Do you think Draymond is waiting for Klay to draw out CJ and for Iggy to draw out his guy into a spot that helps Draymond decide whether he’ll slip or screen?

Remaining dynamic while still being on the same page. Understanding what you have been doing, and how the defense has been reacting. Draymond has been masterful in changing it up. But it only works if Steph is on the same page.

I said it before the series, GSW can't afford to mess around bc MIL is gonna take care of TOR quick. But it looks like Kerr keeps messing around. We used Curry/Draymond 4 times in a row to close this games and it led to 4 easy baskets. But how many times did you see Curry/Draymond PnR in the 1st half? We used it more in the finals few minutes than we did in the entire 1st half. And it's just playing with fire to use the 2nd unit he did in a WCF game. Also, it's not like we came up with anything brilliant by blitzing Lillard/Mccollum. We should've been doing it all series. The Pels, a bad defensive team, swept POR last year by using Holiday/Rondo/AD/etc to blitz and trap Lillard/Mccollum on every play. And that was with Nurkic healthy. So clearly, this is the way to defend POR and we should continue doing it. What really flipped the game the most was starting Looney in the 2nd half. This is what allowed us to best utilize the blitzing and trapping strategy.

Yo Alch, I believe the last defensive play was with no fouls to give making it that much more special and ballsy.

Smeagol ... that's just evil. I call him mini-Vin Diesel. Some comments on YouTube were calling for GSW to poach him is that a possibility? I stopped watching at the half and came back to the TV after missing most of the 3rd and saw they were only down 3 and was like WTF? Already? Dayum this team. We have the Splash Brothers, and the Stop Brothers. Iggy best hands in the business, I'll say it a hundred times. EDIT: also is it just me, or does Portland look like it really lacks chemistry? I'm kind of surprised by how little they seem to hype each other up or high five over good plays and stuff. GSW looks way closer knit of a group.

2019-05-17 23:16:02 +0000 UTC
Alch, do you think Kerr's been saving up the Curry-Draymond high pick-and-roll for the kill during crunch time in the 4th quarters? From HOU Gm6, POR Gm1/2, it's been so obvious that they were sticking to this set offensively, and it's been money... I'm surprised that our opponents looked so unprepared to defend it...
2019-05-17 23:13:55 +0000 UTC
Not only quite possibly Drey's best game of his career, as you say, but isn't this -- the last 6 games or so -- his overall best playoff performance ever, driving to the basket -- time after time, at last! -- just as you have been saying, time after time, that he should? (My heart was pounding the entire last quarter, and by the end of the game I was exhausted!) The Steph-Seth game-within-the-game makes this series a sheer delight. and is the main reason I was hoping Portland would make it this far.

Did Blazers punt in game 1? YES! 100%. And they used a defensive scheme that was not energy intensive. One of the best ways to steal a game from the Dubs is to lull them to sleep. It almost worked for game 2 and IMO it was a brilliant move. I think it will be harder for the Blazers now.
2019-05-17 21:32:40 +0000 UTC
Man I love KD and I’m grateful as hell for his contributions and commitment to this team over the last 3 years, but fuck is it so refreshing to see this team play without him. There’s just so much familiarity and fluidity in the game, not even in the sense that the offense moves more, but rather that these guys seem to communicate telepathically. Like you said, the calmness with which that last PnR was executed is just indicative of how intuitive it is for these guys to play with each other. I know that KD fits in the system and has made adjustments—and has become a better player because of it—but I fuckin miss these Warriors so much. I still hope he comes back next year tho.

Nothing makes me happier than watching great defensive plays. Watching the Warriors the second half reminded me of watching the Sdsu full court press defense a couple years ago where they would run the 1-2-1-1 defense you mentioned(because they had a hard time scoring lol) always trapping the ball handler making it an absolute battle to just get the ball past mid court.

2019-05-17 21:23:29 +0000 UTC
Absolutely. There's a reason why his net rating is consistently at the top with Curry on this team. If he could regain his 2016 early season shooting form, he'd be the perfect swiss knife.
Paradox
2019-05-17 21:13:16 +0000 UTC
They don't. Even Rockets with their switchability got PnR scored on 8/10 times we used it, with one being a missed lob and the other being fairly questionable no call. Same thing happened in game 1 and 2, every time we ran PnR we were extremely likely to score. Imagine if Kerr didn't mess around and actually ran these in the regular season we wouldn't be facing Bucks on their home court. Well assuming we win of course but I'm absolutely confident we do unless Curry or Draymond gets injured.

The production value continues to go up! Andre running down the hall screaming "These Motherfuckers are crazy!" cut to "3 hours earlier" .... loved it!
That Curry-Green P&R is the finishing move that is just unstoppable. It cannot be contained! We often talked about how we wanted a Curry-Durant P&R to close but this ... this is SO MUCH MORE UNSTOPPABLE.

Draymond for series...hell....playoffs MVP. And Dre has been playing like Finals MVP. Day-Day has also really kept a lid on his outbursts this series while maintaining a higher level of defensive focus AND being the most offensively active I can remember seeing. OREB beast Looney has for sure earned a bag...but I think Draymond deserves a dump truck full of gold. I'd rather lose KD than Draymond.
11:57 in the video...Jerebko's flop attempt on Dame is so melodramatic it's comical. I would LOVE to see Jerebko and Collins get into it. It seems like Rebko would play better the angrier he gets.

Considering Blazers shot 47% from 3 on high volume, I don't think we stole that game like Kerr said, we were the ones that outplayed them. Always going back to Curry-Dray PnR seems to yield nice results... I think there is a very good chance we sweep them 4-0 based on these first two games. Just worried about refs.
Also KD's injury might even be grade 2, meaning there is a high chance we don't get KD against the Bucks which would be very bad.
