Dear Patreons, Soulscorpion here:A message of my friend D-Z, you can also read it on our blog:
Come smoke through
As you can see there are virtually no updates in the past few months.
There have been some changes made in my life. I have been a chain smoker
for more than 10 years and this time I have decided to quit. I have
successfully stopped smoking for almost 2 months now. Some people
believe that diminishing cigarette consumption is a good approach but
these didn't hep me stop at all. Even nicotine patches and stuff like
that. These things just maintain peak withdrawal and would just prolong
your suffering until you come back to your old habits. So yeah cold
turkey is the best way. Just survive for 3 days then go for 2 weeks.
Just imagine this as a test of will.
My doctor told me that for every cigarette that you smoke the damage
don't come until 20 years later. Like if I started smoking when I was 18
years old then I will feel the first real destructive effect of that
stick when I am 38. So if I continued on smoking until today then I
would just keep further damaging my systems. Now let's assume that this
is true then we will definitely need ways to stop those incoming
negative effects. Maybe we can prevent them from happening. On some of
the stuff I've read around the net, the nicotine is purged entirely off
your system if you stopped smoking for 2 weeks. Then how come further
damage is expected? I have to ask my doctor about this but not until our
next meeting which would probably be after the holiday season. Some
suggestions I got from the net are the following.
1. Exercise.
2. Go to the sauna.
3. Smoke marijuana.
I had been playing around with these ideas.
1 requires much focus and dedication. What levels of patience you can learn from it you can apply to other aspects of your life.
2 is great. If there are no saunas near you, you can make your own
steam-bath at home, by either constructing a steam-bath room or just by
using water heaters in your bathroom. Google offers a bunch of methods.
3... Recently, I'd been smoking again at night to help me relax or
whenever I badly need cigarettes. It's bad that they totally relieve me
of my sense of focus so I just use them when there's nothing else to do
but go to bed.
What is the reason that I am doing this? I have decided that my methods
have to change. I am so dependent on 'the mood' and I always bitch about
stuff that don't really exist. I feel a lot of shitty things happening
with my body. Some people call these as symptoms of getting old but I do
not want to feel these as early as in my early 30s. Long story short I
am unhealthy. If I am going to build fantasy worlds then I have to be
healthy inside and out. I asked Soulscorpion one time if it was right to
feel guilty for not having released content in the last couple of
months but he simply told me that what's a few unproductive months if
you can come back refreshed and better than before? So I am like
undergoing this metamorphosis again like other artists do every now and
then. I just hope I can emerge as something much cooler and better
skilled than I ever was.
To those, if there are any, who liked reading some of my 'Come and Smoke
Through' posts in NG before you may remember that I wrote that stuff
for each to last a stick of cigarette. Well, lol.
Oh yeah, what does this have to do with being unproductive?
- Quitting cigarettes makes you lose all focus that you have, makes you
have a bleaker view of the world and makes you eat all day and lazy as
fuck. This also means that I have been broke for the last couple of
months. To our supporters in Patreon, thank you very much, you have
really helped us monetarily through tough times. Thanks for buying our
food. We will make it up to you!
