Daigo Zakura
Added 2018-07-02 00:55:30 +0000 UTCOne of the most famous sakura trees in Japan- nestled high in the mountains of Okayama Prefecture. It's more than a thousand years old, and named after Emperor Go-Daigo, who stopped to rest there and blessed the tree.

It’s because it’s a Sakura tree! Certain sound skills in Japanese change to similar sounds, depending on the word or syllable in front of it. “S” and “z” are one of those pairs. It’s also very common with “k” and “g”. For example, koro/goro is used interchangeably. (It refers to a time period. Like, kodomo (child) goro would mean “childhood”.
