I hope the front office can SELL it like "This guy is the next Harden. He will make your franchise great" but I don't think they fear the backlash of the trade. Can't let the opinions of talk media influence a decision like this. Just want to note that there's going to be some revisionist history around this trade in the future and we have to accept that we're not going to get equal value for him.

I guess it's not fair (or economically feasible) to expect Russell to be happy as the heir apparent for several more seasons, when he could be steering his own ship elsewhere now. Even though him and DLO both identify as Point Guards, they would benefit playing off each other, having multiple elite play makers. The reason we didn’t see this in the games prior to the Curry injury is the lack of Klay’s presence which would make it nearly impossible to bring the double team onto Curry with DLO in the lineup (if Dray is able to be an 35%+ shooter). Also Kerr would most likely stagger their minutes, and, something usually ignored in this contemplation, Curry only plays 65 games or so a year. All that said, It’s hard to say whether DLO or the depth his trade would provide would make the Warriors more lethal in a 7 game series.

We all sense it's not going to last, regret that it won't last, try to rationalize why he should stay, but all know deep down that he won't. D'Lo is a special offensive talent and some smart team should gamble and build around him for success. (It just can't be us). We already know the Wolves tried hard to woo him last summer. I'm sure their opinions of him haven't changed. A good deal can be had if the Wolves get another team involved to send us two start-worthy players (Covington and a legit center, perhaps) and we send out some contracts we don't want (Evans ... Spellman?) But I know for certain that years from now the assclowns on ESPN are going to say it was a terrible trade for the Warriors. D'Lo will be putting up SportsCenter numbers at some point if a team builds around him and gives him Harden-like usage. Then they'll pretend that he could have been doing that next to Curry.

2020-01-03 23:07:26 +0000 UTCSteph Curry is the guy we want to go create shots. While Steph is on the floor, D'Lo doesn't add anything to the offense or improve it in any significant way. But on defense, with D'Lo, we're giving up points. Defense is paramount to championship success. We need at least 4 solid defenders on the floor at all times. On offense, we need guys who can hit open shots/layups/dunks. Shot creation and playmaking is covered by Curry/Green.

2020-01-03 21:50:23 +0000 UTCI get that RoCo might really fit our system, but as this season progresses I am becoming more and more reluctant to trade Dlo. How many other guys in the league can go and get their own shot as well as Dlo and how many guys can get hot like him? I think he's a keeper and I may be wrong, but I don't think we should trade him.
