have a slice- of me being sick :D

I wanna do more of these quick autobio comics. I always have.

I read a whole saga of short autobio comics from a friend that made a book out of them and I love how nonchalant some of her drawings are, just adds to the charm of it. It's in French, so not all of you would be able to appreciate, but I'll still share her instagram just in case: https://www.instagram.com/camille.vanhoof/

Anyway, I'm gonna go play some Hades now, cheers ;)

Love the cat on the bed.

As a 100% straight male, it was a useful introduction to the ideas of gender normativity, how society used to force gender reassignment (and still does), and why it's so damaging. It's a two-decades old book, judging it using contemporary standards (just recall how homosexual people were treated then!) is wrongheaded and counterproductive. I would still recommend it to people of my generation (early millenials) who have little to no experience with intersex people. The important thing about the book is it gives plenty of space for the reader to empathize with someone who isn't gender normative, and that's what people of little experience need.

If you like spooky fare, might I recommend any given book by the late, great Wilum Pugmire. It's kind of a thing that their Sesqua Valley setting seems to have an entirely lgbt+ population.

I had it recently too, and it kicked my butt for 4 days. I hope you get to feeling better real soon. I'll be sending all the internet love I can muster.

Chris Miller

ooh, yes, it's a great story! there's an intense teenage crush that felt very relatable haha. the discourse surrounding it in queer circles is interesting and not everyone likes it. I think i recall transfeminist writer Julia Serano having some harsh words. I still 100% encourage reading the book (i can't lie, i loved every page of it) but it's worth also contextualizing it.

Absolutely, she's as much a lesbian writer as a historical fiction writer if you need to categorize her, but first and foremost she's just a fantastic storyteller. I'm curious, have you read The Paying Guests by any chance? A couple of people i recommended it to found it a bit boring apparently (what?! how!?) but i absolutely adored it. One of the main characters is named Lilian ;)

I really enjoy Sarah Waters' writing, she's a great author (lesbians or not!)

clover

Take care and get well soon! Speaking of Hades, I can really recommend song by Dan Bull about this game called "Daddy Issues". It really helps to get in the right mood to get through the game :)
