Did they have fish in them; namely piranhas?π I suppose if the castle was under attack, the fighting knights would arrive in their armor, so they wouldn't want to fall into the moat and get wet. A pretty good safety measure in its own right.βοΈ

2024-08-09 17:30:42 +0000 UTCTruth be told, this is hard because every square inch of castles is fascinating. But if I have to narrow it down to one feature...I'd say the guard areas. At the drawbridge, all throughout at the gun slots, and all that. Not just the physical appearance of these sentry towers and the like, but how each served their purpose. The entirety of the massive castles had to be guarded and watched over, so the royals had to have employed a few hundred men I'd reckon. Wow! A footnote: where would they keep their coats of armor? Did they wear them in the castle, too, or just when out and about?

2024-08-06 15:27:25 +0000 UTCI enjoy the secret passages in a castle or structure. Even some modern home have secret doors or wall painting! How cool is it that they still exist to this day! Always a great fail safe and a way to catch enemies off guard or to escape from!
