LaMelo Ball |Alchemy Analysis|

LaMelo Ball |Alchemy Analysis|

Comments

He already did one on Jan 22nd, but he may do one more if I'm not wrong

Breno Guimarães

Alc, did you do an Anthony Edwards analysis that I missed? Or is it coming up? Great stuff, as always.

I have Okongwu to do then I will jump to the sleepers

Athletic Alchemy

To me it depends what you can get to move back.

Athletic Alchemy

I believe I talked about 2 pods back they are a team to keep an eye on for sure. I just heard there beat writer say they will never trade Vic, “ he is the brand” so idk that seems weird.

Athletic Alchemy

I’m gonna look into that term.. if not just to be able to say it! Insightful as always Stefan, thanks!

Athletic Alchemy

To be clear.. he’s not my pick for the dubs! I think he is 2-3 seasons away from being good. But his potential makes him a top 3 pick and leverage for who ever lands there.

Athletic Alchemy

Hey Alc, I know u r covering the top prospects first, but is there a chance to cover some other prospects since we may be moving down ? Like Devin Vassel and Saddiq Bey, maybe even do both in one video comparing 'em. Cuz they seem a great fit for us

Breno Guimarães

The more I learned about the top prospects in this draft. The more I want the Dubs to trade down and out of this draft. I much rather get some bench pieces this year like Tyrell Terry, Kira Lewis, Tyler Bey, Chris Smith and Paul Reed– And try to swing for the future Face of the franchise in the 21' draft.

SunniDaZambi

Would rather trade Down and get someone like Haliburton. Also, what are your thoughts on the Pacers FO looking suspect to Oladipo and MT?

William Mitchell

Tolle adopted his first name in homage to Meister Eckhart, the late 13th century priest, mystic, man of the people, and in many ways a Buddhist (which he probably was in previous lives, hence a Bodhisattva, and most likely reincarnated now as the postmodern mystic of Creation Spirituality, Matthew Fox, in fruitful you-tube dialogue with the pioneering bio-psychologist Rupert Sheldrake, famous for the term "morphic resonance," which might have a lot to do with being in the Now and In the Zone, hence remarkably Zen, as Lao Tzu says in The Tao Te Ching, applicable to basketball, "Gravity is the root of grace" ). Sorry to wax so philosophic (and long-winded), but your opening quote got me going, and I thought maybe you'd dig the info.

Gotta disagree with you on this one. Kid struggles to finish at the rim and from 3. He's as efficient bas Poole has been, but playing in a much weaker league. That's alarming to me

Branden Edwards

Eckhart tollie is the goat ....

Cyrus Muduroglu

Glad I didn't disappoint!

Athletic Alchemy

Thanks Strong!

Athletic Alchemy

Great insight form you as well! I never thought about the floater as an indicator of what could be with the shot. I agree, I hope he comes out with more of a magic mindset.. I will say tho, I didn't love his demeanor in the interviews I could find. I dont think he is going to be a good communicator. To be fair he is 18, but had a hard time looking people in the eyes, and never really elaborated on any questions.

Athletic Alchemy

Great analysis as always Alc!

Excellent and fair, your most insightful breakdown yet. To have a good float game you have to have arc and with his handle, size, and vision he could survive and flourish on those skills alone (think Shaun Livingston with an occasional 3 thrown in). But, If the guide hand is not corrected he has a permanent ceiling on not the range but the accuracy of his 3 point shot. Correcting the guide hand for him is not so complex, in my opinion. One of the NBA's original stretch 5's before there were any stretch 5's, Warriors and Knicks player Jerry Lucas, who played the 5 at 6'8" had what was essentially, a quick 2 hand load and release outside shot similar to LaMelo's except at the very last minute, after the 2 handed up motion to the point of the release, he removed the guide hand completely without it effecting the shot gaining the support of a two handed motion but removing the interference of the guide hand. Lucas accomplished this by having the most exaggerated guide hand placement I've ever seen where the guide hand was literally on the absolute top of the ball and thus at the last second when he was ready to release he could lift it up and out of the way without it effecting the shot. I would say this, Lamelo's floater is clearly a one handed shot with accuracy and arc, it looks fluid and clean so it's very possible to correct the poor influence of his guide hand on his 3 point shot(of course somebody has to have his ear other than his father). Lamelo's exaggerated wrist position as he loads the shot up is another kettle of fish for me and would make me pass because I think Lamelo probably wants the "moon"...he wants to be Steph....Steph couldn't be Kobe or Lebron. Lamelo's path is more like Magic Johnson if he wants to dream big.

Steven Stanley

I can see a few scenarios, like the Knicks, swapping up even from 3 to 1 to get him and their in one of their Dallas picks. Lamelos hype means a lot to some of these dying franchises and we should milk it

Simhesh Shastry

Awesome i have been waiting to see LaMelo under the Alchemy loop! Good video!

Kevin Vestergaard

If lavar is in his other ear talking bout “aint nutting wrong wit yo shot” it’s going to be tough!

Athletic Alchemy

👍🏽

Athletic Alchemy

He is going to have to get a lot stronger.. I’m just not so sure he is helping them that much the next 2 seasons.. and that’s really the window. You could say, alright in 2yr he can carry them as they age gracefully. IDK man! If we land in the top 3 it’s going to be real interesting.

Athletic Alchemy

Lemelo trying to lead the 2nd unit would be dope.....we have the system the only real question as a warriors fan is does he want to improve his mechanics.

John

Thumb more active than a urologist bwahahahaha you're killing me

Tao Rodriguez-Seeger

If he was given the keys to run the 2nd unit from day one, the known floor general off the bench, would that be enough for him to be satisfied with his role, and take his defensive development seriously? secondly If so, upon development, 1-2 years down the road, could he end playing the 3 on the defensive end and sharing the primary distributor role with Curry? Imagine what he would look chopping up defenses with the movement of the splash brother + two bigs.

Stevie Ray

Thanks! Believe it or not these take a long time to conceptualize and then create.

Athletic Alchemy

Not yet! Gonna have to land top 3 to be able to trade back imo

Athletic Alchemy

Are there any news about the draft lottery? I just can't wait to see what pick we get

José Francisco

Love these quick little breakdowns of prospects! We shouldn't draft him but he can be a good player if the right team drafts him.
