Without them, we wouldn't have tomatoes all year long: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bumblebee#Agricultural_use Sadly, they are negatively affected by industrialization just like bees and other insects...

Urrrrgh, imagine being a male Buff-tailed Bumblebee! What a terrible life! All you would do all day is have sex, and eat, and have sex, and never have to go outside, and have sex, and never have to work, and have sex, and... where can I sign up? But seriously, it's good to know all this! So Bumblebees are quite snuggly, and they can withstand colder temperatures? I suppose I should have worked that out from their fluff, but it's good to see it confirmed here. And that must be awful for the burrowing animals to have their home taken over by a big bumblebee! It'd be like if one of us came home to find some hairy, sharp-toothed goblin had stolen all our stuff, and then the goblin pushed us out and locked the door behind us!

You're quite unlucky... The only instance I can remember when a bumblebee stung someone is when one of my brothers (he was 3 at the time) sat on one.

I like and respect bumblebees, but I have had too many unfortunate instances involving bumblebees and my neck not to keep my distance from them when I can.

bumblebees are gentle creatures. They're unlikely to stick and quite cute. We used to have a giant flowering tree at my parents place (it sadly died due to an undetected fungal infection a couple years ago), but in summer it would be literally abuzz with bumblebees. The little ladies falling from the tree drunk on all the nectar. My brother and I would scoop them up and put them in the sun to rest up when that happened.

I never tried petting a bumblebee (I thought I'd get stung), but it seems quite nice. I see lots of them at my parents', but I currently live in an urban area and they are quite fewer...

My favourite thing about bees is that they can perceive time

Bumbles are my favorite type of bees. My mom gets tons of them in her garden, and it's always a treat to watch them as they feed and "bumble" about c:
