Sorry for the slowdown in updates; this time of year really sucks for me in general, I've had zero free time to do anything more than just get by with my normal work.
Grenade code has been started. Julien is taking a break from AI to add some other features. We now have aim-able grenade arc and throw. I should have some animations in the next couple of days for this. The grenade models have already been built, it's just a matter of adding the explosion effects and enemy damage stuff, then we can call this part done.
The melee system has also been redesigned to work better; this includes a charged-up attack format for certain melee and ranged weapons. Instead of complicated combo moves that require fancy controlling in an already hectic battle arena, I felt it best to simplify the combat controls by doing it R-Type style. Single tap will be a weak attack, hold longer before release will cause more damage and/or do a different attack style, and so on. This will be upgradeable for extra multi-stage attacks, finishing moves, and shorter hold times.
There is also stat-bonus pairing for certain weapon combinations that make sense, like sword + shield.
