Your elegant words are always appreciated Stefan!

Athletic Alchemy

Yeah he is a natural ball player..almost to a fault

So I finally figured out the hard cap thing. If a team exceeds the "Apron", which is something like $6M over the luxury tax threshold and they do a sign-and-trade deal like the Russell trade, they are hard-capped for one year at the Apron level. What that means for GSW likely is that at least two of the three rooks won't be down in SCW this year, because they need warm bodies in GSW and can't simply fill out the roster with min vets. There are also these consequences to the MLE. So right now they have Steph, Klay, Dray, Shawn, C-Stein, Loon, Jones, McKinnie, Robinson, Russell, Evans plus the three rookies and I guess Lee as their 15 guys, and not much money to play with. Livingston and Lee would seem to be the question marks, and I don't know if there's anything more they can do with Shawn to free up any money.

I was listening to Warriors off court with Connor Letourneau, he had Kings beat writer Wes Goldberg on the podcast and he said WCS is a underrated passer out of the post. WCS average 2.4 and Goldberg figures Willie can double it when all the GSW's Shooters are healthy.

According to the rules he can’t sign with the warriors if bought out. He has to sign with another team

@thecryptoPA

I love the Ben Simmons idea... he would be a. Play maker, replace some defense and athleticism. I heard it somewhere too but can’t recall where... I definitely do not want Wiggins like you suggested earlier. Wiggins is the antithesis of a competitor. He’s Costco 20 pack of charmin soft.

@thecryptoPA

Thanks for this one. Very nicely done. Your videos on the second and third Warrior summer league games were superb. I'm amazed at your ability to convey so much insight so rapidly, yet with a smooth, seamless articulation that is easy to follow, always enlightening, and always fun. And, of course, your visual presentation (editing of the game) is equally superb. So many pieces of the puzzle to choose from, but you do it with consummate skill, creating an audio-visual film that is concise, organic, holistic, fluid -- and you do it consistently. Years of practice, now, so I guess you're just getting better and better, like a good musician, or, indeed, any artist. I've never followed summer league before, and I don't even care to watch the games; but what you offer on Patreon is so tantalizing and fascinating and fun and illuminating, that you've exponentially increased the quality of my summer; giving me something to look forward to besides baseball. And, of course, this is excellent preparation for appreciating even more deeply what happens when the NBA starts up again in the fall. I'm gonna stick with the Warriors as my favorite team, not only because I would anyway, but also because you weekly give me new eyes with which to appreciate the nuances of the game. As you know, I only "comment" occasionally, almost always simply to offer you well-deserved praise. I know you appreciate the in-put; and besides, I want to share my admiration and enthusiasm with those who might view the comments (and so also, with luck, become Patreon supporters of your alchemical and delightful and always edifying wizardry).

Alch what do you think about Sefolosha? Good defensive wing who can shoot the three?

Paul Byun

Alch if the grizzlies cut Andre can the warriors get him again?

I've always liked WCS except his name is toooo long.

Steven Stanley

Evans has unacceptable turnovers not just by number but also by type/location where the other team will take the ball score and get an and 1. What's been the Warriors Achilles heel? Say it with me Warriors fan T U R N O V E R S.....can Evans change that with summer league experience....sorry man no...no he can't. To win this year we have to be better at something and that something has to be value possessions.

Steven Stanley

Simmons = Billy Owens redux.

Steven Stanley

Also alch its THEE-OH-RET-ICKLY 😂

Mac Newton

Nah man forget simmons. If we flip Russell for him and retain Draymond then we will have two guys that can shoot and three that can’t in our closing lineup. I’m sick of watching Draymond and Iggy’s defenders camp under the hoop or double Steph and Klay. We need more shooters on the court, not only because it will help us generate wins now but because it will help save energy for Steph and Klay if they aren’t constantly fighting off double teams.

Mac Newton

Flipping Dangelo for Simmons would be highway robbery. No way the Sixers are all in on that one.

Andrej Krickovic

I completely agree, i personally think he fits really dang well with both Curry and Klay. hell he can run point while those 2 run around screens like crazy

KuraiT

I would keep Russell. The most valuable player you can have in today's game are dynamic scoring wings and guards. Russell is exactly that. They are at a premium. You need dynamic playmakers and scorers around Curry to take some pressure off him. Can't afford the wear and tear on Curry in his prime years. Russell is a great fit. He can run PnR. He can catch and shoot. And he can iso and get a bucket. Gotta keep him. He's a lot better than think

HELL NO, Ben simmons would be a terrible aquisition, unless they plan on getting rid of Draymond and he actually learns to shoot 3's. Then I'm all in.

José Francisco

I like Ben if he comes he will essentially replace Draymond Green. Which one do you think is a better fit from purely a basketball perspective, Wiggins, Gordon, or Simmons? And I can’t agree more on Australian basketball culture I live here and I feel like I’m the only playing the sport lol

Kevin Chan

I haven't seen him a lot, but I just don't get Simmons and all the philo-Simmery. It just seems like everyone is wild about him because he's so big for a ball-handling point, but there's not that much there there. To me Simmons at point would be a kind of echo of Durant playing point at the end of this year. What, you can't find someone six inches shorter who can handle the ball as well and not shoot any better for a third of the price? And the Warriors do need shooting, that was a huge problem this year- think of Steph and Klay paired up with Simmons, Dray and C-Stein or Looney - who's gonna spread the floor because he can pop the three? When they deal Russell what they really need to do is get three guys for that max money, and the team that just did that and maybe is a possibility for a Warriors trade partner is... NOP.

Man flipping Russel for Ben would be astonishing! Would make things extremely interesting! Love that take. Nothing like exclusive content lol!

KendrickTheCreative

He would essentially be Draymonds replacement. You flip Dray into 3 &D depth.

Athletic Alchemy

Adding Simmons to a lineup with Draymond and WCS/Looney sounds like disaster from a spacing standpoint. We’d need at minimum one other shooter in the lineup.

Ben simmons a better fit for warriors than Arron Gordon. We shall see how this plays out

Ravi Dissanayake

I got you!

Athletic Alchemy

agreed

Athletic Alchemy

Thanks! I have peeped the relationship with he and Steph grow the last few years.

Athletic Alchemy

What's up Alchemy. Great takes man. I also think the Greek Freak is in play next summer especially If the bucks get bounced out of the playoffs again

Keith Reynolds Jr.

That's an interesting take on the trade Ben Simmons trade but I am wary about any deals involving Clutch Sports.

Jason Williams

Thank God you uploaded, Now I don't have to listen to the insufferable Ethan Strauss and Tim Kawakami talk GSW to get my fix!
