Added 2023-11-05 15:50:38 +0000 UTChi everyone, i hope you're all doing ok!
obviously there wasn't an upload on friday- i had hoped to, but spent wed/thu catching up with orders and friday running them to the post office, so it didn't really work out as planned.
this coming week i'm working on a new 'week with my notebook' video, and thought i'd upload the talking segment here early for anyone interested. things have changed a bit again and i thought it might be nice for you guys to be a bit more ~in the loop~ as i work things out over the next few days.
now that halloween has passed and things are starting to settle before the final push of december, i'll be starting work on some winter bits. thank you for all your recommendations and requests! naturally i've made a little list 🤓⛄️ the weather has *finally* cooled down a little here, too- for most of october it was still very humid and a bit stifling, but the last couple of days there's been a definite chill lurking ❄️
that's all for today, i think! happy of course to answer any questions about the above video, and also still taking notes/requests for the winter work if anyone has them. hope those of you living with 'bonfire night' aren't too badly affected. it's always a nervous night in our household 🐶🎆 but likewise hope that anyone participating has fun! please stay safe.
take care and speak soon, friends x

when you find your goldielocks size in notebooks, that is a hugely satisfying thing

2023-11-13 17:29:39 +0000 UTCthis is exactly the system i used 2021, 2022, and the first half of this year! i journaled and memory kept in the avec, planned and commonplaced in the day free. i LOVE the a6 size, and am so excited to see that it might work for you too! very much looking forward to seeing how this system works for you over time. thank you for sharing your books and your thoughts in these videos—i look forward to them each week 🌻

2023-11-12 22:16:39 +0000 UTChii new to your patreon have really enjoyed watching you find your way to your 'planner peace', its interesting how we sometimes go around and then come back again! excited to see you do more illustration work - I totally get what you mean by constantly restarting books and having to set up again and again, its very frustrating! would be very interested in buying the sterling ink notebooks you have left to sell, wanted to try them and am curious!

2023-11-10 18:11:27 +0000 UTCHere where i live is only getting hotter 🥺 . I love the journal with me or videos that you talk about journaling ,it's a topic i can about it for hours 🥰

2023-11-10 16:53:43 +0000 UTCMy first planner was the A6 Avec and I’ve been thinking about going back now that my planning system is totally different, but I already panic-bought 3 planners for next year. 🫠 I guess I’ll have to see if I’m still thinking about it at the end of 2024 lol

2023-11-09 03:04:12 +0000 UTCit is really nice. I always feel overwhelmed by the dated planner. but to be honest, I am afraid that you may go back to the ring system again.

2023-11-09 00:46:19 +0000 UTCCouldn't have seen this at a better time! Thank you so much for sharing 🖤 I haven't been able to stop thinking about an A6 notebook as a possibility since you've uploaded :') I've been using a weekly planner this past year (think Hobonichi weeks layout but A5) - using the left page for journaling/highlights of the day, and the rest as planning/to do lists and tracking, and I finally came to the conclusion I need to separate the two as I don't have enough space for either journaling or planning at this point! I've been hyper hyperfocusing on researching notebooks for about 3 weeks now and I think I finally got it :') I think I'm going to have a chunky A5 book for long writing, dreaming, processing etc. Then going for a more portable B6 size for my weekly planner just for planning, and then 2 midori A6 (should fit 6 months in each) for every day memory keeping and nice things I want to look back through at the end of the year! That's a v long ramble, sorry :') Your videos have helped me out so much to figure out what I need and have been such a comfort through Bad days, thank you thank you so much 🖤 I hope the new system works for you and supports you to live and create as you hope 🖤 Can't wait to see it all x

2023-11-08 23:23:06 +0000 UTCAlready enjoying the hot takes on A5 vertical weeklies (I agree!!) .. this has helped me land on the following 2024 approach: ♛ In an anone-anone cover: ⎿ A5 Day-free as main calendar and bujo ⎿ A5 hobonichi notebook as my "diary" ♜ Weeks for work ♞ TN standard for occasional art/collage/scrapbook ♟ Sterling Ink passport weekly (horizontal) as an EDC ... we'll see how that goes, ahhahah ✌︎ (tempted to start a tarot journal as well but think I'm just gonna fold that into my diary)..eeeeep

2023-11-07 17:00:53 +0000 UTCif i fill the day free book (definitely a possibility), i think I'll just get a second one? im 15 or so pages in now and i like it a lot (format and size wise). obviously if i end up needing a second book, half of the calendar in each would end up empty, but i guess that isn't the end of the world 💭 it's really a lovely notebook- would recommend!

2023-11-07 15:39:26 +0000 UTCWow I have literally been looking for an A6 notebook with page numbers and I couldn’t find one! Maybe I will use the day free 🤔 Also, what are you planning to do when (if?) you fill up the day free book?

2023-11-06 22:28:50 +0000 UTC🖤 Ian Curtis 🖤 PS hi from a new ND/spooky-adjacent/planner-journal-notebook-loving patron! Glad I can support you, your channel, and creativity - it is all so deeply relatable and really helps me regulate and get things done!

2023-11-06 22:01:04 +0000 UTCim hoping so! i feel like the day free is a less popular choice, but it has a really wonderful set up if you don't need the weeklies. i hope your a5 stalogy is good to you in the year to come!
Megan Rhiannon ✸
2023-11-06 10:47:04 +0000 UTCthanks gemma! it's nice to be back in the a6 books again, i'll look forward to sharing them 📓
Megan Rhiannon ✸
2023-11-06 10:45:53 +0000 UTCthat resonates a lot, thank you for sharing! your use of 'rundown' feels very similar to what i mean when i say "seeing something through." definitely deep in the fatigue stage at this point, but thankfully i think it's all nearing an end. thanks for your kind words and support!
Megan Rhiannon ✸
2023-11-06 10:44:45 +0000 UTCthankfully i don't mind the blue of the day free too much, but the avec books are truly awful 🫠 im glad you were able to cover it and solve that issue for yourself! i'd like to cover mine but im a bit worried about making a mess of it (even though it's something i have a lot of practice with!)
Megan Rhiannon ✸
2023-11-06 10:42:47 +0000 UTCi think the weeks is spoken for, but if you want the sterling ink books, drop me an email! (also yes to the sizing up if i need to!)
Megan Rhiannon ✸
2023-11-06 10:40:21 +0000 UTCyes, i really hope it's all coming to an end! thanks for the kind words about the collage, it was a lot more fun than i expected it to be. kind of want to make more ✂️ i hope you have a good week ahead!
Megan Rhiannon ✸
2023-11-06 10:39:12 +0000 UTCthe worst thing when recording is being able to hear how nervous and frenzied i can sound 🥲 i hope you can work out your indexing issues! rooting for us 💪🏻

2023-11-06 10:37:54 +0000 UTCI love this for you! It sounds like a great balance of systems. I've been in an A6 day free this year and it's been such a good time. My needs have changed for 2024 so I've moved to an A5 stalogy for now, but I'm looking at doing an A6 stalogy when I fill it up. We'll see!

2023-11-05 21:36:37 +0000 UTCSo happy for you finding something you vibe with, you sound quietly excited in a different way to with other systems. Also nice to see A6 back, as I use it myself and love to see inspiration.

2023-11-05 21:13:09 +0000 UTCAlso if no one has taken the sterling ink / weeks I’ll be happy to buy them ☺️

2023-11-05 19:51:52 +0000 UTCI totally get the fatigue of going thru this process. I use the term 'rundown' for myself. My mind gets into the mode where I have to rundown learning about something or rundown all the data for making a decision. Sometimes I can let it go. Most of the time I know I have to see it thru to the end, so the quicker I can run something down, the quicker I can move on. And sometimes with decisions I just get to that fatigue / saturation point and have to just pick something. It can be tiring but I try to enjoy the process. Thanks for sharing your process. I've enjoyed following along.

2023-11-05 19:31:10 +0000 UTCI feel myself wanting to grab a 2024 day free now (: I recently realized the Day Free was the most complete & used notebook(s) of 2023. I just didn't want to bring it around often because of the blue cover >.< Last week, I found some craft paper from daiso to put on the cover, added some washi, and now it's easily my favorite to look at and use.

2023-11-05 19:05:35 +0000 UTCI think the best option about this system is you can also size up if you need the space and essentially double it for the second half of the year ! I like it ☺️

2023-11-05 18:48:44 +0000 UTCthanks for sharing, megan ! it sounds like you're coming to the end of your planner exploration and i'm happy for you :) hopefully this works out and is the system that works best for you. i think it's going to be! also, i'm obsessed with the collage you made with the photo of ian curtis and your stickers 🤩 hope you and your loved ones are doing well ❤️🩹

2023-11-05 18:47:35 +0000 UTCThanks for the update video!! By the end you sounded so much less frenzied and I was really happy to hear that 💜 While listening I was making notes for my own planner problem (indexing is so hard for my brain ) and it also came together I think. Good luck to both of us hahaha

2023-11-05 18:26:12 +0000 UTChonestly after spending a big chunk of the year in a5 books, filling two a6’s just won’t be an issue for me anymore- it used to feel like a lot, but it doesn’t now. my practice in general is more refined, the routine better kept. so it’s a non-issue, nothing to reconcile!
Megan Rhiannon ✸
2023-11-05 17:21:25 +0000 UTCOne of the things I remember you saying about your original setup was that it bothered you to have empty pages in the avec while you were progressing more slowly in your commonplace book, and that's what started all the changes. You did try to combine them in the second avec I think, but swiftly moved to the weeks. How have you reconciled this particular issue with empty pages/two books? Or are you more confident about it just working itself out? Just curious since that seemed like one of the things that kicked off all the moving.

2023-11-05 16:58:29 +0000 UTCI genuinely would love to buy your weeks book!! I have been thinking about buying one for next year but can’t justify paying full price atm, so you saying your selling yours has kind of made up my mind haha. If I can grab it before some one else that is! Thank you for posting this! This seems like a good plan for you and I really hope that you have finally found the one set up for next year!! ❤️🩹❤️🩹 Edit: by full price I mean with import fees attached lol

2023-11-05 16:56:58 +0000 UTCyes, i’ve been duplicating a lot too! hoping this might be the solution- no awkward spreads left to fill 😅 everything has its ✨place✨
Megan Rhiannon ✸
2023-11-05 16:47:56 +0000 UTCyeah i'm feeling like it could be a cute project to put together ☺️ i have just finished the video and am vibing with this approach so much. this year i was working across the cousin and weeks and i felt like i was duplicating so much and i resented filling out those awkward weekly spreads.

2023-11-05 16:46:40 +0000 UTCthank you! i hope it works out. looking forward to sharing the full video at the end of the week 🙇🏻♀️
Megan Rhiannon ✸
2023-11-05 16:46:38 +0000 UTCi had a similar problem with the weeks with only really needing one of the pages, and then wanting more room from the back pages. if you don’t mind drawing out the to-do lists, then the days-free could be a good fit for you! i like it a lot, especially because it still has the calendar. it’s 179 pages, so enough for 52 weekly lists but not for a page a day, if that makes sense! its a lovely size and feel. lmk if you have any questions about it/i can help at all!
Megan Rhiannon ✸
2023-11-05 16:44:27 +0000 UTCi made it as a little “test” to cover the back of one of the books, but i think i like it more as a bookmark! on thicker paper or maybe with some lamination i think it could be really fun 👀 alternatively just as a little decorative slide-in collage page. either way, i recommend! much more fun than i anticipated lol
Megan Rhiannon ✸
2023-11-05 16:41:41 +0000 UTChey i was wondering if the piece of card/paper with the ian curtis photo is a bookmark you've made for yourself? i've trimmed down my a5 pencil board to work in the a6 for next year but seeing that ian curtis paper there has made me think a collage bookmark kinda thing would be a really nice way to add "decoration" in a really tailored way where i won't feel guilty for wanting to change it up in a few weeks/months.

2023-11-05 16:39:04 +0000 UTCAnyway, thinking of drawing a pros and cons list comparing everything I like about the Weeks (I’d get the Mega) or the Day Free A6. It’s useful to know what my year would look like before I purchase either—if I’m working or going to school—whatever my needs are. Good luck with your week in the notebook video!
jas
2023-11-05 16:32:22 +0000 UTCI was thinking about the day free too—tbh, I’ve been using the Spring start weeks all year and it does ✨work✨ for me—but then I started filling out the back pages of the weeks book this October….I found that I wanted more space to do that. I could take or leave the actual left side of the weeks layout itself. So I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place with this. Either the weeks or the day free, and having to draw the rolling weekly spread every week anyway in either book?
jas
2023-11-05 16:28:52 +0000 UTCThis definitely sounds perfect for you just in hearing you talk about it. You seem more excited about the process. Excited to see the journal with me 🩷 hope this works for you
