Hi Friends, Here is my first video I am sharing on Patreon. An Erasmus exchange student from Greece, Charis Laurijsen, enrolled in my class last term at the university I am currently working -Istanbul Technical University, Dr. Erol Ucer Center for Advanced Studies in Music. That was the critical moment for two projects I've really enjoyed for the last couple of months. The first one was 'Microtonal Bouzouki' in which we have added small frets onto the Bouzouki's fretboard. Here is the second one. We arranged and played Ara Dinkjian's beautiful Keesher Bar which means 'Night Dance' in Armenian. One of the greatest oud player, Ara Dinkjian told me that he wrote this piece one one night in Greece when he heard that his close friend Onno Tunç died in a plane crash. During the semester me and Charis harmonized this piece as there are no chords on Ara's version. It's a beautiful melody based in a version of Uşşak makam (a mode used in Ottoman/Turkish music). It's in A and the second degree B is played as a quartertone flat. F# is played -14 cents lower and that allows me to form a pure D major triad. Well, hope you enjoy it!
