Warriors vs Lakers |pre 4|

I'd freaking LOVE to get Covington...but I don't think Minny will put enough assets on the table yet to make dealing D.Lo worth it. He's still too unproven.

Owen Salisbury

We need soldiers behind Steph! When they got DLo I have been saying the moment they can trade him, send him and 1 more dude to Minnesota (for Okogie, Covington, and Teague) or Orlando (for Gordon, Ross, and Augustin) or even Washington (for Beal and Bryant). DLo is nice offensively but as you all already know, the Warriors came into the scenes in 2014-2016 prior to KD's arrival because of the defense and because Steph has soldiers behind him. We had Speights and Ezeli before. We had Clark, we had Barbosa, we had Barnes, we had SDot, we had Iggy, we had soldiers, not kids and low IQ guys.

I really don't understand how McKinney is still in the NBA. He has athleticism but he has no idea how to use it. He probably can shoot but only in practice.

Freddie D

That was ugly...

Ben

Mckinnie for GS, has been looking terrible, even give-up lazy "Harden on defense" (my "favourite version" of my favourite player") looks 13% percent better on D.

Pirate Ramsay

Alch, despite this not so good preseason game, when the real games begin, Draymond will shut AD and Lebron's ass down... and the others need to help too ofc.

Pirate Ramsay

I didn't watch this game as I knew it would be a massacre and I could handle it with Alch commentating :p

Paradox

We cant lose anyone this reg season or we not making playoffs

Tony Stark

Fuck our offense and defense, Draymond I don't know you are doing anymore. I know he has to force shots cause of the young guys but damn, dude is getting paid, he should have made some improvements offensively by now especially when he has to watch Curry try and get open for a shot and he just stands wide open and clanks. Change mechanics or something.

John Z

Really! The sellout clip!?

Athletic Alchemy

Assuming we go 9 deep most games, that's Curry, D'Lo, Robinson, Green, WCS, Looney, Paschall, Burke, Poole/Evans. That means only 4 of them were playing, so there wasn't much to see. But, yeah, this defense is real bad. Mostly at the perimeter but also in the paint (lack of rebounding) and Draymond Green alone is not going to solve it. Feels like we were way too premature with our 2-way selections. Should have waited to see what we needed from training camp. Feels like Lee and Bowman aren't the extra pieces this team will need when there's holes to fill. I like Evans and Poole to cover up extra guard minutes, and Paschall and Chriss to cover holes in the front court. Maybe even that Toscano-Anderson fellow. He's had a good pre-season for us so far.

Thomas Ogas

All I’m saying is all the people on the bandwagon probably gone now so at least we know who the real ones are. S/O everyone who’s still sticking around

Edward Zeng

Im with you I almost rather drop Lee tho we need guys that can come in and make other guards and wings work. I know Lee is pretty damn good shooter, but everybody's eyes get big when they see him in front of them...everyone! Even cook!

Athletic Alchemy

Steven it was brutal!

Athletic Alchemy

I heard someone on the jump the other day say Mckinnie " a guy who can defend the wing"

Athletic Alchemy

If the team is going to have some major duds Im going cooking M! I think its the only way I can deal with it. But I guess I got to be patient like everyone else too

Athletic Alchemy

well said..our Bigs have to play different now. They cant not even look at the hoop on these hight post catches.

Athletic Alchemy

The 9-73 Philadelphia 76ers (1973) whom I saw play in person defended the rim better than we did last night.

Steven Stanley

Definitely crossed my mind watching this

Athletic Alchemy

They don't fit at all on the court probably some Nike talk

Athletic Alchemy

I think we need to drop McKinnie and Bowman (or Lee) for Chriss and Toscano-Anderson. We need Chriss for obvious reasons, but I think Anderson can provide more size than Bowman on the perimeter. It's no coincidence that he was involved in our only solid defensive stance of the game. GR3, Chriss and the rooks have all surprised me thus far. The growing pains will be painful but I'm excited for this season.

thomas

haha I feel you! As Im watching this Im like what am I suppose to do with this!!

Athletic Alchemy

I've never seen an NBA team not defend their own goal for a full 48 minutes....oh wait a minute, now I have.

Steven Stanley

Skype call to China was my fav... when Max Kellerman has the top post (of all time) on r/nba... damn

e40

lololol....dwl...

I remember some mainstream media show over the summer, talking about McKinnie as the second best defender behind draymond til klay comes back🤣. Just shows how little they really dive into the background of their takes.

Toulivinho

lololol "saw a sasquatch" on that one defensive stand. i was dying.

Major Powers

Lol I wouldnt go FULL tank mode. But I do agree. Rest Steph and Dray every 4-5 games. No back to backs for them. Let Klay sit the whole season and get back to a complete 100%. Let all the young guys mesh and develop. Give DLo a leadership spotlight role like he had in Brooklyn. Get a decent draft pick. Come out firing in 2020. Thats what I wish theyd do. Shame it has to be the inaugural season of the chase center. But if Im being honest??? Shitty warriors = cheaper tickets. Sure they might spike next year due to hype. But if the Warriors are trash this year, the last 1/3rd of this regular season will actually be affordable!

Jansen E

Alch you mad on this one, I getchu though, team looks BAD right now. All I gotta say is I've been feeling this way for a while now, the fanbase is arrogant after being such a devastating force for so long, we are not what we were and we've lost lots of KEY parts of our team (mainly defensively). People don't understand that what REALLY made the Warriors so good was our defense. Getting a stop and Steph or Klay popping a three was our KO punch and I don't see us doing that right now. Hopefully things will look more positive once we get over these injuries...

Ezra Abbey

Its way too early to lose your mind over a stacked Lakers team when we dont have all of our fighters. Even if we lose with our guys it shouldn't matter. This early in the season its about building chemistry and learning how we are all going to fit together. We have much more to figure out than they do.

Tre

Man at this point sit Steph and Dray for the season. I'm not interested in being a middle of the pack team. Start tanking now and see if we can land a pick in the mid to late teens.

SunniDaZambi

I think the Lakers are that good but I just don't think they will maintain the productivity of their vets. LeBron is so important to the success of the team that if anything happens it could all end badly. That being said when teams have a chance to play seriously i think you can play the size off of the court.

Tre

I dont want to be a hot take artist so for now im just going to let it play out. I do like that DLo is starting to find a rhythm and Steph can heat up in an instant. Its looking like our defense is what needs the most work and its going to start with draymond. He will have to work the hardest hes ever worked to get the defense on the same page. If we can communicate and rotate like the possession you pointed out we can be decent. We looked very confused all game. On the other end i feel that the people who can somewhat create their own shot and create for others should be doing that 100% instead of take the back seat. Its easier to knock someone down a few notches than to try and give them a fire they dont have. If this means 1/2 punching with DLo and Steph i think we should do that for the first chunk of games until we figure it out. This will be alot of fun regardless of how the big picture gets painted! Good video Alc!

Tre

Probably an over reaction, but man I think getting Aaron Gordon plus another guy for DLO is going to be the play. I didn't realize how garbage our defense is on the perimeter. I was willing to let it go inside because we don't got our bigs, but man the perimeter is straight garbage.

Dirty Spud

My first thought about that "LeBron and Dray" exchange: Aye Dray you better hop out now on that sinking ship and join me here in LA. I didn't like that either but you know Bron, always stays tampering...

I couldn’t keep watching after Mckennie traveled on that wide open 3 ball. I physically hurt seeing that. Appreciate you powering through and covering these painful times Alch hahaha

Spence

Funny we've been clamoring all last season that we needed to move on from S dot. Iggy was average during the regular season tbh as he typically paces himself regardless. Sample size is a bit weird because LAL is just straight up huge. We can fair with 85% of the other teams but still its yet to be seen and we shall see opening night against a gunning LAC team.

If we lose, let alone get blown out again in this final game against the Lakers which will be a dress rehearsal, I may just lose my mind. No matter if it's preseason or early in the season, I won't t stand losing to LA 5 times in a row considering we will be facing another big team in LAC opening night.....

(same as Jansen, commenting before watching, my apologies) Missing iggy and s dot and klay so bad. we've been spoiled with elite defense for years. they better come up with something soon (keep toscano and criss, shitcan bowman and mckinnie?). or this is going to get painful.

Major Powers

I apologize. I usually comment before watching the video mostly just to share my thoughts xD. I really dont know if its the case is that these Warriors are that bad (and young) or the Lakers are that good. The matchup is absolutely awful for the Warriors. Lakers got Lebron + three 7fters, and a bunch of active veteran defenders and high energy young guys. I guess that answers my own question? Idk. But the Warriors just look bad in every phase of the game against the Lakers. I know we are missing all our centers and theres still no chemistry and everyones young. But man. It looks REALLY bad (without Steph anyway). Even with Cauley Stein and Looney, I dont see the outcome of this game being much different. Case in point.....facing long/tall/more athletic teams will almost guarantee a slaughtering in the first third of this season. I saw Draymond get visibly frustrated with the young guys. I still have no idea how McKinnie is allowed into NBA buildings. Not much to take away from this game. Russell still appears slightly out of shape. This game was hard to watch lol.
