Has Javale now proven himself enough to stay on the team? And with JB out? What do you think Alchemy?

Wonder if Nick was reading, tonight vs Kings he was 4/6 3's, 12 pts in 15 mins. Very efficient.

And at the same time, COACH can't put the ball in the basket for them. All he can't try to do is discipline them for not doing what he wants them to do, but since he needs them to play he can only pull them early, which is what he's done when they suck on D, if they mess up and replace them with the other. But when they're all sucking, he can't just sit em. Someone has to play. Need a 5th.

This is the NBA though, so it'd half to be like 1000$. Ian Clark had such a high offensive IQ and new his job was to score. Flabby P knows he's supposed to shoot, but he does it on his terms because he never cuts to get open. Just cuz he's supposed to, so there's never really any separation. His only open shits are when his guys help and he stands still. Cas does act like his job is to score unless it's on a back door. He only ever looks to keep it moving. And PMac, bruh I don't even know. He plays like he's 8 and just entered a pick up game cuz the grown ups were a guy short.

Do what the NFL does and fine his ass for every pound. Coughlin used to fine the Giants players 500$ for every pound

You can't control what your player eats, but you can control his exercise. Make him come into the facility 30 minutes before every practice and have him do some lower body non-intensive excercises.

Are you sure the way to fix the bench is to trade players? By most accounts we have a better bench than last year but they are performing at about the same level as last year, so isn't this more of a COACHING matter?

I agree the biggest liability is Zaza, however it seems only fair with the obvious best team in the league to have some sort of down fall.

Jim, I wasn't being harsh on Livingston at all (S-Pee is Swaggy P, in case you misread that) and I like Javale. I just think they have too many bigs and not enough smalls, they have six centers and so Javale doesn't get enough work and Damian gets to watch the games on TV. When they signed Casspi and Young and let Clark go last summer I thought they were becoming too obsessed with the whole mid-sized length thing, and I think that's hurt them, the roster is deep but unbalanced. I think the three thing is overrated as a problem with the bench, if you get energy and defense from the bench and guys who can hit midrange like DWest and S-Dot their minutes will be fine, they just need that quickness and energy. I'm not overreacting to what I think is a kind of temporary shooting problem, I'm looking at a balance problem that's been there all along. Right now you have the perfect storm - Javale brings energy but doesn't play, Jordan brings energy but is hurt, and Iggy, McCaw and Casspi all have cold feet re the three. I think one can get too lost in that. I mean, look at KD lately - is he suddenly on the trading block?

I agree with you on this, as much as we need another scoring guard we need a big man to counter Capela and Adams or even Jokic.
As much as I love Zaza and his screens, he is a liability when matched up against HOU or OKC.
With JaVale, I appreciate his height and hustle but he will just get murdered on the PnR against Harden/CP3 and probably bait him to foul. JaVale is not a very good perimeter defender but he is a high leaper.
The only way I see it is to hopefully continue to develop Bell to be ready for the playoffs but I still think Bell is too small to defend Capela or Adams.
Out of Capela, Adams, NurkiΔ and Jokic, the likely bigs weβll see in the playoffs, I am most concerned with Capela because he just is a threat and fits so well with what Dβantoni is doing.
Looney can hold his own with perimeter defense but again Looney is too small if he just simply gets posted up down low.
We need a big more than another guard IMO. I donβt know if there is any out there, OβQuinn ainβt that of a big man.

I'm looking at this in terms of the playoffs. GSW doesn't have a traditional "bench". At all times, we have at least 2 All Stars on the floor. And in the playoffs, Kerr will likely put in KD to start the 2Q/4Q, like he did last year. So, does our "bench" really need to be fixed when we have that kind of talent on the floor at all times? The teams I'm looking at are HOU and OKC. We gotta look at our matchups against them. The glaring matchup issue I see against both teams is at the center position. Capela and Adams are problems. We just saw how badly we got dominated inside by HOU in our last game. Zaza is barely even playable against HOU. Looney, Bell , ad even West can't matchup against Capela. So, it makes sense that the only true rumor has been about us being interested in Kyle O'Quinn. That's the guy we should try to get.

What do you think about hitting up the Clippers for Bradly before he gets himself situated in L.A.

It seems they're throwing in the towel for this year, DeAndre will be gone soon and most likely Williams. They get prospect and a draft pick and an expiring contract. We run the risk of getting a rental in Avery Bradley, but depending on his production we can probably resign him if we're willing pay a bit more into the salary cap.

Okay, let's talk about the aspects of this that don't have that much to do with the players. If everyone has been operating on the basis that Iggy was signed because of what he brings in the locker room and the playoffs, how do people react if he's shipped out because he had a bad first half? What does that do to the team's mental stability? The way Kerr has been playing it all year means he can't do some kick inna ass thing, as if he was just BSing all year. And has he kind of created this problem with all his experimentation and players not really knowing how they fit in yet? My feeling is you don't move Bell, period, and I'm close to that on McCaw, this is the future and we don't want to start turning into the Cavs, and these are really cheap pieces. The two guys who can be moved are the cinnamon clowns, McGee and S-Pee; the former because Kerr either has to use him or he's roadblocking Jones, and the latter because he's actually getting paid something to do something, and that something is what they're missing. Omri isn't getting that kind of money and he actually does things even if he did forget there's a 3-pt line out there. And the only way they can deal S-Dot is if they get a reliable ballhandler in return, and one who is younger and paid the same or less, plus he's got to hit the 3 or what's the point. The best thing would be to deal one of the bigs (not Bell or West) and Swag, because that means a 2-4-1, which means no one in exile in Santa Cruz, maybe a bit of salary dump, and maybe a slightly better player. But my feeling remains that they need a little energy guy with speed and quickness and willing to deal; Q. Cook was a poor man's version of that, and the right version of him could make the existing pieces work. When you have West, Casspi, Iggy, Young and Livingston on the floor, everyone's 6-6 to 6-9, everyone's in their 30s (or will be in 5 months), and only one guy was ever really a 3-point shooter; it's just too much of the same. Maybe what's needed is to change the energy level of that group. I mean, even Ian Clark would help right now.

I like that 3 way trade and it makes sense because I'm hearing Joe Johnson wants out, but is an Iggy deal even enticing to the Jazz other than his locker room advisory? I think just maybe as if Jazz can find their groove they can sneak into that 8th seed and Iggy will be beneficial for Jazz in playoffs

We need a shooter.. or someone needs to find their stroke. Bell will help in the playoffs defending small ball lineups.

You are making it seem like Bell is the answer to the 2nd unit. Bell is a complimentary big/power forward and he is usually in the rotation when Dray and KD is back in the game at 7 minutes of 2nd quarter. David West usually eats up those big man minutes regardless of Bell being healthy or not. With McCaw, I feel like he's gotta go. I just don't see any confidence in him and time is precious. I watch Mccaw in practice and he is literally bricking his warm up shots.....We need to be at the top of our game all around and need to improve in the ever improving Western conference. Iggy's gotta go too. The reason why he had a decent game the past couple of games is because he got a weeks worth of rest. Now can you shut Iggy down for 1 week throughout the season just to have him come back fresh?
2018-02-02 02:16:57 +0000 UTC
Soon as Bell gets healthy, the bench will be fine. That, and the offensive coach has to find a way to get Mccaw out of his slump which is all mental.

This is a much needed topic. 2nd unit is a glaring problem, against tougher opponents. Even though our bench has been the #1 rated bench the past couple months, they are relying TOO much on Klay and practically no other shooters in that 2nd unit. One other thing is I feel like it's time to play JaVale more and early. We need another big. JaVale gives us that height in the post and we need that as our interior defense is just horrendous. We need another guard/scorer but most importantly another big man.
