[MMA 2019] BTS (방탄소년단) LIVE PERFORMANCE | REACTION!

One of the most if not the most unique live performance I've seen in my life, it literally has a little bit of everything...

I loved it, specially the Boy in Luv performance

Comments

Fun fact: they transformed an award show to THEIR own concert. They mastered the night.

Boy In Luv was first released in 2014, so you were right about it sounding like the early 2010's !

Man this reaction took me back to when i was first mind fucked watching it for the first time lol ABSOLUTELY mind-blowing. Really thought this would set the standard but nope, I keep seeing shity performances from other artist (Specially Americans lol)...Hope you get a chance to check out the studio versions of these songs. Dionysus is too fire.

This performance is mind blowing. If you want to understand the meaning behind it and have your mind blown even more check out the bookish theories youtube channel. She has two videos breaking out the symbolism within this performance. It will seriously make your jaw drop. Sooo amazing. Their 2018 mma show is great too but this one is the best.

There were SO MANY easter eggs in this performance, probably too much for one comment, but I’ll try and keep it as simple as I can. You can split the easter eggs into two categories: references to Greek mythology and references to BTS’ discography/album concepts. Starting with the Greek mythology: Each of the member’s solo performances represents a greek god: -V: Apollo, god of the sun -Jin: Ares, god of war (also referencing the Trojan horse in his performance) -Jimin: Artemis, goddess of the moon -Suga: Hephaestus, god of fire -Jungkook: Poseidon, god of water -j-hope: Zeus, god of thunder -RM: Dionysus, god of wine And in the second half of the show, starting with the solo performances, most of the staging represents a part of Dionysus’ life: -After each member performs, you can see a light come from the sky, eventually forming the constellation ‘Corona Borealis’, which represents the crown Dionysus gave to Princess Ariadne of Crete, which she wore on their wedding day. -The line of girls represent the maenads, who always accompany Dionysus. -The horses represent the Thracians (people from Thrace, where Dionysus originated from) -The horn symbolises the rhyton, the cup of Dionysus -The inflatable cougars are symbols for Dionysus Now onto the BTS stuff: -The remixed songs for their solo performances starts with their debut song, No More Dream, and get more recent as the performances progress, eventually ending with Dionysus, from their latest album at that time -The VCRs (the videos that play between songs) convey concepts from their album series Map of the Soul, I can’t explain it all as it’s quite complex, but basically, the reason that, at the start, the member’s shadows are separate from their bodies is because they hadn’t accepted the ‘shadow’ aspect of themselves yet (the part they are ashamed of and want to hide) and are only showing their personas (queue the song ‘Persona’), then in the second VCR, the shadows combine with their personas as they accept that part of themselves and begin to realise who they are -I’m not sure why, but the clips played in the VCRs also reference the BU (the BTS universe) There’s likely a lot more that I missed, and they’ll all fit together somehow to tell a story but I’m not sure how (you are right about it being like a stage show) Anyway, sorry if you find this comment a bit overwhelming, I just couldn’t resist talking about it all 😅

with the easter eggs its just that, as you read before, bts werent from a big company and were looked down on, so in this performance they used both very old songs and the new popular ones to show where they came from and how far theyve come. ive always seen it as a big fuck you to everybody :D
