Elevators working
Added 2016-10-30 02:12:14 +0000 UTCIt doesn't sound terribly complex to program a scalable elevator that can go up and down to multiple floors and be unable to go further at the top and bottom, but it really is quite a pain in the ass to get it working right. First you need to know that you are actually in an elevator, then you need to know where you want to go, where you actually are, compare the two against the maximum and minimum floor numbers, and then move to those locations. Then you also need to know that you are moving, so you don't keep changing floors mid-journey, and you need to make sure the elevator doesn't completely die when it gets to the bottom or the top, and that it knows it can only go up or down from there in one direction. And then you need to make sure that all this stuff that the elevator needs to know travels with the elevator, so that the trigger area which informs it of your presence does not stay behind, thinking that "oh, you left the elevator" when in fact your sad, lonely corpse is rotting inside because it cannot escape.
Oh, and then there are the call boxes so you don't get stranded mid-level. And the doors to keep you out until the elevator gets there. Safety first!
Yes, it eventually destroys your brain. But it is done. And now Gunbunny (with luck) will have to try really, really hard to die in an elevator.
