Thing is...almost all these guys travel on the catch every time. Especially bigger wings like Kawhi, PG, LBJ. Kawhi looks like he is traveling a lot of the time when he drives but really he just has a weird delay in his 1-2 step, I think it also has to do with how well he finishes thru contact. Ultimately what's the point of complaining about a call that is never called.

2019-06-12 23:23:49 +0000 UTC
Klay, Curry, Cousins, Andre, and Green stepped up when we needed them the most. Andre needs to be productive offensively and Green like Alech mentioned must keep drill 2-3 corner shots and we will 3 peat.
At this point we could’ve used Gortat in place of Looney. Why tf is Lee, Derickson, Evans on the roster if they ain’t even contributing. Bell is a one trick pony and maybe he would be better on a team with less shooters.

Man, Alch, I couldn't get myself to watch this recap until today. I was still feeling bad the next day. It didn't feel like a win on Monday, it felt like a human sacrifice to buy us just one more game.
I went to the Oracle Watch Party and wasn't into it at all. Every commercial break they tried to make it a dance party or a typical "good time out" ... but that wasn't what was on TV. What was on TV was our team facing elimination. Death of a season waiting outside the door. Praying for miracles, hoping he would leave us alive just one last night.
I don't know how we survive Thursday. All I know is that we might. And then. Maybe. We survive one last fucking time.

IMO, the fact that it took last nights game for you, and in my opinion 51% of DubNation to solidify his commitment, in your mind, is why he was willing to leave 57m’s on the table just to go to a fan base where he is beloved, as we take dude so for granted, we let the mainstream media push KD is an unnecessary luxury narrative, with no real push back, he knew coming here would result in external hate but I don’t think he anticipated 51% of DubNation would be on some he’s not needed type stuff. Hopefully he resigns 5 years 221m’s and we keep this same energy and quit taking dude for granted

This was emotional for me too. You're right – KD's injury is a tragedy for *basketball* not just for him and the Warriors. Casual fans don't get that. When a genius is cut down in his prime, we all lose.

It was a tough night Alch. You saw everything I saw from Iggy and Shaun. If there's one benefit from all of this, KD managed to get the entire league to put respect on his name once and for all. Wherever he goes and wherever he ends up, I won't forget what he sacrificed just to get this team one more win. Ultimately it was his body and his decision to play, so I won't play the blame game like the talking heads will. I don't want to sound like a Nostradamus though but KD's slender frame always made me feel like he'd end this way eventually, it was always in the back of my mind since seeing him play. I'm going to be totally honest I don't see us winning this one, but even if we don't I'm at peace with it. We saw the death lineup one last time and put the fear of the Slim Reaper back in Toronto - for a moment they saw a glimpse of what would have happened if we'd been 100% from the beginning, and it showed in their relief when he went down. That's good enough for me.

I really didn't like that Iguodala hesitation. Dude needs to step up and hit that. So does Draymond. If you shoot 1/3 from 3, that's still 50% from 2 which isn't horrible so take it. Livingston needs to be taken out for a shooter, most likely McKinnie.

Alch the true goat! lol. But yeah.. I don't even know what to comment right now. I'm still damaged from last night's game. Media throwing fire on Warriors staff for forcing him to play? Um.... how about checking the mirror and asking yourselves why he might have wanted to play even when injured? Perhaps it's because some of these same people have been spreading narratives about KD's character and that he's leaving and everything else. Maybe he wanted once and for all to prove them wrong? Well then congrats! You've successfully destroyed a man's achilles and a year of his career.. and potentially altering the rest of his career as well. I'm legit pissed off right now and I don't know what to do.

I just want to say that as a Toronto fan, I’m glad we didn’t win yesterday. The knuckleheads that jeered KD as he was being carried off from his injury put a dark stain on the night.
So I'll take the opposing view on the Durant thing, probably not popular but I'm keeping it a buck. I don't think we learned much of anything yesterday, the sea of mystery surrounding KD all year just got a few leagues deeper. I was very surprised how good he looked warming up and then in the first quarter, better than what really all the other guys who have gotten hurt this postseason have looked when they first returned - no sign of a limp, no sign of favoring, he didn't even seem to get that tired out there. And then it happened, and I can't say I was surprised - I've been holding my breath in these playoffs as the body count has mounted, just waiting for one of more of the weakened legs to give again, and of course it happened.
But his coming back with the Dubs down 3-1 doesn't say anything, that was one of the speculated scenarios, and how good he looked just made it a little more suspicious. It seemed he had nothing to lose and everything to gain, either saving them from almost inevitable defeat or unable to do so because the hole they’d dug was just too deep. Turned out he did have something to lose, and that makes me wonder even more about his injury, what it really was. IT said yesterday he’d had a slight tear in his Achilles and the doctors told him you can either choose not to play but it won’t ever heal, or you can play and run the risk that eventually it’ll fully tear; I don’t know if medicine has evolved beyond that now. But the bottom line is we’ll never really know what the situation actually was.
The Meyers tear-jerker was no doubt in part to get out in front of the inevitable blame-game, which was in full attack mode from the beginning today. It’s very hard for me to believe in this process that KD didn’t have his own doctors look at the thing over the last month, given his contract situation, so the story that he got scammed by the Warrior doctors seems like complete bullshit. KD certainly had to have been running some known risk, unless the situation wasn’t at all as vaguely described.
And now perhaps the Warriors really pay. Maybe they offer him the full boat, in part out of feelings of guilt and responsibility, but that’s a huge risk. Maybe it doesn’t matter, if other teams start telling his agent that this changes nothing. And maybe he just decides to put it off for a year, exercises his $31.5M option with the Warriors, has them rehab him to health, and then bails a year from now, quite possibly having already played his last game here. This is exactly why guys like him with that kind of leverage include the option year on these one-year deals, in case of injury or something else that damages their value, a kind of insurance policy, and an incredibly expensive one for the Dubs. The one small advantage to GSW is that they can trade him during that year, and I suppose there’s some possibility that another team will risk some assets to get him in and size up their operation. On one hand, rehabilitating him all year might make him feel some obligation to stick around; on the other, if he blames the Warriors at all for this, he’s surely gone, sooner or later.
So this will go one for another three weeks, and then we’ll see if he exercises that option, and if he doesn’t, then we’ll see what he chooses to do. So nothing has really changed, it’s just gotten even more bizarre.
2019-06-12 00:31:43 +0000 UTC
God and Durant was killing it before he went down. I cant even watch the replays of it had to turn away again as you were discussing it. It didnt even feel like reality in the moment. I couldn’t be more proud with our win tonight despite a couple issues throughout and at the end. Bringing this back to Oracle for the true last ride...we showed our championship spirit and the league recognized it fully.
Also i cant believe how quickly that went from “damn, we are gonna lose” to “HOT DAMN SON, LETS GO!”. The mike Breen commentary for klay’s 3? “One fake, one dribble, one shot, GOT IT!”?? HYPE.
Let’s get it at Oracle, dub nation. Then off to game 7 and embrace the results, knowing, no matter what, we go out SWINGIN’.

Man alch this game was a fucking roller coaster of emotions. I stood up for the last quarter in a weird squat position cause I didn't know what to do with my body, my brother fell asleep on the couch next to me so I had to celebrate in silence, I was throwing air punches and jumping up and down every time we made a shot. Onto the game: first of all I need to say that Klay is a beast like the dude is an ELITE hof type player and I don't think he gets enough recognition, he was hitting the toughest shots and if you noticed he locked down kawhi in the end of the 4th when draymond couldnt. Steph was amazing (except of his usual lazy passes) and boogie too was great. Other than them our team is really fucking struggling, iggy just seems so out of it, s.dot is fucking washed and he has to go after this season. bell played badly and draymond had a lot of lacking overall play and energy. I think we can take game 6 but like you stated I really think the Raptors are a better team than us. Their defense is amazing, they completely outclass us in rebounding and athleticism and their passing is way better. I believe in our boys but this is going to be a VERY hard series to win.

Well well well how the turn tables......Looks like your game 5 breakdown wont be your last one of the season after all. That being said.....I dont know how I feel about the win. Im glad the season isnt over and Im glad I didnt have to watch Drake get down on his knees and suck Lowrys dick had he hit that final shot. But man. Now what I said in my last comment is my biggest fear. Having to watch Toronto celebrate in Oracle. I cant watch that. I dont even want to think about that. Patrick McCaw....Kyle Lowry's bitchass, and that fruity fuck Drake celebrating on the final game ever at Oracle???? Hell naw. That cannot happen.
Anyway. Regarding the game. Geezus christ. They really did try to lose it their at the end. The god awful turnover and decision making from Steph and Draymond on that backcourt violation. And then the unnecessary moving screen from Boogie. They are LUCKY that Klay thompson and Iguodala are HOF level defenders with even higher IQ. Draymond also with a masterful IQ play to toplock Gasol on the screen, knowing they wouldnt feed it to him down low, and they were looking for the 3 in the corner. Everyone is gonna talk about Klays huge 3s, and Stephs huge 3. But I'll tell you one thing people may not talk about that won them this game. 3 words.....Steph. Curry's. REBOUNDING. He had 3-4 rebounds in the final 6 minutes of the 4th quarter. All huge possessions. I mean the Warriors were and havebeen getting killed on the glass every single game. Curry had huge rebounds to not let them get second and third possessions like they were getting in quarters 1-3.
All that aside. I dont think Ive been this nervous since the game 7 against the Rockets in 2017. And Im way more nervous than that. No KD. No Looney. And Boogie just being totally unpredictable of whether he's gonna be helpful or a giant liability. I mean, I am willing to bet any Warriors fan $500 that they cant look me dead in the eye and say without hesitation or doubt, whether or not the Warriors are better with Boogie on the court. Because its a literal coin flip. Sometimes hes great and very important with clutch rebounding and getting bucks. And then the next 5 possessions, its like he's got cinderblock feet and cant hit free throws. We never know what Boogie we're gonna see. And back to Kevon Looney for a second. I fully rescind everything bad Ive ever said about that man to start his career. He progressed so damn slow, and he mightve deserved it. But goddamn, hes got the heart of a lion and he's been playing out of his mind in these playoffs. I seriously hope he can go in game 6 cuz they are at a HUGE loss without him.
We have never needed Game 6 Klay more. And we need MVP Curry, as well DPOY and all-star IQ-level Draymond. I dont care if a referee bitch slaps Draymond's wife in the stands. He cannot complain about ANY call no matter how much I might agree they are looking to spotlight him on ticky tack bullshit. If the Warriors want any chance....Draymond cannot pick up another technical foul. Theres just so much riding on this game 6. Im frankly too flustered.
I need one more vid from you Alch. I need that game 7 breakdown..........and going all the way back to what I said. I dont want to see a celebration at Oracle. Lets go Warriors. Cmon Alch. It gives me literal pain to start believing again after how bad game 4 was. But goddamn the Warriors are champions and they refuse to give up. I cannot explain to you how bad a game 6 loss would be. LETS GO ALCH. WE GOT THIS.

The goal tending call is easy. Really. It's math. There is only one angle that matters and that angle is a right angle to the direction of the ball. From that angle, the ball bounced off the rim and was outside the rim and was traveling AWAY from the rim. That is conclusive proof, from math, that it was not goal tending. Dude, my son and I were going apeshit about the those ... ah, hem, .. in the replay booth, where ever the f it is, NJ or some shit.

On Looney's injury, my son had a chest injury to the interstitials , which isn't really the same as Loon's problem but it's kinda similar to it. He was told he could go back to his sport (crew) and he said it was hard finding that place between too much or not enough effort, because of the pain, and walking that line between pain and further injury.
On KD's injury, what's interesting to me is that he had a calf problem, but they were icing, after he went out the first time, near his achilles! They didn't have the ice bag on his calf, and I'm like dude, maybe those conspiracy theorists were right. I agree with you, no matter what decision they made on KD or he made for himself, there were going to be X% of the population being critical of it.

Been following your stuff for a long while, man (like a couple years back on Youtube). Your breakdown is one of the very few that goes into the subtler inner aspects of the game (effort, energy, focus, etc.). And that helps me as a fan to connect with the person behind the player and humanize the whole experience.
Seeing the crowd's reaction to KD's injury showed how easy it is to lose track of that humanity. My immediate response to that was not anger but sadness. A player at that level of greatness and an overall amazing human being deserved neither that injury nor that reaction. We always need to maintain that human awareness, and it starts at the individual level.
Thank you for keeping it real and keeping us as fans thinking about the minds and hearts of these amazing people that we root for every day.

Whew, what a ride! And this, your commentary on the game, absolutely right on. Love your attention to detail, and the way you combine passion with edifying wisdom. Draymond and Iggy have been inconsistent on offense, Livingston has been non existent. His game in the past was a 90% hit rate on guys under 6'5 from 6 feet away. Or a quick pull up. Now we have him for reliable ball handling but he lazed two passes out of bounds last night. He is a huge part of the 3 ring Dub squad but they need to just give the minutes to Cook and McKinnie.

Emotional roller coaster of a game!
Gotta start off by giving KD his respect. I fed into the media and questioned his commitment to the team. He’s a warrior at heart, he’s committed, and he sacrificed his body, and prime for 12 minutes for his team. If they win this, it’ll add to his GOAT status. Praying for a full recovery, however long it takes. There’s still some years of prime left for KD.
Now to the game: Boneheaded plays and questionable subs almost ruined it but they got it done somehow. Game 6 and potentially 7 will be played for KD. I believe we’ll see some urgency. The others have to find 1 aspect of the game and just be great at that. Whether it’s rebounding, shooting, or defense, just be great in 1 area and out will Toronto. Steph and Klay just gotta keep letting it fly! Draymond will play smarter and I think the best of Boogie will be showcased next game. I’m too pumped to think and analyze properly lol but I believe GS will fins a way to win the last warriors game at oracle EVER. They have too much pride to lose.
1 thing I will point out, is if you watch carefully, there’s at least 2 possessions where Klay forced Kawhi into the middle of the floor, picked up his dribble and just wasn’t as decisive. He’s already a shaky ball handler but he definitely does not trust his left hand at all. I’ve been waiting on that all series. Klay and Andre shouldn’t guard him face up, he’ll go right every time.
Last thing, I found it comical and scary (I must admit) when Lowry had the last shot to win the series. There was a slight chance it actually went in, I was ready to accept the fact that Lowry would seal the deal in the biggest shot attempt of his career, but he’s the eastern conference CP3 for a reason... can’t deliver when you need it the most.
1 possession at a time, 1 game at a time. Let’s go DUBS!

If nobody else wants to say it, I'm here in Canada and I will, Toronto Fans....bush league response. The camera actually pans the crowd with a fan waving bye bye to Durant as if he fouled out. Major league player response....minor league fans.

Is there anything more infuriating than listening to Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson make the same stupid comments every other minute? Watching Kawhi draw fouls is annoying already but I damn near have to mute the broadcast when Van Gundy starts pointing out that fouls are "unacceptable". Fucks sake

I can’t even lie...when KD went down everything stopped for me. All my adrenaline, excitement and joy was instantly drained when I saw him reaching for his Achilles. I shead a few tears after the game when they kept replaying him going down. He just looked so helpless and confused. And to hear those fans cheering for that just makes me want vengeance. I was so excited for him to come back. I even put on my KD “Y’all Know Who I Am” shirt to celebrate. He’s not even my favorite player but as someone who genuinely loves to watch and play this game I was just so happy that he could finally come back to the game he loves. I’m only 18 so I haven’t witnessed that many major injuries to this point. Worst one was probably Hayward breaking his leg but this one just felt different. I didn’t like KD at first but this year after watching a lot of his interviews and podcast appearances I realized he’s just a misunderstood dude. A real one though. And when all these media people were questioning if he really wanted to play this past week I was so irritated. If he could have played sooner he would have. Now we have all these media people questioning the organization and medical staff but it’s just hard to believe the same people that forced Klay to miss his first postseason game ever would let KD go out there legitimately believing he was at a high risk for something like that. Medicine isn’t an exact science and I guess some people don’t realize that. But now everybody is a damn internet doctor. FOH. We have to do this for KD💯 Even if we don’t win..just lay it all out there. We won’t see this man for another year and it sucks..

for the first in a long time i feel like our boys are winning through pure heart and will l over talent its a joy to watch.. livingston should be off the floor in my opinion and although andre should shoot when open, i think his threes from the top of the key and near it are just way too off to call it a good shot.. also i dont think this is highlighted throughout the series but the one thing steph seems to be doing well consistently throughout these series is using his handles to blow by defenders one-on-one, even kawhi cant seem to stay in front of him, i just feel like a mismatch iso with curry just gets you a lesser-effert, higher-percentage shot than the usual routine off ball action..of course should be a healthy mixture of the two but ive seen too many draymond-orchestrating kerr-style possesions end in a dray or iggy three to be fully satisfied

Draymond at 6 technical fouls, he needs to watch the fuck out. An intelligent guy with the emotial temperament of a baby.
I hate watching Livingston play with a passion. I understand he has length but he still can't guard anybody or space the floor.
Heart goes out to KD. I hope he signs with us. Without his efficient buffer in the first quarter we lose this game.
Don't feel good seeing team playing at Oracle ever. I will pray for the Raptors' choke.

Alc, this one was tough. Its a ball game at the end of the day but between meyer, steph, boogie, KD himself, the win itself. Rough. Great analysis as always from you...

Such a sad moment for KD and this warriors run for him to go down like that. Hoping for a speedy recovery. It was so hard to watch the ending of this game cause we dont have the guys that we need to win these games... i want to believe and i know steph/klay/dray are gonna give them a run but... the raptors just have a complete team... Oracle will be rocking thursday and im hoping we get the win there even if we lose the series at Toronto... Good shit alch, as always...

After this last game, I as a Golden State fan can no longer question Kevin Durant's commitment to this basketball team. Despite how divisive and how eye-brow raising his free agency reports and social media jabs this past year may have been, yesterday made everything clear. This man was clearly a shell of himself physically, yet comes in and hits some of the biggest shots I've ever seen from the opening tip. Unfortunately, I don't think it was ever a question of if he would go down, but when. When it's all said and done, he sacrificed close to a year of his career for 12 minutes of basketball when our team needed him most. Ultimate Respect to Slim.

I thought the Jurassic park crowd was actually worse they first went quiet and after it was clear it’s a serious injury they burst out in cheers

Sure about bandwagoners, but I think it’s just the fact that KD was cooking us, he goes down, raps fans think our chance of winning suddenly spikes, and people cheer. A few shit heads started waving and people around them went along with it. I saw that they cheered when he got up, but the damage was done. Unfortunate situation all around, especially for KD. Feel for him, hope there’s some good news today relative to the situation.

I think you have a tone of bandwagon fans right now...A lot of them have no clue what that meant. other then he is out of the game at that moment.

My thoughts to KD, won’t be able to watch the analysis till later but I have a feeling we’re gonna get trashed for what some of our fans did last night.
