journal/chat with me | ep. 6 ✸

hi everyone, i hope you're all doing okay!

this weeks video is all uploaded and ready for you, although the captions are still processing. they should hopefully be done soon.

unfortunately i don't have anything else to share this week- it ended up a bit weird and busy as we had an emergency boiler replacement monday - tuesday, usual errands-day wednesday, filmed thursday, today is friday! however, i did order the physical copies of the halloween ghost cards, so i'll work on arranging a preorder for those of you in the uk ready for next week (for halloween sticker sheets, too!).

i hope you enjoy the video- it's one of those ones where i'm not *quite* sure im making sense, but hopefully it might be just enough sense.

i hope the weekend is good to you all 🙇🏻‍♀️🖤

take care and speak soon, friends x

edit: captions are ready! 🫡

Im finally figuring out what works for me, personally! I need a planning space that is just that, right now, ive been using the hobonichi original A6 and im making a weekly to do list on a Monday as you showed with the cousin (as a coincidence, but i thought it was cool we thought the same sollution), that is because I plan my weeks all at once, I find that that way I find the right balance between rest and work, which I can't do planning monthly or daily. I think next year im going to buy a week's tho, it seems more appropriate for that. And I also journal and commonplace and I use two separate books for that, just because ive always used a journal and I dont like that with my commonplace entries because my journal entries are usually for ranting about things and talking about how im sad and stuff, i get it out in that long form journalling, and i hate it when im looking through my commonplace and I see that because my commonplace is for collecting things that make me happy and that is just a different mood entirely. So basically, I have three books for each mood; one for planning, one for ranting journaling, and one for collecting cool things, and they just cant mix because they wouldn't vibe with each other's mood.

I was going to comment this too! Good I checked if someone else had said it. It seems that´s exactly what Megan wants.

Oh, I totally understand wanting to have two books, one for journaling/commonplacing and one for planning. It is what I have done for the last 4 to 5 years (or even longer?). I noticed that I needed to be able to take my planning with me and I did not want others to see my journaling when I needed my planner for taking an appointment etc. I currently use a Hobonichi A6 for journalling and a Day Free A6 as my planner and notebook on the go. I think I will get another planner for at home, just to keep my to dos in. I noticed that I somehow need more structure for my to dos (the bullet journaling method does not give me enough guidelines anymore), so i am adjusting. I have changed my system many times over the last years, I think it is super normal. But as you say it is good to have some consistency. For me it has always been using Hobonichi and having my A6 journal.

Loved this and am super excited to rewatch this when it’s time to set up my weeks for next year!☺️ I have been experimenting quite a bit this year too, because of drastic changes in my workload and struggling to keep up with it all. A Cousin + weeks system is what I have decided on for next year too, after all the system hopping (I was a bullet journal girlie at uni, but it fell apart completely when I entered the work force and I have been struggling with it and missing my old system for two years now, still heartbroken about it tbh). The portability of the weeks mega while you can still fit so much into it is honestly so perfect🤩 I keep separate, slightly chaotic journals on the side, which are books where I stick a lot of stuff in. I got pencil boards (A5 + A6) for them with my 2024 hobonichi books and have been loving them to combat the weird writing experience since - maybe that might be something to consider if the bulk of your cousin starts bothering you more🤔 hope you have a great weekend! Take care👻

I use a Weeks, Cousin, and TN. I use the left page of my Weeks for a daily summary and the right for tasks, the back for big hobby project notes. I keep my Weeks in my TN with an insert for journaling and on-the-go commonplace. My Cousin's weekly pages are for tracking POTS symptoms, the daily pages are commonplace/collections. I'm trying to swap my symptoms into my Weeks, but I just don't love the layouts I've come up with so far and then what would I use the weekly Cousin pages for? There's always something lol

All year I’ve been using a Weeks as my planner and an A6 Arts and Science planner as a journal space. I still love the weeks, but I think since you and Lindsey are both using a Mega it is inspiring me to get a Mega as well. I’m going to ✨experiment✨ with daily to do lists back there. The only issue I’m having with the A6 is it’s sooo chonky with all the bits added in. So I might switch to the A6 Avec! I hope you have fun with the Weeks tho, I’ll be looking forward to your content about it.

I was also thinking about that while watching! The Sterling Ink TN horizontal weeks booklet is still for sale, and it's the weeks layout (but with grid on the left hand side!!). Not really any notes pages though :(

Was also going to mention this! I have absolutely no idea when you would be able to get one, though.

Heather

The temptation I am having to purchase a Hobonichi Weeks but Megan took the words right out of my mouth. Why is the left side blank with no grid? :(

Such a lovely video, I wish you all the best in terms of comfort&stability in your notebooks, and hope you have a great weekend!

Loved this video Megan! It feels so full circle seeing you in a Weeks again! I love my Weeks so much and I only knew of it and discovered it through you. It has been such a life-changing (gosh that's so dramatic lmao) book for me. I use the weekly pages for to-do lists and to see what events are happening on what days and the notes pages for daily journaling. It is a bit random of Hobonichi not to put grids on that weekly side. Maybe you could use that weekly side as a media page? Like what shows or books or music you watched/listened to that day? Xx

Dozy Ghoul

not sure if this is helpful, but sterling ink came out with a planner this year that is basically a weeks mega but with grids on the actual weekly page as well! they were preorder items and they're not on the website anymore i think, but she put a video up on yt going through all the planners (sterling ink on there as well). maybe she brings that out again for 2025, might be worth taking a look :))

This was so nice to watch. The here's a smaller practical space and here's a bigger more room for embellishment space makes so much sense
