Warriors vs Jazz || Game 82 ||

Comments

I use to do the same thing! those corner seats were the best bargain. The effect of Steph hitting 2 or 3 in a row is such an crazy effect on a game. The team feels like they can overcome anything and the other team feels like it may be the beginning of the end.

Athletic Alchemy

I do think there is a rope a dope at play..but aye! Ali could have got knocked out.

Athletic Alchemy

His gifts have caused some bad habits, moving without the ball, boxing out and protecting the ball off the first step. He just never really had to do it as young player.

Athletic Alchemy

I have the Jazz beating OKC if I was in Vegas thats the bet I making. Love Quinn!

Athletic Alchemy

Interesting take.. I think he needs to pull a LeBron and gt off social media for the playoffs

Athletic Alchemy

It was almost to let us and the Jazz know like...we aint playing at all!

Athletic Alchemy

Agreed...but lets see what he looks like Saturday, Like Richard said he has been giving very little effort on purpose.

Athletic Alchemy

I wouldn't say "intentionally" playing casual after December because you damn well know they were playing their hardest as they still had the 1st seed, especially when they matched up against HOU twice in 1 month. I just don't buy that excuse. I can say they just had off nights and the ball wasn't going in. We are making it seem like this team is still light years ahead. Let's face it, teams caught up and they aren't the juggernaut of last year, which is fine. The problem this year was injuries, I mean with KD and Steph, they were both in and out of the lineup which threw off rhythm. We can't base intensity and full effort if the full squad ain't there. *************But all this don't matter now. We probably have the best road to WCF with SAS as 1st round. Unless Pop makes me eat my words and Spurs somehow steal a game or two, it should be easy, matchup wise. Key is getting Curry back healthy for whoever comes out in NOP vs POR

A leader is one who can inspire his teammates to play better. Draymond, Chef, and Ig are our main leaders. KD is not. He's a scorer, a closer. If he were to play defense again he could be a leader. We will see.

Nirky

Kerr even admitted after the game that he told his players to not put themselves in any risk position during the game. GSW has been playing intentionally like this for a while. Maybe others haven't noticed it but I have. Just go back and look at the games we played after Curry first got hurt back in December. The defensive intensity is night and day. Watch KD in those games, he's going off and putting his entire repertoire on display. But sometime during this season, probably around late Dec., this team decided strategically to play it safe and not wear themselves out for the playoffs. Remember when everyone was talking bout KD as DPOY? KD has stopped playing full effort on defense for months now. These guys are saving their energy for the postseason. And both Zaza and Javale's PnR defense is bad which is why we will probably see Looney or Bell start at center in the playoffs. Kerr knows who he's gonna start at the 5 against SA but he isn't tipping his hand. It will be Looney or Bell. I think we're gonna see a different level of intensity on Sat. Everyone's gonna be looking for KD and Draymond to flip the switch but you can't forget about Iguodala. Iguodala has been listening all year to all the noise about him being washed up. I think he's gonna show the world why he got paid. If Iguodala plays well, we are hard to beat. When Iguodala scores at least 20 pts, GSW is undefeated in the Kerr era.

Good ramble AA... Warriors fan here since the Webber draft... buying low-price miniplans to see Danny Fortson, lol. Re the moment: Not sure a team can “turn it on” the way they think they can... hope I’m wrong. Like you said, it’s on KD now. Personally, I think Steph is not only the heart but the balls of the team... people underestimate that based on his appearance — but he’s been the leader.... now we find out if Durant can lead.

percussion boy

Well even though we are playing very poorly Vegas has us a 10-1 favorite over the Spurs.

Nirky

You are a breath of fresh air AA! It's like we all ate dinner at a new Mexican place and we are packed in a train car that is starting to stink to high heaven. Everyone is sitting around trying to ignore it. You come in and say "Whoa! Something stinks!" and you start opening up windows to clear the air. If we ignore the meaningless win against the Suns, these past three losses have been brutal and painful. I keep hoping the Dubs are planning an "April Fools" video about the end of the RS after they all flip a switch for the playoffs but I'm not holding my breath.

KD just doesn't move without the ball, sorta like Lebron. When you have explosive guards who both work so hard off the ball, it doesn't get highlighted and effect the offensive, but now without Curry, when KD doesn't have the ball, he basically has no effect on the offense. He has to move and create gravity. I think its a gift actually that we most likely will get OKC, because their is a fire that is forced upon the squad. hopefully, it ain't gonna be no sweep until Curry's return thats for sure.

Stevie Ray

Even Kerr made a comment to Quinn Snyder at the end of your clip. I read his lips saying, "Oh yeah I know.... I was fucking scared he was going to get hurt! Honest to god!" I'm sure he was talking about KD. I have a soft spot for the Jazz, since I am a Bay Area transplant living in Salt Lake City. However, I think he Dubs were playing mind games with them so they'd be cocky going up against Portland. The Blazers doing us a favor knocking the Jazz into the 4th seed so we don't have to face them in the 2nd round. Assuming the Dubs make it past San Antonio. Go Warriors!!!!!

Mitch Moyers

I think KD is annoyed that he is back in a situation he left in OKC. I really think it's bugging him. With Steph out there aren't as many places for Draymond to throw the ball, leaving the offensive pressure on the shoulders of a two-headed monster. Klay and Kevin, just like Rus and Kevin. Teams know you do everything you can to stop those two, and more so than not, it's been working. There was a time in this game there Draymond has the ball just a little over the 3-point line, and Utah didn't sag off him, they simply didn't guard him. He wants to pass, and this year so far, pretty much has to. Cook was not taking some open window shots others created for him. He would drive into the line and being so undersized couldn't create much, and doesn't get fool calls. With all that being written, finally what the Heart and Soul of the team said at the beginning of the year, is they're less hungry to play well in the regular season. Okay, fine. Regular season over! Now let's see if they're ready to give a damn. One round without Steph! As a championship TEAM, they sought to be able to do that. I think they will. I think they care.

WarReady

Thanks for covering the game Alc. I have been getting bent the fuck outta shape by Warriors losses the last couple of seasons, and was yelling at the screen at the bar for this last game of the season, but I had to take stock. I ripped myself up inside being a young sports fan with the 90s Bills and the 2000s A's, and I just don't think I have the gas in the tank to get all pissed off like I used to get. I just think the 40 points is a bad look. FORTY? This is the first time this season I've been legit scared of getting We Believed in the 1st round. Heavy is the head that wears the crown, right Dubs fans?

Major Powers

hey alch! do you think the bad performance in this game has anything to do with the fact that the warriors are trying to make their bracket matchups better? i haven't really looked into it, but if the warriors won last night, the jazz would be at 47-34 team, which mess up seeding for the warriors and give them a matchup they don't like.

I will put poll up.

Athletic Alchemy

AA if you do a video prior to the Warriors 1st playoff game, I would be so interested in the other patrons predictions of how the playoffs will unfold for the Warriors.

Steven Stanley

Good take! I think It would have been one thing if Omri was healthy but he never is. Like iv said not sure we can play Za much, although a Spurs or Wolves match I think he can be used.

Athletic Alchemy

I like that concept Steve... Your right for IG and Shuan if not now! When! This is what we payed for..if it costs us their health so be it. If im Kerr I don't play Nick unless the game is out of hand. But with Pat out probably not possible.

Athletic Alchemy

Thats a good point...KD, Klay and Dray could all work on their bodies and athleticism( Steph does a lot). I think they have got a pass because of this run, the focus is more on recovery.

Athletic Alchemy

Im definitely guilty of that..but aye! its a players league! I do think Kerr has something up his sleeve .

Athletic Alchemy

His game is based of emotion...take that out and he is a fringe starter.

Athletic Alchemy

This is going to be a defining moment for KD. Not THE defining moment..but one that will be discussed when looking bak at his career. We will be good if he is dialed in.

Athletic Alchemy

The same formula we have had the last few seasons will not work this playoff if everyone on the squad ain't believing in the same thing. I understand what you mean when I was younger I used to be the same way but with all three squads Warriors, Raiders and A's. The move the my made with Quinn was needed but was Omri the right person to drop, that's one thing I question. I almost want to say that with the rise of Looney would Zaza been a better cut to make. Omri being another 3 pt weapon that we may need coming against Houston possible in the western finals. It would have been a popular move and I would hope it wouldn't hurt the team bond but I just felt as if Omri was a bigger part needed for a playoff push. Quinn has a great ability to shoot but I feel he is a defensive liability much more then what people would say about Steph. But it was just a thought. Cant finish thought gotta get back into work. Lol

Jason (NONPFIXION)

I wouldn't save anybody from playing the minutes needed I would sub as if each game was a game 7 and tell my team the only way to win this year is to defend as if they are the best defensive team in the playoffs...that's how to get the offense back in "true".

Steven Stanley

In answer to ur ? as to why so many minutes for stars and risking injury, I think Steve somewhat painted himself into a corner with 3 major bench players (the wise men) who are always on a pitch count and need recovery games off to boot. Now in a normal year when all 4 all stars don't lose significant time to injury, things might not spin out of control but let's face we are overloaded with healthy bigs and banged up/limited 1,2,&3 players (and an out of shape non functional Nick Young) which has put our play style completely out of wack. I'm not Steve, well actually I am, but i'm not the Steve in charge....but if I was, for the playoffs the wise men play each game off pitch count, and every substitution keeps a minimum of 3 plus defenders on the floor at all times, unless the game is decided. Plus defenders are Iguodala, KD, Draymond, Klay, Looney, D West, Shaun.

Steven Stanley

I agree Dray is the biggest disappointment this year, the turnovers from his homerun attempts are silly. Your point that Dray can't shoot so his assists are the only thing that gets on the highlights was spot on. But I do believe he starts playing better next week. He can still guard anybody and few test him. Missing McCaw and his D, hope he comes back, don't want Sloppy to see any light before garbage time. I think they are resting Bell and he may be more of a factor in the playoffs than we think, especially if he can hit the 15 footer which he must. Damn this team seriously needs to get fired up, they have been playing so long like a last place team winding out the season, My hope is the match ups get their competitive juices flowing. One last thing, we are almost always the weakest team on the floor, we focus on long and lean at the expense of strength, Houston is to a man stronger than we are and they are a shooting team. Anti up for some juice and hit the weights.

Russ

Sometimes we gloss over Steve Kerr mistakes in terms of rotation etc. I'm a fan of KD although he does/says some stupid shit at times but don't like how some fans dog him for this bad stretch that's been riddled with injuries. It's clear that since steph went out warriors gave up the no1 seed so some of these losses were inevitable. However I don't excuse the manner of these losses. If Kerr sees kd playing like garbage he needs to sit him like pop style and the same goes for steph. If you're a true warriors fan you shouldn't really care who brings the success don't matter whether it comes from be if steph or KD. Don't want this to turn into a shaq and kobe which I don't believe it will as this team has high IQ and knows that everyone depends on what's greater for the team. Kerr should've not played the starters for this game as it was pointless especially after going down by 20. I personally think that once the playoffs start you'll see a very different team that brings it's A game especially on defense. Keep the good work up alchemy tho as I know this game was difficult to watch let alone to break down and analyse!

Draymond Green is my favorite warrior. He is the "Heart beat" of the team, but he hasn't been that as of late. I hope that the playoffs will bring out the juice in our guys. Looney has been a marvel to watch. KD has been disappointing as well.

adrian salazar

Regardless of who we play, I see the first half of Game 1 being very close and competitive but with a lot of turnovers, ending with a 4 point lead/deficit. I think the whole series will then be defined by the 3rd quarter. If we make adjustments and come out firing, my confidence will be restored. But if we don't, and dig ourselves into a hole for the 4th quarter, I'll really start to sweat.

thomas

Good point...question is, if we go down in rd 1 do they rush him back?

Athletic Alchemy

"I'm fucking tired of this shit" :D me too, me too....

Literally the only positive I have for this stretch is the rest and recovery steph’s getting for that ankle. We know that his knee will be just all-right, but this becomes essentially almost 2 months of recovery for that ankle that just hasn’t been right. Imo it’s his best bet for a healthy playoff run.

I want the spurs

Athletic Alchemy

We should be rooting for Minnesota and NOP tonight, Denver is not the team we want to see R1

I will say he is the player that is most reliant on big meaningful games. Like thats what he thrives on, so if anybody was effected most by playing meaningless games its him. That said, there is a reason they are eyeing AD.

Athletic Alchemy

got to buy him time..

Athletic Alchemy

I truly hope you are right and it’s simply a lack of interest. Currently it’s looking bad. Giving the fact Steph wasn’t around for a long time, let’s pray chemistry will be still there when the chef comes back.

David Lenzini

Draymond has been a huge disappointment his basketball iq has deteriorated and his defense is lacking. If he continues like this into to the playoffs and next year, why would we keep him.

What up Paul! haven't heard form you in a while! Let me ask you, have you lost interest in the team this year with the "pacing" and injuries?

Athletic Alchemy

I don't listen to sports radio or read much sports news, so I appreciate your take on the awful end of this season. It feels good to commiserate.

Paul Cox

Been waiting alch
