I still believe in draymond, I think he's still a bit out of shape, and I think he has too much pride to not put in the work on offense.

Kyle Most

I thought I heard he was signing with Memphis but I agree he is more than serviceable.

Athletic Alchemy

tough to say what that seed is the way the west is jumbled up. Definitely dont want to give Denver HC.

Athletic Alchemy

Austin rivers just got cut from the suns. I don’t think he’s well liked by players in the locker room but I think he’d be a good addition if he played his role.

Our stardom is starting to show some of its problems here. Dray being out there and the idea of who takes the last shot is problematic at this point. I think in the playoffs they'll run the Steph KD PnR just like in the last two playoffs and things will be fine. I mean lets be clear, these games in december are meaningless. That being said, we need to make sure we get the right seed, which doesn't have to be the #1 seed it just has to be favorable matchups in the first and second rounds.

So from the multiple layups missed in the 4th, the foul on Mitchell shooting a 3, and the Turnovers at the end, it is fustrating how the Warriors can't get out of their own way at times. I've given Klay and Dray a pass for the rest of their careers because of what they've done in games 6 and 7 of the wcf last year, but it is clear that Klay is just taking way too many difficult shots and Draymond didn't watch your Upgrade Segment on his shooting. They are playing great defense so it isn't completely terrible, but still have to note that they have been underperforming to an extent.

William Mitchell

He is trying to create his own shot too much. It very hard to pretend to be hungry or have a chip. But when it’s go time the championship DNA will show.

Athletic Alchemy

The warriors need to find a chip on there soldier and hopefully klay can get out of this slump he is in. What do you think is causing klay to be shooting this poorly?

martin pattison

Here's an interesting stat of Klay's 3 pt shooting: 2-4 ft (tightly contested) - 19/61 or 31% 4-6 ft - 44/115 or 38.3% 6+ feet (wide open, in another dimension) - 19/65 or 29.2% So statistically teams should be leaving him wide open lol. For whatever reason he can make a lot of tough shots where he contorts his torsos. His form looks very similar imo.

Paradox

Two Qs Unc. I’m a Klaythiest. What are your thoughts on #11s shooting slump this season; is it a product of ball movment, shot selection or something else? Secondly, Is there a scenario where looney improves his three point shooting so much so, our best 5 becomes a Looney-Cousins combo?

@thecryptoPA

Kerr needs a play guy

Athletic Alchemy

Wasnt able to see the whole game, only the last 8 minutes or so. But holy goddamn. How has Steve Kerr STILL NOT LEARNED to call a timeout when a play is obviously going nowhere? That final inbounds play was one of the most embarrassing finals plays Ive ever seen from a championship level squad. I mean holy fuck, why was Iguodala even on the court then? Him taking the final 3pt shot? Absolute nonsense. Why not McKinnie? Even Jerebko! Yeah he wasnt having a great night, but he showed last time he can come up in big moments. But instead......you have Iguodala and Draymond on the court.....which means 2 guys can be left completely wide open and will brick their shot like 90% of the time. It was a goddamn shame. And then Steph rebounds.....and STILL no timeout. Games like these, when I see that type of decision making from Kerr driving me literally insane. Warriors didnt play well overall so I agree with you that they didnt deserve to win. But goddamn. At least lose in overtime with some fucking pride instead of shitting the bed on the final play like that. Shameful.

Jansen E

Its hard to see thing clear in the moment during these frustrating games. Think Im going to do a live this weekend and maybe open it up to Reddit. Let me see got family in town. But that's the plan!

Athletic Alchemy

I know what you mean, this was not fun to watch. Now that I watched your vid, I realize I was way too hard on the Dubs for all the missed lay ups. Steph on the pump fake take: damn, you are totally right. Oooh, I hope KD called Ingles a bitch. Just what I needed just after work, new Alch vid. Thanks!

The '16 team was much deeper and better off the bench than this one. Bogut at center gave them D and rebounding and experience, and then they had Ezeli and Speights (39% from 3) behind him, both averaging 7ppg. Now they just have Loon (6ppg) and Bell (less than 3) and no more Jones, a huge dropoff. The backups were Livingston and Iguodala 3 years younger, Barbosa, Clark and Rush, and the starter who stayed out in that unit was Barnes and not Klay. Green average 14 that year and now is at 6.5. I think the falloff really is a combination of a huge drop at center with Jones hurt and still waiting delivery on Boogie, an overall drop in experience on the bench, a multi-championship team that has a hard time getting hard in December, and a league that has caught up with them in terms of how to disrupt what they're doing. Right now I think this team is really missing Jones and McCaw, who would just give them more looks, Cousins obviously, and they have two stars who are really struggling to contribute enough on offense, Klay and Dray. So they're playing 3 on 5 and Klay isn't as efficient as he should be, and even with the number two and three scorers in the league their offense looks bad. And Steph's missed 11 games and Dray 14, Boogie all 32, and they're still only a game out of first in the west. In 15-16 they were a 15-deep team and had 11 guys who played in at least 65 of the 82 games (80%). Right now they only have seven guys who have played in more than 75% of their games. Their #4 scorer, Cook, is averaging only 8.1ppg, and he's sat out three games because he was deemed unplayable by the coach. Boogie's going to help, and of course they'll get serious in April, but I think they really need to add someone beyond that, use that 15th roster spot, either McCaw or a buyout guy, something.

You aint wrong about not moving. But I do feel there is kinda of an element of trying to be different just to be different going on as well.

Athletic Alchemy

Back to my theory, He knows on paper Dray probably shouldn't even be out there on a final offensive possession. Look it hard! He really can't pull him there, I mean he can! but then he opens up a whole can of warms.

Athletic Alchemy

Kd doesnt move without the ball and kd has stopped to some extent so I don't want to here the bullshit that we are beiny scouted well when everybody else is playing our style and winning but we have klay and kd chucking midrange 2s. Every other team know to play the jazz outside in because Gobert on the permiter will keep the paint wide open which is why the rox crush them and why they have been struggling this year kerr had yet to learn that. Draymond was blocked 4 times by that fucker Gobert he needs to shut the fuck up about dpoy and find a jump shot.

He probably practices it but it seems like no one showed him a footage of his shooting form. Klay this season has more games where he shot 20% from 3s (a.k.a Draymond level) than 40%. He is also pretty bad right now but at least opponents are dtill guarding him.

Paradox

I said it.... that is my biggest gripe with him. Not the Ts or TOV. Or even barking at KD. It’s the fact that he is clearly not putting in the work with his shot. Like that’s all he has to do every summer top of the key and corner go 2hrs a day 😠

Athletic Alchemy

He played thru.. seemed like the physicality bothered KD more.

Athletic Alchemy

He ain’t getting the full bag.

Athletic Alchemy

Bruh....Watching R. Gobert rim protect at DPOY level with Crowder showing us how a true stretch 4 gets it done....@alch...serious question, was Draymond the worst front court player on the court tonight, and if not who was worst? (Bell doesn’t count as he’s so in his head it’s ridiculous).... before you answer, consider whoever was guarding draymond could roam and play free safety /double/clog the paint as draymond gives you nothing on the offensive side of the ball when the tempo slows down and on the defense side his lack of size and athleticism is so glaring....At least Shaq eventually sat across from Kobe and admitted to coming in to camp out of shape...draymond will never admit that once KD joined the team he stopped putting in 3 ball work, period...just look at his numbers it’s one thing to leave the shooting to to the other three all stars but be ready when called, but it’s another thing when your so bad teams beg you to shoot....the west is stacked, no way in hell draymond should make the all star game this year....Steph,KD & Klay shooting for 50/40/90, meanwhile Dre on some 42/20/67...smh

The refs were not calling the fouls both ways. Curry was constantly getting hammered in the paint with no calls. What are you supposed to do in those situations?

Kahlil Baker

Draymond is really an impediment to the offense, his neglect in dealing with his offensive shortcomings is a problem and he has tried to solve that problem by trying to only do what he wants to do which is push the ball and assist hunt. Here is the rule of thumb for basketball, at virtually every level, always make the guys who can't or don't want to be the shooter, be a shooter on every play possible. Quite frankly, I am little surprised that Draymond doesn't at least employ the standard tactics of dribbling at the sagging defender and making them come guard him rather than standing beyond the 3 point line and just assist hunting but of course driving at a defender takes away the angle to make those passes to the corners for his assists.

Steven Stanley

I agree..and we shall see

Tre

The real silver lining was Utah played great and dubs played poorly, yet we're in the game the whole time. A couple simple adjustments can change that.

Okay after rewatching that last possession, I gotta question Kerr’s playcalling and his personnel. Clearly we were hunting for the 3 as they weren’t looking for a quick 2. You have Curry, Klay and KD out there but why Draymond? What’s his purpose in that last possession if he has no intention of shooting a “good” 3 ball. Iggy out there was questionable and I’d much prefer Jerebko out there shooting the open 3 even though he’s 2-7. So essentially we were hunting the 3 while playing 3-5, which allowed Jazz to double whoever got the ball, which yielded an open Iguodola who felt like he hadn’t made a 3 any where other than the short corner...

Idk man were you watching the games without Dray there? Noticeable difference to me.

Nathan Glanzer

Am I the only one who feels like KD ain’t really feelin Kerr’s system anymore? I mean each year they are both contradicting each other on how their play style should be. Kerr had to tell KD an “MJ story” in WCF to inspire KD out of iso ball. Feel like Kerr will be one of the factors he stays or goes, no ball movement moving forward if our bench is depleted and we are top heavy, which will happen when we pay our guys top dollar. (Maxing out Klay and I guess maxing out Dray)

I agree, we are too predictable and scouted.

Athletic Alchemy

It is super tough to just pull a random 3 in the second half if you are a none shooter.

Athletic Alchemy

I think Zo with his boards and offensive tools on the floor atm outways Dray’s defense. And it really doesn’t seem that Dray has a huge impact as the 5 against the top big men this year. We basically got a 4 who can’t shoot from the outside and is hesitant to drive to the hole. Trade him for some assets. With Boogie back the depth will be sufficient for this year’s playoffs with Looney, Bell, JJ, and Zo all with the size for th 4 spot. Trade before that Feb deadline.

Stevie Ray

Serious topic: is this worse than the 73-9 team from the 2016 season? Yeah herp derp we got KD but look at the chemistry, and the numbers. I'd say bench quality is similar, with some decline in AI and SL but more shooters and no Bogut. Looking back it's absurd how this team lost only 9 games - we already lost 11 and it's December! Warriors used to blow teams out, now 90% of the games we play are close and down to the wire. Why? Perimeter defense vastly improved sure, but the numbers suggest our offense is really different now with the lack of 3pa volume and influx of midrange pts. I wonder what other factors come into play.

Paradox

Draymond shoots like he got on a backpack packed with stones. Dude is in danger of being cut, I love his fast paced offense and ability to see plays ahead but his physical advantage declining and poor shooting means he will be on the chopping block between him and Klay. Gobert effect was unreal both on offense and defense like you said. Surprisingly Steph attacked the paint a lot which was good, still can't get the calls tho. And on defense he provides a lot of double help against centers like Rudy. KD said in an interview again about how they can't just pass all the time. Kinda a shot at Kerr. And I agree, there is always 2 guys who can't shoot on the floor which makes traditional ball passing far less effective. They just need more conventional plays like PnR, more slipping screens, etc. Teams have greatly improved their perimeter defense, Steph and Klay have more pressure than ever in genersting their shots with simplistic ball movement misdirections.

Paradox

I know this dude didn’t call Exum Britney Griner with a fade lol

Mac Newton

Klay has to pick it up and dray just has to get to the rim more often early so he can get some juices going to start attempting more shots. I think if he gets a few buckets early he can knock a couple down later just cause he has some feel good of scoring a little.

Tre

assist up too, he trying move it more since Steph has been back.

Athletic Alchemy

That be hilarious if the stated that.

Athletic Alchemy

Draymond shoots = turnover , thats how i feel everytime 😅

Gerrard Israel Laraga

kd turning the ball over more frequently now 🤔
