It seems that like on X, posts that achieve a certain level of engagement attract attention. I recently had a post (Dimples) flagged for "breaching community guidelines", in other words it could be monetised (paid members only) or deleted. It would seem that Patreon doesn't consider free members members at all. I'm not a fan of paywalls and I find being coerced into it unpalatable to say the least. We all have enough competition trying to wrest away our hard earned dollars, which is why those who do offer financial support are all the more appreciated❤️
Just like X, Patreon underestimates the value content creators place on control of their content and creative freedom. Not only does it make me angry but it sucks my inspiration dry. Should I continue to be bothered by these "reviews" I will invariably take further action, as I am want to do.
Option 1: I remove all monetisation so that Patreon doesn't see a dime. Refunds would be given for paid tiers. This is of little benefit to me though the loss of the, as yet, small amount of income would be worth the satisfaction. This will probably mean less and more restrictive content.
Option 2: I delete this account. My time can be spent far more productively elsewhere. I do this because it's fun, if a platform makes it unfun then I have no reason to pursue it further. There are far too many other things I enjoy doing, though I would miss sharing the fun of generation with you all.
Already in effect: I was going to release a Baruma (working title) wallpaper supporter pack, this would also have been available for purchase. It will will now be made available free to all when it's ready.
Every time I am negatively impacted I will impact negatively. I would much rather have reason to say nice things.
Sincerest regards,
Ruwin.
