Let us know how your Linux adventure goes! I'm not much of an artist person myself, but I've done coloring stuff with Gimp and a Bamboo tablet on Debian before. It's pretty awesome, though I've always missed non-destructive editing features in Gimp. Krita is probably much better for drawing, though.
