Game7

I had had quite a few requests for this one, believe it or not! First time I dared to go back and look.....

Game7

Comments

Nice work as usual but this time only managed to get through the first 10mins. Losing this game didn't matter as much as how the league got the warriors into this position. That series was at worst a 6 game series with the warriors winning. Might have been 5 if not for the bogus intervention from the league. Smh, that series left a mark. Be nice to see them win one with the next iteration of the warriors though. Also be nice if Lebron wasn't gifted another title with this bubble bullshit.

AK

can't watch this now. it hurts too much. i'll try later. draymond said it's partly his fault that they lost the ring. i agree with him. we could've built on the momentum of the game 4 win. and here we are in 2020 and he's got lebron's balls in his throat.

Bailey

I can't watch this sorry...

Kevin Chan

A+ content every time man... even on the fuckin games that hurt!

DJ

"I told you that shit was flat" had to pause to finish laughing. Great commentary. The emotions in your voice brought it all back for me, too. What a game to watch as a fan, but man did it feel bad.

e40

Me too, but I still don’t want to watch it. Lebron is a good man, but basketball wise, he is bitch. I especially cannot stand Jefferson.

Tai Jan Huang

right..got a look at the track record. Thats why no one went at Danny Green's neck for Klay.

Athletic Alchemy

Yeah damn.... JR is lowkey damn dirty, like Olynyk, Zaza, Bowen and others.

Pirate Ramsay

Can't watch this one lol

Kyle Most

The cliche “ heart of a champion” is a real thing.. that believe we are going to see a lot of pride and “force” next year.

Athletic Alchemy

Man I can remember this series like it was yesterday. I wasn't able to watch Game 6 vs OKC because I was getting an MRI... but I watched every other minute of this playoff run. The last 3 games of this series will stick with me forever - the feeling of helplessness that swallowed me up as I watched LeBron and Kyrie dominate Game 5 wire-to-wire; the feeling of frustration and anger as I watched the officials sabotage us in Game 6 (culminating in Steph throwing his mouthpiece, which perfectly embodied my own feelings in that moment), and the feeling of disbelief watching us fall apart down the stretch, and being, as you put it, "on the wrong end of history". Personally, not getting to see this team (without KD) redeem themselves is one of my few (and biggest) regrets of these last 5 years of dominance. Hopefully next year, with all the championship experience under their belts and a wave of fresh talent, the Warriors can get back to playing with this level of confidence and love for the game. Thanks for the fantastic breakdown, as always!

The only way I was able to watch it was putting 500 on the Cavs.. when IG came up gimpy at the end of gm6 I felt like that was it. Then Draymond gave us so much life in that first half.. then I felt like we had it...

Athletic Alchemy

I appreciate you doing this and maybe one day I'll be able to sit down at watch it again. But the memory of that game still hurts like no other. Spent so much type hyping myself up for the game, dismissing my friend's doubts and my own doubts. Talking myself into self-assurance and texting my friends and relatives during the early portions of the game when things were looking great. Getting so psyched. Whatever happened with around, I dunno, 8 seconds or so left. I still don't know to be sure. Turned off the TV. Alone in an absolutely quiet room. Left my phone untouched. Went outside and just did a bunch of yard work and didn't even speak to my family for a couple hours. Totally tuned everything out until July 4th.

Thomas Ogas

I’ll try and do a overall second rd sleepers...but to spend as much time as it takes for a full breakdown on guys we have no clue where they will end up isn’t something I’m trying to do. I’ve got more draft stuff coming.

Athletic Alchemy

😀

Athletic Alchemy

Could you do analysis of potential 2nd Round picks? Daniel Oturu looks solid or Jordan Nwora as a scoring option off the bench

Aqua

Got change it up moving forward..I got some thoughts on that coming soon

Athletic Alchemy

hmmm! Your right! I feel certain players are just in sync naturally, that's where I use it. Yes I would have attacked through Klay every time Kyire was on him.

Athletic Alchemy

well said..Its funny The Warriors are easily more important too me than the 9ers..tho I am a life long 9er fan. I just love Basketball..but anyway its still so much harder to watch your football team lose. Something about the pacing and sudden momentum swings that just make it gut wrenching. Hoops I can always feel it coming

Athletic Alchemy

right..it wasn't like walk up 3 from Draymond or something..he just seemed distracted not fully present .

Athletic Alchemy

Thank you...likewise Wilson.

Athletic Alchemy

I agree..when you try to look at it objectivity it was a storybook ending for him.

Athletic Alchemy

Barnes can't dance, 'cause he has no rhythm. That made me laugh, just the way you put it. Funny and insightful at the same time. As for Klay, he made some great shots, but why not more? Seems like the whole team was leaning on Stef way too much. And, of course, as you say, Kerr's decisions left a lot to be desired. Anyway, a great Alchemy break-down as usual. Meanwhile, when you say "synchronicity," I think you mean "synchronization." Synchronicity is a Jungian term (which you likely know), and is a substitute for the word coincidence, meaning that it's not just coincidence, but rather, meaningful coinciding. On the other hand, maybe you've given the term synchronicity a new, additional meaning, which might be worth keeping (as a substitute for synchronization). :-)

Not the video we deserved but the video we needed..

It was such an unusual game for that season. The Dubs never lost 3 games in a row till the last 3 games of the Finals. They almost never blew a halftime lead. But watching again and listening to your valid points about the puzzling lineup decisions Kerr made and the mental mistakes as well as physical weariness the Dubs were exhibiting-it seems now like a recipient for a disaster. Which is what it felt like. I was so pissed that they allowed themselves to lose like this. They were the Golden Child turned into Darth Vader of the NBA and everyone outside the Bay wanted to see them brought down a notch. The Dubs got ahead of themselves-getting into petty statements about Cleveland and Lebron. I remember Lebron saying how hard it was to take the high road. Of course Lebron always wanted to change the narrative and manipulate slightly the situation- but he is and was incredibly talented and driven not to lose again. When they found an opening-and they did thanks to Brian Windhorst and others who pointed out the Draymond swipe in Game 4-they used it. When Kyrie and Lebron went off in Game 5- it was pretty evident they had found some real motivation-Game 6 was really hard to watch from a Dubs fan perspective. We all knew the NBA wanted a long series and some “storybook” type of Finals. I sensed they might just lose the Finals in Game 5 when Bogut broke. I sensed it even more when Igoudala was getting really hurt. They just ran out of whatever was left from that incredible regular season and the OKC series. But at halftime of Game 7 they were up 7 points. In a game were no one could really get going offensively outside of Draymond. Starting Festus in the 3rd quarter was the one disastrous decision I wish Kerr had not done. He was awful. I forgot until watching the 3rd quarter again just how pissed I was at how bad he played in a must win game with no Bogut and very little Iggy. It’s taken me about 3 1/2 years to watch this all they way through again. I still can’t watch the last 2 49er Super Bowls because the Niners haven’t won one since 1994. At least the Warriors went out and got Easy Money Sniper-and as they say the rest is history. The 2017 Finals Game 5 is my favorite game to rewatch as that celebration at the end was such a release. Of like 2015 where it was just a huge surprise-but because we all felt they deserved to have won it in 2016 as well except for everything going wrong at the wrong time. 2017 did feel like redemption. What a team that was.

Paul Hanson

Tough watch... and you're right, that turnover by Steph, as bad as it was, is always overblown considering there were around 5 minutes left in the game. But for anyone who watches warriors games regularly especially pre-Durant, knows that Steph attempts that pass literally once or twice in every game. He wasn't doing anything that was out of the norm, he was doing what he always has done.

You are right on point with Kerr, I just don't why, even with Curry probably not saying anything, that you are putting your star through the cycle. it's what pissed me off about the OKC series, like you are adding more damage to your star, by not targeting mismatches and he just ran him into the ground. Good stuff as always Alch.

John Z

Sorry, cant do it.

Luke Smith

It still hurts but nowhere near as bad as this date in 2016. After 3 more trips and 2 more Finals wins-it’s a part of history. And it made 2017 absolutely incredible. A very interesting breakdown indeed of how it all fell apart in that historic 73 win season.

Paul Hanson

This one hurt to watch, but great breakdown as always Alch. Good to revisit the analysis on Steph - people forget how taxing that season was for him. Happy Father’s Day to you - hope it was good to you and your family. 🙏🏻

Wilson Wang

Didn't sting as much as I thought it would... Like many people have said already the way things worked out you can't really complain. Another thing for me is that in some ways I'm happy Bron won this one. He really is up there with Mike and gets much more flack then be deserves.

Ezra Abbey

Hard to watch, but great takes, Alch!

Dan Doerge

4 years later, it still hurts. Speights was definitely the center we should have played because he gives way more spacing than Festus and I think big moments don't matter to him.

Ben

Let's also not forget that it was JR who did the my bad roll into Boguts knee and then dove at Klays knee in 2018. But I can't be too mad at JR. I was a Knicks fan growing up and knew when LeBron held on to him that the Cavs would never be great

Jim

Oh we suffering today Alch? 😂😂 Didn't think you had it in you to revisit this cluster fuck of a game. You are a better person than me.

William Mitchell

Haven't watched this back until now. I knew when Bogut went down prior, the ship was a toss up. Almost no one talk about Bogut being out but anytime I saw Steph on the court with Bogut, their mind was like one. Could they have closed it out without him? Yeah definitely but I feel with how game 6 ended for Steph and how Ezeli was his guy now his rhythm was off.

Like I said in the video, I get giving him a shot...but the second half minutes were inexcusable

Athletic Alchemy

I had like 4 or 5 people ask for it! But I got some good exciting stuff coming up

Athletic Alchemy

It wasnt as tough as I thought it would be..The two rings after make it a lot easier.

Athletic Alchemy

Festus's performance in this game is the performance which pisses me off like no other ever. 0-4, a missed dunk, a missed wide open layup. And the worst part noone ever talks about: Festus, a guy whose worst fault besides his awful hands is his falling for pump fakes, fouls lebron on a 3 and on the VERY NEXT POSSESSION overcompensates for the his previous mistake by giving lebron a wide open left wing three, lebron's favorite shot. Those were the 2 possessions I thought it was sone even if it was tied a couple minutes later

Slurpy

I'm in enough pain already during this pandemic, global protests, massive unemployment. Bring me some good news please. #BLM

Strong Foru

As much as it hurts, it was good to look back and reflect on this epic game

Kevin Vestergaard

Heartbreak 😢

Tao Rodriguez-Seeger

I don't blame him! But at a certain point its interesting to back and watch it without the emotions attached

Athletic Alchemy

It seemed like after this, the world kinda went to shit

Abhi Kelkar

Oh no might have to be the first Alc breakdown I skip on purpose😓😔😭

Mayansh Upadhyaya

Pretty sure he's done it

Mayansh Upadhyaya

Lol u had to do that ALC

neh, i'm not rewatching that :(

Ivan (Vanya) Kashperuk

Pour one out for Alch's sacrifice

Joe Zhang

Didn't Steph say he still hasn't watched it either? I think it was at All The Smoke.

Michel ten Voorde

had to see this

Anthony Gray

durran

james moore
