Upload Notes: Unheard

Hey everyone! Hope you guys have enjoyed the story, or look forward to diving into it~ This was something I got done err relatively quickly, a simple premise that my girlfriend really wanted to see explored with a few specific kinds of interactions. I get the feeling this story might miss some folks' interests, which is understandable (and just something I've gotten used to thinking with almost every story lol); it's a quickie original with an emphasis on a particularly niche size interest. BUT I'm sure there's some out there, even amongst my Communion, that will be really excited to have such an ear-oriented story haha.

I guess I should talk about the ear thing. Well one thing you can now know about me: I love having my ears licked. Or touched, or pretty much anything! So I definitely uh drew from personal tastes when exploring some of these ideas, hah. Now, don't get me wrong, Natalie is no representation of me or anything like that, but I did project my ear-related feelings onto her. Ear-fetish content is definitely something that is rather hard to appeal to, even worse in the written media -- most ear content is so audio-based, like ASMR stuff, but personally I don't really get into that stuff... not too much...... usually............ For me I really need the ear being touched itself, just speaking into it is cute but, eventually you gotta spit into it.

My throat, too! God, constantly when I was writing this story, my throat kept feeling so dry. Claire has to scream... so much! Hah, this is kinda why in almost all my stories, I handwave the whole volume thing. Most of the time, characters can just talk openly to one another without much of a problem -- I usually go by the rule, "if the giant can see you/is aware of you, they can hear you" -- but in this story, it's central that Claire can't be heard. Sooo much yelling, and I'm so empathetic to this sort of thing lol. It kinda made me rush the dialogue a little bit towards the end, since I was just sort of done having Claire shout so much. Maybe this is a weird writer thing for me?

I was actually going to rush this story a bit faster, but I've taken some deep breaths and meditated on my writing quality for a bit... and something I've kinda concluded is that I'd much, much rather have a decent-sized library of works I feel satisfied about, than a huge library of works I'm always second-guessing. Now, it's just sorta in my nature to second-guess all my writing, haha, I just have so many regrets literally minutes after posting anything~ but I'm trying to get in the habit of, well, not living so regretfully, and instead just produce what I want. And to do that... I really have to give myself the time to write how I want, without just trudging forward so recklessly. It's a new pace for me; I prided myself a lot on my ability to "just keep writing," you know, just push onward and get words to paper, finish the project. I think I have to transition now into a new speed of things where I trust I'll reach the end, so I have more energy to focus on improving things.

That being said, for Unheard, I had to go back a couple times to add in some extra meat. Not even really "meat," more like, "juice." In my first draft, I was kind of sparse on details, thinking more about the checkmarks in the story to hit. This was good for building the bones of the story, but going back, I spent more time painting out the finer details. For Unheard especially, the details are super important; the ENTIRE story hinges on the immersion of being inside an ear, so I really had to sell it! And after a few reads, I think I got it well enough haha~ The ear is just a weird thing to explore tbh, it's not a conventional errr entrance into the body, a strange place to be tiny in for sure...

Sorry for the delay between uploads this month~ Like I said, I've been trying to put more time in refining my work rather than just speeding through things like I had been. Hopefully the quality shines in this one~ Admittedly, the ending is a bit abrupt, but neither I nor my girlfriend could really think of a way to conclude it lol. It's not meant to be that entrancing of a story, so I think an open ending like this works to its advantage, gives you plenty of space to think afterwards, "what would happen?"
