The end of men? Soy Boys, Himbos, and baby girls unpacked Khadija Mbowe

I very much agree with the guy who said that he thinks the rise of 'soft boys' as being akin to adding more colors to the palatte, and those colors being more acceptable. I think that's a great way to think about it; that men are unlocking more options for expression and how to be masculine, rather than having masculinity taken away. I think it is also interesting how one of the guys mentioned, "protecting the weak" as a trait that he viewed/was ascribed to him when he was younger as being, "feminine". That struck me, because that is so counter to my own experience, where 'protection' of any kind was ascribed as being solely a masculine trait. The babygirl thing(that term specifically) is still a bit weird to me. Like, while I get the playfulness of it in the way that it is presented in this video, I suppose the people who I see use that term, tend to fall into the category of people; usually cis, straight women, who.... use the ideas of softness/femininity in men solely as a vehicle for homoerotic fetishization/shipping of real life human beings, rather than, say... I dunno, the way one might look at a cute puppy or something. So the nuance presented here is nice. Speaking of playfulness, this video also made me wonder, "well, what would more patriarchal men consider to be 'fun'. What do those people enjoy? Is being playful or silly in and of itself a non-masculine trait?" I wonder if they would lean more towards the Puritan idea of fun, in that a thing has to be 'productive', or maybe simply competitive in nature to be worthwhile.
