Warriors vs Clippers |GM-2|

Here's a theory on why the dubs checked out later in the game. KD and Klay have plans post-season, maybe they know each other's plans, and Boogie is involved in where one or both of them are going. Boogie goes down and they play on. But then it dawns on them. With the torn quad, Boogie's likely to stay on the dubs. Now KD and or Klay are second guessing their outside deals, whether they'll work - whether they're going to go anywhere after all. Whether there'll be money enough for them on the dubs, especially if the other guy now chooses to stay. The rest of the team knows or suspects what's up and worries about this as well, or has their suspicions confirmed. Halftime lets them think about this, and they come back to the game thinking about trade and salary drama, and can't focus enough to play basketball.

Daniel Fries

More hilarious contrast between Kerr and KD: Kerr: "Absolutely he needs to be more aggressive. It's the playoffs and he can get any shot he wants any time. So I want to see him get 20 shots -- 30." KD: "I'm not going to go out there and just shoot 20 or 30 shots. I don't play like that. "

Paradox

If not the playoffs, then when?

guni_800

I tweeted the same thing as it was happening.

Athletic Alchemy

Agreed!

Athletic Alchemy

Kerr is saving the PnR for when we need it. If we do it now then other teams will play tape and work on counters.

Yeah, this was a disgusting game for the Warriors. I hope they are disgusted with themselves... only way to dismiss these tools from LA.

Mitch Moyers

I'm not going to lie after how sloppy we looked to start this series as soon as the lead got down to 14 I was kind of hoping in a weird way we would totally blow it. We needed a wake-up call, lose the battle to win the war type thing. This team, to get through Houston and Milwaukee, needs the proper level of anger and fear.

KuraiT

Oh yea, 1 more thing, blaming this loss on a loss of momentum, is a cheap crime against the coaching profession.

Steven Stanley

I DON'T WATCH THE ALL-STAR GAME. The worst basketball is played at the all star game because there is absolutely nothing on the line and it quickly turns into a "watch this" show and yes I realise that there are some spectacular plays. Warriors with a big lead and they think it's decided but the Clippers kept playing defense and the Warriors did not. You know who doesn't go into watch this mode no matter the score? That's Looney....with his most vanilla flavored game. The Warriors have a long time weakness of not taking care of the basketball and usually that's lazy, sloppy, unnecessary passing and 3 stars (KD, Steph, Draymond) who all like to play in an all star gear. Steve needs to find a unique set of words to explain just how stupid, irresponsible, and disrespectful to the game playing in the all star gear is. Dubs should be ashamed of disrespecting the opponent and the game itself.....and yes I've heard Steve say the ball is gold....but it's not enough Steve....it's not enough.

Steven Stanley

Awesome breakdown man. This disgusting effort honestly doesn't even deserve a breakdown like this. I will say this. This version of this team needs to feel threatened like this. It needs to feel humiliation and the heat. At this point, I've seen enough evidence that they simply can't motivate themselves without it.

Post-game Kerr said when we lose momentum, it's hard to get back. Well then why sit Steph. So what he's got 4 fouls. Let him finish Q3. Take him out like that and once he gets back in later, he's not the same. We've seen this pattern over and over. And Kerr keeps doing it over and over. And why aren't we doing more to help the offensive weapons be the offensive weapons? and oh yea, you're right Alch, Dray was great!

Bailey

I felt slightly better after watching this video.

Ben

For real. It's misusing two of the greatest offensive threats we've seen in the last two decades just to get some role players more touches. The ball is in Draymond's hands for far too long and much of it is out of necessity because he's much worse without the ball. Only thing that counters that is to let KD and Curry run PnR with Draymond screening. We'll see far less turnovers and far greater point conversions just utilizing that.

Paradox

So heartbroken for Boogie.

Nathan Glanzer

I'd love to see the Curry KD pick n roll again

YANCEY WADE

Staying on the theme of arrogance. Kerr refusing to exploit the PnR is arrogance. Just let the talent win out.

Athletic Alchemy

I wonder if we will ever be able to scan these athletes and learn why these freak injuries happen. Because this is one that rattles your faith.

Athletic Alchemy

Well said.

Athletic Alchemy

Good point, this will be the toughest

Athletic Alchemy

Not like he has ever had to learn to. The cost of dominance

Athletic Alchemy

I did see cook in the corner! I just couldn’t fit it into my tirade. It just baffles me how he is such a dumb player... like seriously! He is plum dumb

Athletic Alchemy

I hate to say it but I kind of felt this was coming with Boogie, though my prediction was he would re-injure the old injury. The man had been playing too hard for someone that heavy, it was a disaster waiting to happen. Restricted minutes should be the standard for someone of his size and weight, not just a temporary deal. Also I just watched the highlights and yeah of course i come to you Alch for the "post mortem." Perfect storm of Boogie's injury, getting arrogant, turnovers, and poor rotations and coaching down the stretch. When you revealed that Kerr did the worst possible things he could have done to try and slow down Lou Williams I just face-palmed. He's got to be smarter than that. KD I am really not happy with, and the guy seems all in his feelings. Waiting for him to grow up and quit his bitching about calls, he's made them his enemy with his constant whining so he only has himself to blame - and of course Kerr is too much of a NiceGuy to point this out to him. And Kerr, again making my fears come true that he doesn't seem to like simple pick and rolls and is exacerbating the problem of overthinking and overcomplicating the offense - when your team is passing up open shots in favor of contested cross-court passes things have gotten confused. I feel bad for Boogie but the Warriors will be just fine with Kevon, Bogut, or the small ball lineup as long as they GET THEY HEADS STRAIGHT.

Neal X

Missed the Draymond antics. Honestly it seems like they are ready to implode

Athletic Alchemy

Has too! It just came out!

Athletic Alchemy

😂💯

Athletic Alchemy

No way! It this day in age he can’t!

Athletic Alchemy

Got what I expected, double-barrel Alchemy. You've trained me so well that I got a lot of that before you said it, but what I missed you got 100% right. Thursday should be interesting. And: I feel terrible for Boogie. Man, that's such bad luck.

e40

This is some OG stuff, but what this reminds me of is the last ride of the Walton Gang at UCLA. After two straight undefeated championships UCLA lost three game during the year and then again in the final four semifinal, and Wooden was having a lot of problems with the team and their attitude. At some point he seemed to just kind of let them fuck up, if that's what they really wanted - if they would just do what he wanted they'd win on talent advantage alone. It's hard to say what Kerr is doing and not doing, and for what purpose, but his biggest issue has to be getting them to play and in a way that exploits their advantages. Durant is definitely the eye of their hurricane, and it's not like Kerr can just tell him what to do.

I was annoyed at the result.. but it didn't come unexpected. I think its beneficial when our ass handed to us at least once or twice. Otherwise, the team gets too comfortable and honestly, too full of themselves. Gotta be brought back down to earth a bit. Each of these teams are playing their hearts out. You need to come out and at least match that intensity because if you don't, not only could you lose the game, you risk being seen as supremely arrogant and disrespectful. I was less concerned about the loss and way more concerned about DeMarcus. He barely got his feet wet with playoffs.. the guy was so happy to be there, giving gifts to the team and stuff... and then THIS>??? just messed up man.

Tony H

Bro we are here for some quality content, not some hot takes from an actor hyping up 10 year olds

Paradox

Kerr had no game plan down the stretch. No timeouts, no strategy, but that's been going on for years. Kerr can't coach the close games.

YANCEY WADE

Well, some people were kind of saying Boogie couldn't play against Houston and now we'll see that, for better or worse. Loon is going to get a lot of minutes there, and maybe even some Bell sightings. Where his loss is really going to be felt most likely is in the finals, depending on the opponent, although a Denver west final, which doesn't seem hugely likely, is tougher without him.

This was a weird as fuck game

Plissken

I feel bad for Boogie and the bag he deserves and no longer will receive, but it seems the basketball gods did not fully approve of the mid level exception acquisition this offseason. For a team this loaded, attempting to 3 peat, with their 2 mvp’s, 4 all stars, a defensive player of the year, and ‘the best backcourt of all time,’ they will need to face a fully healthy Rockets squad whose hungry. And no already predetermined formalities in the East—a dog fight awaits them in the finals, if they have the mental stability to manifest what everyone has already claimed is theirs. On the bright side, when it’s all over, no one can say this chip was cheap. No cake walks through the West or broken down Cleveland teams and gentlemen sweeps. They’ll have to count this 3 peat for real, in the midst of the KD era.

Stevie Ray

I love KDs game but what else is new 😑

Connor H

Did you notice KD chirping to Kerr during one of the inbounds? I get the sense something isn't right with KD's attitude and mood right now

GG

Stephen A Smith completely roasting KD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOeamYt_LlY

YANCEY WADE

Alchemy, where do we go from here? Curry, KD, Klay, Bogut, and Draymond, hope that starting line up can set the pace and focus to continue winning

YANCEY WADE

hella

YANCEY WADE

Worst luck ever for Boogie.

Paradox

**** the game. Best breakdown ever, thanks Alch

I just feel so bad for Boogie Screw the loss. That was such a ludicrous turn of events I’m not even tripping. Let’s get some redemption ASAP

Spence

Well it doesn't help that players want a call for every little bump. Or they make unnecessary fouls on the defensive end. So refs are in a spot where they please the fans, the coaches, or the players. Certainly they are pissing off multiple groups simultaneously at any given moment. I don't think it is right that the refs get all the blame, there is an issue with a lot of things including NBA rules which are inconsistent af.

Paradox

Its insane the difference in defense we have to play and the defense the clippers get to play. Like stephs 4th was so lame, extends the arms a little, gets a foul that removes him from the quarter. I get they are not suppose to officiate the game that way, but there needs to be a talk about officiating in the off season. Like they have no philosophy on the floor. Do the refs want the games to be gritty and down and back. Or are they content with the kind of involvement they had tonight. IMO 70+ FTA is not fun basketball to watch. If I am thinking about calls after the game the refs did not do their jobs.

Chris Styner

I love how you call out these "arrogant " passes. You think Kerr calls these guys out for this hubris? I don't.

YANCEY WADE

Great video Alchemy, best of the year

YANCEY WADE

KD's effort last night was like the dude at work who puts in his two weeks notice, then hangs out on his phone all day.

YANCEY WADE

Kerr's style over substance. He won't play the matchup game even if his life depends on it, and that's with Steph and KD on the roster--two mismatch nightmares for the defender. Meanwhile our matchup disadvantages are being exploited every other possession.

Feel hella bad for Boogie... Tough to see him go down after such a long rehab process. Agree with you, hard to take much away from the matchup considering Warriors minds had to be with Cousins. Hopefully Thursday we will see them go from mourning his injury to a Championship fight in honor of him. Give the Dubs a little more to fight for. Would like to see Bell get some minutes on Montrezl. We experimenting letting Cook get cooked by Lou, might as well see if Bell can waste a few fouls on Harrell and give us some energy and vertical spacing. Might fair a little better in the pick and roll just off of foot speed and physicality. Of course, Big Looney looking like our best option overall, as you said. What you think Alch?

Kyle Walker

Steph couldn't close the deal during the fourth quarter. You'd think getting some rest would make him fresher but dude was cold as hell. Didn't take control of the offense and wasn't smart nor assertive with the ball. Bad performance from him after a scorching hot first half. And absolutely nobody could stop Lou Williams and co.

He was in foul trouble with 4 fouls. Kerr did not expect them to lose a 31 point lead with Curry out.

Paradox

The squire became the King after that shot

Haven’t even watched the video yet but is it true STEPH PLAYED 3 MINS IN THE THIRD...ITS OFFICIAL WE TANKING FOR ZION MAN WTF

Addressing this whole KD thing: let's not forget this dude lost an adopted friend and that's around the time when he started getting passive as hell. Contrary to what people are saying, there's a difference between playing within the offense and not looking to shoot every time he gets the ball in the post. There's definitely something weird about his mentality on both ends of the floor right now. Compare it to 2017 finals Durant when he was truly playing the right way on both ends of the floor. He actually shot 3s and provided aggressive rim protection back then. Beverly has been molesting KD hard, it doesn't really help his pedo image. But Steph has dealt with that the last 4 seasons and had no problem. KD needs to move more off the ball in these scenarios and collapse the defense with drives, looking for guys like Looney waiting for the ball in the paint or kicking it out to a shooter. It's just too passive right now.

Paradox

I have no words to say....blew my mind.

We should’ve picked up Gortat

Fuq yu

Only good thing about this game was hearing the uncle go nuclear... Balmer’s kid is a moron, Beverly’s mom is a drunk ... Clippers dozens ftw.

percussion boy

This entire Clippers team should try out for the Rockets because they're like mini Harden/ CP3s in terms of drawing the shittiest fouls. Someone tell Klay that 33% from 3 is 50% from 2. This dude has been trading contested 3s for contested off balance midranges. It's despicable. I already gave up on Durant, that dude isn't going to shoot his 3s if he can help it. This team is shooting 6/17 and 6/18 from 3s without Curry against the Clippers, that's horrific considering the volume and the amount of shooting talent on this team. It's actually the bench that has been carrying a lot of the shooting load this season. Losing his adopted friend is maybe the reason why KD is so passive on shooting, passing, and defense the last few weeks. He kinda gets a pass. But Draymond man. I like his aggression on offense but the dude has an emotional temperament of a 7 year old, staring down Kerr after he gets benched late in the 3rd and Curry turns over the ball. He needs to know his place.

Paradox

We were up 30 points so I started watching a show on a different channel. When I flipped back all hell had broken loose. I think we can bounce back, but now we have to win two games on their home court. Warriors in 5. Get well Boogie!

Strong Foru

I've never been so mad watching the Warriors....closest one would be game 7 of 2016 finals. First, KD and his irresponsible turnovers and half-ass passes. You can't blame the Thunder fans hating on this guy. "THE MOST SENSITIVE SUPERSTAR ATHLETE." I now know why he's being called a snake and a cupcake. I want KD and his garbage friend, Cook gone!!!!! Pay Looney his dues and sign another big star. Did you notice Cook was in no man's land AGAIN when Curry was forced turn the ball over in 4th when Cook was hogging up corner space in front of Klay. I was thinking why can't we use garbage players like Cook put annoying players like Beverly in foul trouble or foul them hard. I'm not worried about this series, but we're in some deep shit when we face the Rockets and possibly Bucks down the line. Our team seems and feels different this year. Blowing out leads and being blown out by inferior teams time and time again. This is also on Kerr's inept coaching as well. He's starting to annoy me with his dumb rotations and passive post game interviews.

Walter Kim

When you said that pat bevs mom drank until she was full term I laughed out so loud, I damn near woke my whole family up😂😂😂😂😂

I hate how Draymond clogs the paint and brings his defender whenever KD is on a post up, clear out and stay on the wing. He's too focused on going for the rebound.

Loon looks like he is ready to really secure a bag.

Athletic Alchemy

He's trying to play point too much. If he'd been working on that all season and wanted to translate that to this offseason I'd have no problem. But dude, you started trying to be a point guard in the last 10 games and want to experiment during the playoffs too?? Nah...

Ciara Dean

Awesome breakdown as always. I was so fired up at the end of this game , took me like 30 minutes to calm down. What will be interesting to see is how the boogie injury affects the team. All the analytics say we are better without him ever on the floor but there are games he is a beast and I eye test conflicts with the analytics. They better come out with some fire on Thursday.

Matt Hanna

Come on now! You cant sit back and objectively say KD doing what he suppose too.

Athletic Alchemy

Durant shot the ball 8x like a bench player smh

Gerrard Israel Laraga

Bob doesn't have much room to work with, but I am worried about Kerr and his rotations.

Athletic Alchemy

dang!

Athletic Alchemy

This was not an easy breakdown to do! I am still a fan at heart!

Athletic Alchemy

devistaing man!

Athletic Alchemy

KD was bad, but there is plenty of blame to go around

Athletic Alchemy

Good now

I swear u warriors fans are the biggest fucking hypocrites. First u want durant to take a back seat to Steph then take a 6th man role remember. Now u bitch when he does what u mfs been complaining about all year. Makes sense

Reginald Banks

Can u watch this yet? Spinning on me

Boogie was doing too much his last injury from duving recklessly on the floor and the same thing happen to him this time. Torn quads take 6 weeks so he'll be fine thank heavens. Still this is a bad omen and I'm sure a couple teams jumpong for joy. Kerr fucked us this game with his stupid lineups and rotations took steph out when he was hot to put in trash ass quinn cook. This bench is trash and bob meyers sat on his hands all season after seeing that they were trash. I don't trust them nor our coach to get us to the goal.

I have so much to say about this game. But I’ll keep it short and sweet. Losing Cousins is huge for the warriors and may put the entire 3peat in jeopardy. Hoping Bogut can be ready for the playoff intensity coming his way. Next......fucking Kevin Durant. He needs to get the FUCK out of his feelings. How he lets Beverley bother him so much makes no sense to me. You’re a whole foot taller than him, and he doesn’t go hard at him, shooting or driving over him. He easily could’ve had Beverley foul out in the 3rd quarter, but he decided to be passive and cowardly. Durant and the bench lost the warriors this game. The turning point was Stephs 4th foul with 9:38 in the 3rd. The game was over at a 30pt lead. Then Steph goes out....and the entire team scuffled to a halt. If Kevin Durant continues to be passive, the warriors WILL LOSE THIS SERIES. especially now that Cousins is out. Steph can drop 50 every game for the rest of the series’s, but if Lou, Harrell, and Beverley keep doing what they do, the warriors are done man. KD has been pissing me off so much this series. Tough luck for Cousins man. Really wanted to see him shine in the later rounds of the playoffs.

Jansen E

I fell asleep when we were up 30, woke up to all kinds of shit news...

carlosd93

I know Alchemy came with ALL the smoke for this one! 😦🔥

Brandon Kelso

Boogie can't catch a freaking break. Watched his documentary on showtime yesterday morning and I was so fired up about him performing in the playoffs. Maybe this means we can give him a 20% raise and keep him for another year

Edward Zeng

Been waiting for this since morning..lol
