of details! Doesn’t it?

Anyway, with my doubts about it, I tried to "cheat" this situation. Also, I got an idea from KLN, to try turn this art into another plant theme (yeah, like if I don't have enough plants in my gallery already! XD ), so I did this one as experiment, and showed it to commissioner. Commissioner was ok with it... but suddenly, not me.

The second sketch really has a fewer amount of the details now, but it loses to the previous version in composition. I did more attempts, to get all elements more compact, and not let it spread to a different corners of the space, like it was on the first version of the sketch, but I didn't succeed in that. So... I gave up and decided to go back to the previous version of the sketch, what you see now first on this post.

Maybe... ma-a-y-be I will get back to the idea with a plant theme, but this would be only for next time, after finishing this commission.

Now about my next moves. Just do not burn myself out on the work with the same art. I will switch my work between different drawings. One of them, would be another art which has been commissioned by another person. So, in my next move, I plan to make and publish here the sketch from that art too. This shouldn't take much time, and you may see a new publication here maybe even by the end of this week.

Then later, I will switch back to the commission of of this current sketch and will start to do linework. Maybe, if I am lucky with my time management, I also could try to do shading for this piece. But I'm really not sure yet about spending my time on finishing personal arts too, since I already have a lot of drawings in this month.

Whether this December is going to be active enough for me, you may see more arts, sketches and WIPs during this time.

Wish me creativity luck, please)
