๐ | NJPW reported attendance: 11,477. Tony Khan mentioned 'over 11,000 paid' during the scrum. The difference between my number and theirs would have to be people in suites, and you can clearly see people in suites here. Does it make up the gap? Maybe. NJPW has been pretty fair about their attendance numbers (no egregious outliers from what I've seen), so I won't outright refute this. I've learned to trust my process, and in time (if Pollstar numbers come out), we'll learn more. Clearly, in some of the pictures, you can see sections 317 through 322 in the upper decks are very sparse (which was expected based off what I saw from available tickets on the ticket map). You can also see blocks of seats not used (for production reasons) in sections 113 & 114 on the hard cam side; those sections were accounted for in full, so the way I see it is even though people in suites aren't included in my estimate, you could say this splits some of the difference. It's also worth noting the map closed with 1,475 available tickets so there was no huge last second rush of sales. Even as I scan the rest of the upper decks, those aren't nearly full (besides a few that are center to the ring on the camera-visible side). All that said, the lower bowl was pretty packed, and the 200s were mostly occupied (up until section 222). Tony Khan also mentioned the show did a million-dollar gate. Also, since no one asked, the VIP package was pretty chill. There was a mixup with the VIP entrance for will call and the VIP entrance pass i purchased, once I got inside, I was given an AEW bag with a laminated ticket, magnet (now on my washing machine, Forbidden Door fitted baseball cap (very good quality) and a pic w the title belt. At merch I puchased a LIJ towel and Event tshirt with Mercedes and Vaquer on it. As everyone mentioned no wrestle specific merch which sounds off. I think AEW prints all their merch โjust in timeโ so they donโt have a warehouse full of Ospreay tees. I know the obvious answer is to print merch before shows but there is cost/risk associated with that. It is something that Iโm sure they will correct when they have stronger cash flow.

2024-07-02 17:47:15 +0000 UTCMy thoughts are that AEW can draw for PPV a lot better than Dynamite and Collision. One thing I noticed by chatting it up is that people will travel for the PPVs. I used Pto So I could sleep in on Monday but I probably wouldnโt do the same for Dynamite. I would be willing for a Saturday Collision but not a lot in the northeast for that show.
