Life Setup Notion Template [Limitless OS]

A combination of templates for knowing yourself better and creating a clear vision for yourself

One of the many awesome mini-templates built into Limitless OS.

Check out Limitless OS 3.0 in action:

This template is the combination of 3 of my other templates that will help you answer the following questions. Check them out individually for more information.

  1. HOW WELL AM I DOING NOW? - Wheel of Life
  2. WHAT DO I STAND FOR? - Core Values & Vision Statement
  3. WHERE AM I HEADED TO? - Goal-Setting

1. The Wheel of Life

There’s always something pulling at our attention: work, kids, social media, aging parents, the list of life categories goes on. In our fast-paced society, it’s easy to lose the balance that we crave. As a result, it’s easy to neglect important areas in our lives that bring us meaning and fulfillment. This is where the Wheel of Life can help us out.

This is where the Wheel of Life can serve as a highly useful and informative resource. It helps us look at each of these different life categories and identify which areas are doing well and which areas we need to allocate more attention to.

2. Identify your Core Values

Values are a part of us. They highlight what we stand for. They can represent our unique, individual essence. Values guide our behavior, providing us with a personal code of conduct. When we honor our personal core values consistently, we experience fulfillment.

Our personal core values are what encompass our foundational beliefs, which then dictate our behavior and guide us to make the decisions that we do. Our values are broad concepts that can be reapplied many times over in our life in various situations to guide our actions.

The identification of our core values is very beneficial for creating a path, a vision for ourselves, and setting clear goals. Without being aware of our core values we may end up chasing big, shiny goals, just to realize later, that it is wasn't what we wanted at all.

You may add a nice picture of a big house and fancy car in your Vision/Dreamboard, just because this is what is expected of us. But maybe you don't care about this at all. Maybe your dream is a nice and cozy apartment with a beautiful family.

3. Set Your Means & END Goals

For decades the most recommended and accepted method for goal-setting was SMART, which is an acronym for: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-based

While some of those criteria (like Specific and Measurable) may be fine, other parts (like Achievable and Realistic) make SMART goals pretty dumb.

Why?

Because too often they act as impediments to, not enablers of, bold action, and actually encourage mediocre and poor performance. Achievable and realistic SMART goals seem to say.

“Don’t push beyond your resources, don’t bite off more than you can chew, play it safe and stay within your limitations.”

This is why I encourage people to think differently about goal-setting.

SMART goals can be fine if you use them well and understand that these goals are more like milestones (means goals) rather than actual goals. However, the most common goal-setting mistake (in my opinion) is to confuse END GOALS with MEANS GOALS!

End goals define outcomes where you’re unwilling to compromise — they describe exactly what you want. Means goals, on the other hand, define one of many paths to reach your end goals.

4. Write your Personal Vision Statement

A vision and mission statement is a paragraph that encapsulates everything you would like to be, do, and have in your life.

“There is no favorable wind for the sailor who doesn’t know where to go”. - Seneca, I sec. AD

Imagine you can find a compass that tells you precisely where you have to go. You can easily choose between one thing and another, thanks to this extraordinary tool. This would be great, right? And this is exactly what a personal vision statement does.

A personal vision statement is a statement that describes your values, your strengths, and your goals.

It can be focused on life or professional goals, and it is intended to orient you toward your long-term dreams. It is a tool to help guide your actions when important decisions have to be made or in particular transition moments.

Successful people frequently review their personal vision statement to get a sense of direction, fulfillment, and to live their days more joyfully.
