Hey Alch! Just wanna make sure you saw a story by Drew Shiller that said on the eve of game 6, Steph had booked the Toyota centre for an hour shootaround. Chris Paul found out about this and kicked him off. Apparently Steph was yelling ‘kick me off the court again boy’ after the game while celebrating!!! Didn’t need another reason to hate CP but he’s somehow done it again! https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/sports/csn/warriors/Chris_Paul_kicked_Steph_Curry_off_court_night_before_Game_6_showdown_BAY-509791472.html?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app

When KD grabbed his leg, like you, I thought we were beyond done. Seeing Steph put his big boy pants on and get aggressive and decisive was a breath of fresh air. There is only so much spotlight, and with KD taking some of it, people forget how good Steph can be when is forced the be in the spotlight alone. That's not me saying we are better without KD. I am not an idiot. Even players like Steph, when they have an all time great scorer of KD's caliber, you second guess you own shots because you think he can get a better one.
I would love to see someone just absolutely slug CP. I am talking put him flat of his back. And I found it funny and telling when he was one the floor after the Draymond tech, no one really wanted to help him up. To me, that just says that the dude doesn't have any friends. They just tolerate him.
Also shout out to JJ. He has been making big shots in his spot minutes, and he comes in ready to ball. No warm up needed, just revved up, ready to contribute.

Watch Bballbreakdown's latest video on the warriors, the numbers don't lie. Klay and Steph both do better offensively when KD is off the court. All three of them are scoring gods but three's a crowd. KD isn't good enough at playing within the motion offense to work with them, his natural style is iso because it works for him.

Your take on the CP's antics couldn't be more spot on. I don't think there is another player in the league on his level of petty flops and attempts on getting calls to go his way. If we made video clips of CP attempting to flop or just doing dirty plays, how many would we accumulate in this series alone? ALSO, I would give you money to dropkick that guy! I apologize how this really isn't a question or comment of schemes, but that CP is something else!

I officially believe Steph is a closer and Harden shrinks when it’s time to put up or shut up. Did anyone see him in that last possession not even try to get the ball to take a shot but instead he goes to the corner and gives up.

You say it all the time, styles make fights. This is gonna be interesting. HOU is wearing down, you can see it. Harden is wearing down. Without KD, GSW is gonna play faster. More movement. The ball will be in Curry's and Draymond's hands all game. HOU's defense is not as well suited for this. Also, Tucker is very uniquely built to matchup on KD. If KD isn't playing, Tucker's effectiveness in their defense, in turn, goes down. The flip side is, GSW is gonna need bench guys to step up. Bogut, Cook, and Jerebko will most likely all have to play minutes.
2019-05-10 00:57:45 +0000 UTC
Great breakdown. It seems like a lot of people share your opinion that Curry started playing better after KD went down bc his mindset changed and he "got out of his head". I disagree. I don't think his play was a mental thing. We're talking about the greatest shooter to ever step foot in an NBA arena, a multiple time champion, and one of the mentally toughest dudes in the league. What it looked like to me was a team that went back to playing the way it was built, before KD got here. A team that won the championship and won 73 games. What It looked like to me was the muscle memory of champs. I say it all the time. We all know by now what unlocks Curry. We all know what he loves doing the most and how he likes playing the most out there on the court.

Houston Thesbians - Great idea to switch to Vimeo, love the new sharpness. This series gets even more interesting now that our backs are against the wall and we are now the underdog, for game 6 anyway. Love the rubber band theory, have watched that forever. If you step away from the games themselves it makes total sense, this is an entertainment business, the games get boring when they are blowouts, hardcores like us always watch, but they lose the common fan. Dray, when CP grabs your arm get out of it, never trust that that Bitch isn't going to go for an arm bar flop foul on you, he does it every time, if you are as smart as you think you are why do you keep letting CP bait you like a child. He's playing you.. Lastly I so agree the Hoop Gods can't let this team take down the dynasty, not the Houston Thespians.

As it stands, I'm terrified of our depth. We were already trying to figure out who is even playable but IF we get through this series (big if) its nice to know we can play Bogut against any team going forward in the playoffs and finals. We're gonna be playing Shaun more this series so I hope he can step up. And idk if Kerr will even think about playing Quinn but I saw Quinn out there by himself after the game getting up shots so props to him

Serious question y’all. In hindsight which would you prefer. Blowing a 3-1 lead in our 73 win season, getting KD as a consolation prices and winning the next 2 or Win game 7 of our 73 win season, no KD. We don’t win the next 2....me I chose the 1st.....I say that to say, which would you chose now? Hypothetically speaking which would you chose, 1) splash bros get it done we beat HOU then We get swept in the WCF, the narrative changes, everyone agrees KD is needed, he resigns 5 years 221M Steph Locked up, Klay resigns. We are in the mix and win a few more chips. Or 2) We win this year, KD leaves, we aren’t as good as a result and win less games / chips then we would with KD...which option would y’all chose 1 or 2?

Sure, without KD we go back to a more motion offense and Curry gets a lot more touches (and he really needs it to heat up), but the elephant in the room is that KD was averaging 35ppg and, like, 43 minutes per game. There's no one person who can replace those points, so EVERYONE will have to do more. That's a big big ask. No one on this team is as efficient as KD, so to get those points, we're going to have to take a lot more shots ... and need more possessions to do so. Rebounding will be absolutely critical. As will a lack of turnovers.
Furthermore, KD's 43 minutes have to come off the bench because our starters can't play any more. How will Kerr divide it up? That's a big chunk that Shaun can't cover. Jerebko? McKinnie? Whomever we put on the floor will be a worse defender and a non-shot maker.
KD's absence is a killer because we don't have any real depth. All we can do in muck up Game 6 in the paint. Make it a fucking fight. Hard fouls. Hard screens. Elbowing for loose balls. Beat these guys up. Make them over-exert themselves to win game 6 ... and then beat their tired asses at home in Game 7.

Warriors are going to need more minutes from Looney but frankly, enough with McKinney, Jonas needs to get Zo's minutes and more (he's a vet, he boxes out, he rebounds on the offensive end, he has fresh legs, he plays hard, he's physical, he can shoot the 3 and has had a few significant contribution games this year).

KD is not ISO-heavy, he's the escape value. When all else breaks down you can give it to him and he can go get you a bucket, i.e. a quality high % shot. Something no one else on our roster can consistently do. When SC30 gets to cooking the outcome is a difficult shot he often makes look stefordless...a testmont to SC30 greatness....however when you are at war you don't want to have rely on someone being great, but someone simply going to work and doing what they do. Kd getting to a mid range spot pulling up in a manor you can't contest is KD being normal. Just look at @4:35 as Alch breaks down the obvious. We are running our movement offense however the playoff intensity results in Steph bailing on the movement and clearing out. That's not on KD, as there is nothing about KD's game that is being left behind by the league. There is not an offence in the League KD can't get buckets in and be a Net positive. After watching KD put up 46 and SC30 put forth an F+ effort when a D+ effort would have gotten us a sweep as they would have folded down 3-0, for the 1st time in this run I see KD leaving as comments like yours are an exasperation of a toxic narrative.
2019-05-09 22:03:36 +0000 UTC

My thoughts exactly!!!
2019-05-09 21:56:49 +0000 UTC
Obviously some have pointed out the parallels with this series last year in that the team with homecourt advantage loses their star in game 5. What we saw with the Rockets last year, even though they lost, was how they came into each game playing like they had nothing to lose. That's why they gained those 15+ point leads in each first half. You could say that that mentally might be an advantage for the Warriors. Some of the points leaving with KD could somewhat reappear with Steph if he has more confidence, gains more rhythm, and understands he's the main scoring option. If there is a downfall this series, I believe it will be the lack of playable guys off the bench rather than Klay & Steph underperforming.

Being the underdog for the rest of this series generates more excitement than stress. I'm honestly more hyped for Game 6 than I have been for a long time, cause now we've got nothing to lose. Steph and Klay know they need to show up in a big way to give us any chance, and like you said, feeling needed is a good thing when you're as talented as they are. They also know all the pressure is on Harden and CP3 to close out against a team missing 2/5 starters with no bench depth. Combine that with Houston's lack of home-court advantage and I'm actually foolishly confident heading into tomorrow. If Harden and Gordon both show up in a huge way, then we're going to Game 7. But if we can keep the defense up while avoiding foul trouble, limit the turnovers, and get some threes from Dray/Iggy/McKinnie/Jerebko, then I think we can close this thing out.

7:19 Come on Alchemy that's not a struggle possession, that's a clear foul. No one can make a layup like that when they're being pushed from behind. That's an easy call if it were Harden or Durant making that layup. The finger injury is just icing on the cake, dude faces double standards on offense and defense so this is where Steph needs to be more ball dominant and focus on PnR action in game 6.
Kerr needs to bring out Bell. He was great in the last post season against the Rockets, he's far more disciplined than he was a year ago.
Also shoutout to Looney. Good chance we would have lost the game without him. And Klay looks like he only missed shots that were off balance, he honestly could have shot even better than he did. We're gonna need to see that Game 6 Klay.

I think in the long run, this Golden State team plays more freely and together without Durant, who is undeniably a transcendent talent but also an iso-heavy, mid-range scorer (two qualities that the league is rapidly moving away from). My biggest concern this playoff run is our lack of depth - something that used to be one of our greatest strengths in 2015-2016. I am however, excited to see what Steph, Klay, and Draymond can do without KD if given a proper second unit (and no injuries).
